Chapter 1: Arrival at the First Chapter!
Flame Bone Mountain was entirely wreathed in swirling flames.
Two figures flew rapidly across the sky, finally halting and hovering in midair before Flame Bone Mountain. They were Linley and Bebe.
“Crunch!” Bebe took a fierce bite of a fruit, then looked up at the mountain peak. “Boss, last time we came here, those guards blocked us. Just because we weren’t Lords or Prefects. It’s only been two or three months, right? Now you’re a Netherworld Lord, Boss. I wonder what kind of expression those guards will have.”
As he spoke, he casually tossed the finished fruit core aside.
“Let’s go.” Linley smiled faintly and shot up into the sky, with Bebe quickly following.
This ancient, pitch-black castle built atop the mountain peak was also wreathed in flames, yet many black-armored soldiers were still patrolling. Especially at the main entrance, over a dozen soldiers stood in two rows. When they saw Linley and Bebe flying over, one of the black-armored guards stepped forward slightly: “Huh? Them?”
This black-armored guard was none other than the one who had received Linley and the others last time.
Only a few months had passed, and the guards here changed shifts very infrequently.
“Hey, why are you two here again?” The black-armored guard frowned. “We already told you last time. Only when a Netherworld Lord or a Prefect comes will we open the spatial gate for them alone.”
Linley and Bebe landed.
“Boss, it seems these guards don’t know who you are yet,” Bebe said, puzzled. “Didn’t they say your information would be sent to Flame Bone Mountain within a day? Why don’t these guards know? It took us several days to fly here from Crimson Rock Territory. Your information should have arrived long ago.”
Linley glanced at the group of guards and said with a faint smile, “My information has probably only reached the higher-ups of Flame Bone Mountain. These ordinary guards haven’t gotten the news yet.” Not wanting to waste words with these guards, Linley strode forward directly. His sudden approach naturally startled them.
“Stop.” Over a dozen guards fixed their eyes on Linley.
“You two. This is no ordinary place. You cannot barge in. We may not be able to stop you, but you wouldn’t dare offend the Sovereigns, would you?” The lead black-armored guard, with blue eyes, stared at Linley and Bebe. They had already learned of Linley and Bebe’s strength last time and didn’t dare act recklessly.
“I am the new Crimson Rock Lord,” Linley said coldly.
“Huh?”
The dozen or so black-armored guards were momentarily stunned.
“You must be joking,” the black-armored guard said, looking at Linley in disbelief. “It’s only been a few months.”
From a hundred victories in the Blood Battlefield to challenging and defeating a Netherworld Lord—succeeding in just a few months was far too fast. Even these black-armored guards found it hard to believe.
“Stop wasting words here,” Bebe shouted impatiently. “When my boss tells you something, it’s true! Go find your leader right now. He’ll definitely know the news about the new Crimson Rock Lord, Linley.”
“Huh?”
The black-armored guards exchanged glances, then carefully observed Linley and Bebe’s expressions.
“Captain, they seem to be serious,” the black-armored guards quietly communicated via divine sense.
“But it’s only been a few months. That’s too exaggerated.”
Though they found it exaggerated, the lead black-armored guard still said, “Alright, I’ll go check now. Please wait outside.” With that, the black-armored guard swiftly dashed into the depths of the castle. Linley and Bebe waited quietly outside.
The remaining black-armored guards stared at Linley and Bebe in surprise.
They clearly found it hard to believe.
After a while—
“Crimson Rock Lord! Crimson Rock Lord!” A deep voice rang out. Linley and Bebe turned to look. A burly man in blue armor, slightly taller than Linley, strode out. The black-armored guard behind him looked at Linley with astonishment. The blue-armored man’s gaze landed directly on Linley, and his eyes lit up.
“Crimson Rock Lord. We only received the news not long ago and hadn’t rushed to pass it down. Who would have thought you’d arrive so quickly?” The blue-armored man said with a chuckle. “Oh, let me introduce myself. I’m Gilas!”
“Linley,” Linley replied with a smile. Hearing Linley state his name, the blue-armored man nodded with a smile: “Although we received information about you and seeing the young man beside you, we’re ninety percent sure. However, please, Lord, provide a little proof. Either a Dragonform, or show that invisible divine sword.”
Linley simply extended his right hand.
Blue-gold dragon scales instantly covered it.
“That’s enough.” The blue-armored man smiled. “Please forgive us; we do need to be cautious. I’ll lead the way. Lords, please follow me.”
Linley and Bebe followed the blue-armored man inside.
Bebe glanced back at the black-armored guards and deliberately snorted.
“He really is a Netherworld Lord!” The lead black-armored guard rubbed his large nose, muttering in disbelief. “How long has it been? Last time I drove them away, and now, in the blink of an eye, he’s a Netherworld Lord.”
“This Lord Linley has a relatively good temper. If it were those Flame Bone Lords, Captain, if you showed such disrespect, they might kill you in a fit of rage,” a nearby black-armored guard teased. Although this castle belonged to a Sovereign, its daily management was handled by a Sovereign’s emissary.
The Sovereign’s emissary arranged for some guards to be stationed here, as was the case with the Netherworld Lords.
Rules of the Planar War—
It was divided into two sides. The commander of one side held a red badge, and the soldiers held black badges. The commander of the other side held a gold badge, and the soldiers held white badges. Only Lords, Prefects, and Asuras could become commanders, while the soldiers were Highgods.
For example, Linley and Bebe.
Killing someone from their own side earned no merit.
Only by killing enemies could one gain merit. Obtaining 100 white badges allowed one to exchange for a drop of Sovereign power. Obtaining 100,000 white badges allowed one to exchange for a desired Sovereign artifact. Similarly, obtaining ten gold badges also allowed one to exchange for a Sovereign artifact.
However, there was one point—obtaining gold badges did not allow one to exchange for Sovereign power! To exchange for Sovereign power, one had to obtain white badges.
This also cut off the possibility of obtaining large amounts of Sovereign power.
Secondly, in a single Planar War, if one killed five enemy commanders, the military merit could be recorded after the battle. In the next Planar War, if one killed another five commanders, the accumulated military merit reaching ten would also allow one to exchange for a Sovereign artifact.
“It can be accumulated?” Linley exclaimed. “And killing ordinary soldiers? Isn’t that… a massacre?”
“It sounds easy, but ordinary soldiers gather together. To kill a hundred, you’d likely face an encirclement of tens of thousands of soldiers. An ordinary Six Star Demon or Seven Star Demon might only have one-tenth the soul attack power of a Lord. But with tens of thousands attacking, even a Lord would have to flee. If they’re too slow, they’ll be killed,” the silver-haired elder, Gaulun, said with a faint smile.
Linley nodded.
A commander encountering ten or dozens of soldiers could confidently kill them.
But encountering thousands or even tens of thousands of soldiers meant charging in would be suicide.
“Every commander is hard to kill. Those who dare enter all have life-saving abilities. That’s why accumulated military merit exists!” The silver-haired elder, Gaulun, said with a faint smile. “Participate in a few Planar Wars, and you might accumulate enough military merit. Of course, you might also die in a single Planar War, and all your efforts would come to nothing.”
Linley nodded slightly.
“Mr. Gaulun, we’ll go in now,” Linley said immediately.
