Chapter 10: The Way of Death
Dozens of figures flew through the sky in a grand procession, while the dozens of divine-level experts who had originally been in the imperial palace also approached with trembling hearts. In a short while, these eighty-two divine-level experts gathered together. They looked at Linley with fear and trepidation. They had no idea… how Linley would deal with them.
They were also puzzled—how could Linley be this powerful? When they and Odin had come from the Plane Prison to the Yulan Continent, they hadn’t taken the so-called legendary figure Linley seriously at all.
But Linley seemed far too strong.
“Lord Linley, this has nothing to do with us. We were all following Lord Odin’s orders,” a green-haired middle-aged man quickly said.
“It has nothing to do with us, Lord Linley. Please spare our lives.”
The eighty-two of them begged for mercy one after another. Having witnessed Linley’s strength, they understood that he could easily launch a soul attack against all eighty-two of them. They had no chance of escaping!
“Shut up,” Linley said coldly.
Instantly, the voices of the eighty-two divine-level experts ceased abruptly. The entire ruined imperial palace fell into dead silence. In the distance, the ministers, court attendants, maids, and guards watched in terror. Over the years, they had all known that the group of experts under Emperor Odin were incredibly powerful.
But today, Emperor Odin lay on the ground like a dead dog, and the eighty-two people stood there, not daring to make a sound, like slaves. All of this was caused by that brown-haired man!
“Fourth brother, Delia, if you want revenge, go ahead and do it to him,” Linley transmitted mentally.
Linley had no other choice. He couldn’t seal the other’s divine power; the other was also a Highgod! Linley could only rely on the Blackstone to plunge Odin into a dazed state.
“You bastard!”
Reynolds roared, his figure shooting forward like lightning. Then, flames erupted all over his body, and his right leg spun like a massive windmill as he kicked Odin in the waist with a “Boom!” Odin’s body slid across the ground, crashing into the base of a broken pillar in the distant ruined palace, shattering it and collapsing limply.
“Bastard, bastard!” Reynolds muttered under his breath, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at Odin. He flew over again and continued to brutalize Odin.
“Boom!” “Boom!” “Boom!”
Reynolds vented his fury.
Linley watched all of this coldly. At the same time, a crystal ball appeared above Linley’s head, and a hazy blue light projected toward the distance. Linley was using his water-type divine clone to cast the Floating Shadow Technique, recording everything happening at that moment.
“Reynolds,” Delia said in a low voice.
Reynolds paused, turned to look at Delia, and stepped aside. Delia then took the Gortes Spear and stabbed it fiercely into Odin’s body—his chest, thigh, groin, waist… Delia stabbed him repeatedly with the spear, cursing under her breath as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. “Brother…”
No matter how she retaliated for Dixie’s death, Delia would never feel satisfied.
“Delia…” Linley could fully imagine how much pain Delia was in, because he felt the same pain. Death wasn’t scary, but dying like Yale, with his spirit tortured to the point of collapse, was the most terrifying. “No matter how much I torment this Odin, it’s not enough, not enough!!! And his death-type divine clone must be destroyed too!”
“They’re really ruthless,” the eighty-two divine-level experts in the distance thought, trembling inwardly as they watched Reynolds and Delia’s revenge.
Reynolds and Delia both stopped.
“You eighty-two people,” Linley said, turning to look at them.
“Lord Linley,” the eighty-two said respectfully.
Linley said coldly, “Every single one of you will think of ways to humiliate this Odin. Remember, humiliate! A single stab isn’t enough! Anyone who can’t do it… I’ll kill him right now.”
The eighty-two divine-level experts were stunned.
“Hmm?” Linley’s gaze, sharp as a blade, swept over them. “What, do you want to die?”
The eighty-two divine-level experts exchanged glances. Odin was, after all, their leader. But after a brief hesitation, they still walked toward Odin one by one. They knew when to back down… They could see that Odin was definitely going to die this time. Since he was going to die anyway, a little humiliation didn’t matter.
“Odin, you’ve finally met your match,” one of the divine-level experts said, stabbing Odin viciously in the throat.
“Don’t kill him!” Linley barked.
The most important part of a god was the brain, the area containing the divine spark.
“Remember, humiliate!” Linley said coldly. “That stab of yours just now—was that humiliation? Not enough!”
The divine-level experts looked at Linley, gritted their teeth, and began using various methods. Some pierced Odin’s lower body with spears, and one even stripped Odin naked. In just a short while… Odin was left in a miserable state. But seeing this, Linley felt no pity whatsoever.
His gaze remained icy.
“Big brother, it’s ready,” a voice came from behind—it was Wharton.
“Bring those people over,” Linley said.
Immediately, from the broken gaps in the palace walls, one beggar after another walked in… These were beggars gathered from the imperial capital. Although the capital was luxurious, it also had slums and plenty of beggars. Several hundred filthy beggars entered the palace.
“Hey, the imperial palace!” The beggars’ eyes lit up.
“Go ahead, use your imagination to humiliate the man lying on the ground. Each of you will receive one gold coin, and whoever does the best job will be rewarded with a hundred gold coins,” a young man leading the group announced loudly.
“A hundred gold coins?”
The beggars’ eyes gleamed.
“Haha, humiliating someone? Easy,” a big guy said, charging forward first.
“That hundred gold coins is definitely mine.”
Hundreds of beggars rushed forward eagerly. They had no idea that the man on the ground was a Highgod, let alone that he was the emperor of the Odin Empire. All they knew was that doing their best would earn them a hundred gold coins. For these beggars, a hundred gold coins was enough to drive them crazy.
“One at a time,” the young man leading them immediately ordered.
“Haha…” The first beggar urinated directly into Odin’s mouth.
“What’s that supposed to be?” The second beggar sneered and walked up to Odin. For a hundred gold coins, they unleashed their imaginations, employing every extreme form of humiliation.
“This, this…” The eighty-two Highgods watching couldn’t help but turn pale.
Compared to these beggars, their methods were far too gentle—mere punishment. The beggars’ methods were truly the kind that made life worse than death. “Hey, why can’t I pierce it?” one beggar immediately shouted. He was holding a needle, apparently intending some kind of punishment. But unfortunately, this was a Highgod’s body. Although not specifically trained for physical strength, it was still condensed from divine power.
Ordinary gods could pierce it, but how could an ordinary beggar?
“Next,” the young man said coldly.
“I should be first. That hundred gold coins should be mine. I haven’t even done anything yet,” the beggar with the needle immediately protested.
“Get lost,” another beggar shoved him aside. “Heh heh, it’s my turn now.” With that, he flipped Odin’s body over…
“This is going too far,” the ministers couldn’t bear to watch anymore.
Linley watched all of this coldly, his expression unchanged. Linley admitted—these methods were indeed excessive and could drive a person mad with humiliation. But this was merely humiliating one person—Odin. Odin, on the other hand, had destroyed all the core members of the Dawson clan, forcing Yale to kill all his loved ones with his own hands.
And he hadn’t let Yale die, making him endure torment.
Compared to that, Linley’s methods were already merciful.
“Let them all go,” Linley said indifferently.
“Yes,” the young man said respectfully, then led the beggars away.
Linley looked at the filthy, naked, blood-covered body in the distance, feeling no pity at all. At the same time, he withdrew his soul power, and the Blackstone space spread out again, covering Odin. Odin’s eyes suddenly snapped open!
“Huh?” Odin looked at himself and immediately changed expression.
“Boom!” Wind-type divine power surged, and Odin’s body became clean again, with a robe forming on his surface.
Odin struggled to stand, staring at Linley. “What did you do to me?”
“What did I do?” Linley sneered. “Don’t you know what I did?” With a thought, the crystal ball above his head emitted a blue light, projecting a large image in the air. The image began replaying everything that had just happened.
Using the Floating Shadow Technique to record it—Linley had to do this.
After all, if Odin didn’t know what had happened while his soul was dazed, how could he feel pain?
“This…” Odin’s expression changed drastically, and he couldn’t help but look at Delia and Reynolds in the distance.
The floating image had already shown the scenes with Delia and Reynolds, and then it played the scenes with the eighty-two divine-level experts. Their methods were far more excessive. This made Odin’s face turn ashen, and he turned to look at the eighty-two. “You’ve got some nerve!”
The group of divine-level experts was startled. Then someone sneered, “Hmph, Odin, you’re a dead man. What are you so arrogant about?”
“You…” Odin was so furious at some of the scenes that he couldn’t speak.
“Odin, keep watching. The best part hasn’t started yet,” Linley said indifferently.
On the floating image, the beggars appeared. Odin’s eyes went wide. “Beggars?” He, Odin, was a noble Highgod. In the eyes of a Highgod, even Saints were mere ants. Ordinary mortals were even less than that—killable at will. These lowest of beggars, Odin wouldn’t even deign to glance at.
A Highgod being spat on by a mortal beggar would probably drive him insane.
But the scenes on the floating image were even worse than he imagined.
The first beggar poured urine into his mouth.
Odin clenched his fists, his face turning from ashen to black, then gradually reddening. His eyes seemed ready to spit fire.
But the beggars, driven by the hundred gold coins, racked their brains, each one more extreme than the last. The scenes were disgustingly vile. Odin was a perfectionist who valued face. Everything shown on the floating image was worse than death. Odin’s entire body trembled, his mind completely chaotic.
Humiliation!
Endless humiliation!
Worse than death!
“Linley, you will die by my hand, you will!!!” Odin stared at Linley, his gaze murderous.
“Odin, this is only the first day. Tomorrow, we continue,” Linley said indifferently.
Odin was so enraged that a trace of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
Suddenly, Odin threw his head back and laughed maniacally. “Haha… You’re ruthless. You’re ruthless!” Then he stared at Linley as if he wanted to devour him alive. “Linley, I have to say… your methods of humiliation are still quite amateur. Compared to how I dealt with your big brother Yale, you’re far off! Do you know how I tormented him when I hung him from the palace tree? Haha… I think he wouldn’t dare to say it, wouldn’t even dare to recall it. Haha…” Even as he said this, Odin was already driven mad by the humiliation.
Linley looked at him with icy eyes.
“No matter how impressive you are, you’ve only destroyed my wind-type divine clone. My most important one is the death-type divine clone. Losing the wind-type divine clone is no big deal. I can have more sons later. Haha… Let me tell you, my death-type divine clone has long gone to the Underworld. If you have the guts, come find me in the Underworld! Haha… As for humiliating me again… haha, dream on!”
“Boom!”
In his madness, Odin’s entire body suddenly self-destructed.
“Self-destruction?” Everyone around was stunned. No one had expected Odin to die like this. Clearly, Odin could no longer bear the torment and chose to die in humiliation rather than endure it.
Linley’s gaze was cold and deep.
“The Underworld?” Linley murmured.
PS: Two chapters finished! Did anyone guess that Odin would die by suicide? Hehe
