# Chapter 3: The Pursuit
The fluctuations of the laws of the world descended, drawing the attention of many people in the great canyon. The clansmen of the Yulan branch all rushed over one after another, and they saw Linley, Ina, Delia, and others standing outside the door of a small building.
When the clansmen saw Baruch approaching, they immediately made way for him.
Baruch then walked toward Linley: "Linley, who broke through? Was it Bebe?" Baruch knew that this small building was Bebe's residence, so it was natural for him to make this guess. Linley was in a good mood and nodded with a smile.
"Bebe actually reached the Highgod level? Faster than me." Baruch shook his head and laughed. Baruch's water-type laws had also reached their final bottleneck. He was only one step away from reaching the Highgod level.
"Patriarch, maybe you'll reach the Highgod level tomorrow," Linley said comfortingly.
Could Baruch compare with Bebe? Bebe had soul fragments, allowing him to improve rapidly.
"Uncle, if my father reaches the Highgod level, will he be as powerful as you, Uncle?" Ina's eyes lit up as she looked at Linley.
"Not that fast." Weide beside her was very certain. "Uncle Bebe has only just reached the Highgod level; he still needs to train hard. My father could kill Seven Star Fiends even before reaching the Highgod level, and now he's even more powerful." Weide was clearly proud of Linley.
"But Father himself said..." Ina said, puzzled.
"He'll catch up," Linley said with a faint smile.
"Father..." Weide looked at Linley with confusion.
Bebe, having reached the Highgod level, might have ordinary normal attacks, but his innate divine ability, God Devouring, was absolutely overbearing. Once God Devouring was unleashed, among those at the Highgod level, how many could withstand it? After all, facing the God Devouring technique, there was simply no way to resist.
"Boss, don't flatter me." A voice rang out. Bebe, wearing a straw hat, walked out of the house with a grin.
"Father." Ina immediately ran over.
Linley was surprised and laughed: "Bebe, that's rare. Since when did you become so modest?" This was nothing like Bebe's personality. Linley also noticed... that Bebe had indeed reached the Highgod level now.
"Sit in the hall." Nisse warmly invited them.
Linley, Baruch, and the others entered the hall, and Nisse quickly prepared drinks. Bebe was all smiles, his eyebrows raised with joy as he laughed heartily: "Boss, don't flatter me. After reaching the Highgod level, I finally understand my own abilities."
"Oh?" Linley was puzzled.
"I finally understand that Grandpa Beirut was... messing with me!" Bebe said helplessly.
Beirut had told Bebe that once Bebe reached the Highgod level, his strength would be close to his.
"My strongest attack is indeed close to Grandpa Beirut's. But that's my innate divine ability. However, this innate divine ability can only be used at most twice before my mental energy is almost exhausted. Without the innate divine ability, I'm just good at taking hits... an indestructible humanoid puppet." Bebe looked somewhat dissatisfied. "Compared to Grandpa, I'm far too weak."
Linley laughed.
"Bebe, having an innate divine ability means that in a short time, you can at least kill two super experts. That's enough," Linley said. "Your grandfather didn't deceive you. When you use this innate divine ability, among Highgods, how many can be your match?"
Bebe sighed: "I've heard that back then, when Grandpa stopped the eight great clans, he only used a black staff. The elders of the eight great clans died the moment they touched it. Even the patriarchs with Sovereign artifacts were severely injured. Grandpa didn't use his innate divine ability..."
Linley couldn't help but shake his head.
"Bebe, your grandfather has fused quite a few profound mysteries of the laws," Linley said. "You haven't fused even one. How can you compare with your grandfather?"
Lord Beirut had that kind of power with every casual move... while Bebe needed to use his innate divine ability to reach that level. Bebe was clearly unhappy about it.
Beside them, Baruch said in a loud voice: "Bebe, having good talent also requires personal effort... I've also heard that your body is extremely tough, even stronger than Linley's Dragonform. But you've fused too few profound mysteries. I think Lord Beirut became a peak figure in the Infernal Realm because he must have fused quite a few profound mysteries of the laws."
"Mm." Bebe nodded.
Linley could guess that for a Highgod Divine Light Rat, pure physical toughness was close to the level of a divine spark. It was probably dozens or even hundreds of times stronger than his Dragonform body. And as for Beirut's achievements in profound mysteries, even fusing four or five would be enough to dominate the continent.
A powerful physical foundation, combined with four or five fused profound mysteries, would absolutely be enough to sweep through the Infernal Realm. Especially with a Sovereign artifact...
"I wonder how many profound mysteries Lord Beirut has fused," Linley wondered inwardly.
But back then, Beirut had also talked with Linley, and Linley knew... Beirut hadn't reached the Grandmist realm. However, his talent was too strong; even fusing four or five profound mysteries allowed him to match a Grandmist Highgod.
"I need to work hard on fusing profound mysteries too." Bebe gritted his teeth.
Seeing Bebe's expression, Linley couldn't help but laugh: "Then Bebe, I'll be watching to see how far you can fuse them."
"Bebe." Suddenly, Nisse spoke up beside him.
"Huh?" Bebe looked at her.
"Did you forget something?" Nisse stared at Bebe. "Something very important!"
Bebe felt uncomfortable under Nisse's gaze and rubbed his head: "Is there something?" Nisse was so angry she didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but she still said: "You said before, that once you reached the Highgod level, you would..."
"Oh... you mean, visiting your brother Salomon?" Bebe suddenly realized, then grimaced. "You weren't serious, were you?"
Nisse's expression immediately turned ugly, and she fell silent.
As Nisse's expression darkened, the atmosphere in the hall became awkward and oppressive. Linley frowned and immediately sent a divine sense message: "Bebe, what's going on?"
Today was supposed to be a good day, so why was it turning unpleasant?
"Boss, Nisse has been here for so many years and has always wanted to visit her brother Salomon. You know... that ungrateful Salomon. I'd be doing well not to kill him, let alone visit him. But at the time, I didn't want Nisse to be too embarrassed. So I humored her. I said my strength wasn't enough yet, that the journey was dangerous. When I reached the Highgod level and had enough strength to escort her to the Azure Floating Continent, I'd go with her. I just said it casually to make her happy. Who would have thought... Nisse would remember it all this time." Bebe's face was bitter.
Linley understood completely.
Bebe hadn't taken it seriously, but Nisse had always remembered it. After all, since her parents died, Nisse only had that one brother. Although Salomon hadn't been honorable toward Linley and the others, he did have genuine feelings for his sister.
"You were just humoring me?" Nisse finally spoke. There was a hint of tears in her eyes.
Bebe was stunned, but he was stubborn.
Back then, he had used his ultimate technique, the divine spark weapon, that dagger, to kill Salomon. It was only the Seven Star Fiend Alikewen who intervened and blocked it, saving Salomon. Alikewen had even lost a divine artifact because of it.
Under these circumstances, how could Bebe be willing to bow his head to Salomon and go pay respects to him? Salomon probably harbored some hatred toward Bebe as well.
"Nisse, back then your brother tried to kill me, my boss, and Delia..." Bebe had just gotten this far when Nisse's tears uncontrollably flowed down.
After all, Nisse only had that one brother.
Seeing this, Delia knew it was bad and immediately sent a divine sense message: "Bebe, don't say that anymore. What Salomon did back then, although it wasn't honorable, was because he misunderstood Linley. For Nisse's sake, just go. Otherwise, Nisse will always have this thorn in her heart... Linley thinks so too." Delia's divine sense message also echoed in Linley's mind.
Delia clearly understood that Linley's words had the greatest effect on Bebe.
"Forget it, Bebe. Give Salomon a chance. If Salomon remains unrepentant, we can talk about it then," Linley sent a message.
Linley could imagine Nisse's feelings.
After all, in this matter, Nisse was innocent. Nisse was the most innocent one.
"Alright, Boss. I'll give that guy a chance!"
Bebe glanced at Linley, then continued to Nisse: "What your brother did was really despicable!"
"My brother has already regretted it. He didn't know at the time; he misunderstood you all, which is why he acted that way. Later, he regretted it very much," Nisse quickly said.
Bebe reached out and took Nisse's hand: "Nisse, fine. For your sake, I'll accompany you to see your brother once... But whether I give your brother face or not depends on his attitude! If your brother is still like that... then don't blame me."
Bebe still couldn't swallow that anger.
"Mm. My brother will definitely apologize," Nisse quickly said. A trace of a smile had returned to her face.
"Father, Mother." Ina finally dared to speak. "I want to go with you!"
"No." Bebe frowned. "Nana, you haven't even reached the God level yet. We're going to the Azure Floating Continent. The journey is long. If we encounter any danger on the way, even a slight shockwave could kill you."
Nisse also agreed: "Nana, wait until later."
Seeing that her parents were in agreement, Ina felt helpless. Bebe then accompanied Nisse as they left the Heavenly Sacrifice Mountain Range, setting off for the Liang'an Prefecture of the Azure Floating Continent. The journey was long; even at the fastest pace, a round trip would probably take nearly a hundred years.
Meanwhile, Linley and Delia took Weide and Ina and began touring the Youlan Prefecture.
Having been in the Youlan Prefecture for so many years, there were still many famous places they hadn't visited... Although they encountered some troubles while traveling through the Youlan Prefecture, with Linley's strength, he could easily resolve them.
In the blink of an eye...
A hundred years had passed in their travels. During this hundred-year period, Linley's four avatars had been diligently training. His water-type divine clone, which trained extremely quickly, had finally reached the sixth profound mystery. His wind-type had reached the eighth profound mystery... The worst was still his fire-type. He had only mastered four profound mysteries, and for the other two, he couldn't even find the entry point.
In terms of fire-type, Linley's talent was clearly much weaker.
Inside a metallic lifeform, Linley was sitting on a chair.
"Linley, you're so happy just because your water-type reached the sixth profound mystery?" Delia handed him dishes and wine.
Linley's eyes lit up: "Wrong. I'm not happy because my water-type reached the sixth profound mystery, but because... my profound mystery of Strength has achieved a trace of compatibility with the Gravity Space." Linley was extremely delighted. "Over two hundred years. Since the matter between our Four Divine Beasts clan and the eight great clans was settled, over two hundred years have passed. In the Laws of the Earth, I've finally made a little progress! But this little progress represents... that I have hope of fusing all four profound mysteries."
"Fusion? When will it be complete?" Delia asked.
"Uncertain. Although the profound mystery of Strength is now compatible with Earth Element and Gravity Space, it's only compatibility, not complete fusion. Fortunately, the profound mystery of Strength is completely fused with Earth Pulse. After the other two pairs of profound mysteries are completely fused... then I can proceed with the overall fusion of all four profound mysteries." Linley understood clearly.
To fuse all four, he needed the profound mystery of Strength to be fused with each of the other three individually.
Only then could he proceed with the overall fusion.
"How long will it take?" Delia continued.
"At the shortest, a few hundred years, maybe a thousand. At the longest, ten thousand years," Linley said with a smile.
"That long?" Delia laughed.
Linley became serious: "Delia, from the time I started cultivating until now, it's only been about two thousand years in total. If I can fuse four profound mysteries within ten thousand years, that's already worth celebrating." Linley looked out the window at the vast Infernal Realm.
"Now, I have no regrets. I only want to one day reach the peak of cultivation. Whether it takes ten thousand years, a million years, or even longer... I will keep pursuing it." Linley's eyes shone with anticipation.
Back when Delin Cowart had led him onto this path of cultivation, although Linley's primary goal was revenge, during the process of cultivation, Linley had also come to love the feeling of constantly breaking through his limits.
"Linley, you will succeed. I will always be with you, until you reach the very peak." Delia couldn't help but hold Linley's hand and whisper softly.
