Chapter 43: Whedi
In the previous chapter, 'Olivia' appeared, which was actually a typo. It should have been 'O'Brien'. It has been corrected. I am ashamed. At this moment, Olivia is still outside taking on demon missions.
Linley and the other two did not appear at the city gate. This caused the intelligence personnel of the eight great clans to have worked in vain. It also made the eight Elders, who had been prepared for a long time, rejoice in vain.
Within the residence of Tarosa and the others in Mill City.
"Tarosa, I'm afraid we'll have to impose on you for a while longer." Linley's face was beaming with smiles. He couldn't help but glance at Delia beside him. Originally, he had been ready to return to the clan. But last night... Delia had told him something.
She... was pregnant!
"After being in the Anarchic Lands for so long without getting pregnant, I never thought she would be pregnant now." Knowing this news, Linley was overjoyed. Since Delia was pregnant, Linley was in no hurry to return to the Anarchic Lands. After all, in terms of environment, Mill City was much better than the Anarchic Lands.
He would let Delia rest and recuperate here now, and only return after she gave birth to the child.
"Haha, stay as long as you like." Tarosa said, puzzled. "Linley, weren't you saying yesterday that you were going to set off early this morning? Why the sudden change of plans?" Hisset, who was beside Tarosa, also looked at Linley with confusion.
"Delia is pregnant." Linley said happily. Beside him, Delia couldn't help but blush.
Tarosa and Hisset immediately widened their eyes, then both burst into loud laughter.
"Haha, this is great news! We must celebrate properly." Tarosa said quickly.
The news of Delia's pregnancy made everyone in the residence extremely happy. When Pussro came over, he was surprised to find that Linley hadn't left. Upon asking, he learned about Delia's pregnancy. He was also happy for Linley. The entire residence was filled with joy.
With Delia pregnant, Linley spent every day accompanying her. Watching Delia's belly grow bigger day by day, his mood became increasingly excited. Sometimes Linley would put his ear against Delia's belly to listen for sounds.
Even when close to Delia, Linley could sense the bloodline of the unborn little life, resonating slightly with his own bloodline.
"Sir, our people have discovered Linley's friend 'Bebe' within Mill City. We also followed him discreetly and finally found Bebe's residence. Our brothers tried every means and finally discovered that Linley and Delia are also living in this residence!"
Mill City was large, spanning thousands of miles in area.
But for Deity-level experts, especially the large number of intelligence personnel from the eight great clans who had been in Mill City for a long time, and particularly because Bebe often went out, it wasn't difficult for the intelligence personnel to find Bebe. Once they found Bebe... with the methods of the eight great clans, finding Linley and Delia wasn't hard.
"Excellent! Now that we've found their residence, it's easy. Remember, we need to constantly rotate people to watch that place. Make sure Linley and his group don't discover us. Whenever Linley goes out, report immediately."
"Yes, sir!" "But sir, what if Linley and the others decide to settle down in Mill City and never go out?"
"Well..."
Fighting was prohibited within the city; even the eight great clans didn't dare violate this rule.
"Let's watch for now. I don't believe Linley will stay in Mill City forever. As for what to do if Linley really stays here and never leaves... that decision should be made by the Clan Leaders."
The intelligence personnel of the eight great clans had already locked onto the place. But while they were secretly watching, Linley was happily accompanying his wife, showing no intention of leaving.
Linley sat outside, holding a wine glass, but his mind was elsewhere. He kept turning his head to look toward the room, because Delia was inside, and at that moment, she had reached the time of childbirth.
"Whoosh..." Linley couldn't help but take a deep breath.
Even when fighting against Seven Star Fiends, he had never been this nervous.
"I wonder if it's a boy or a girl. I wonder if the child is okay now. I wonder if Delia..." Countless thoughts flashed through Linley's mind in an instant, chaotic and messy. The hand holding the wine glass trembled slightly.
"Boss, haven't you been through this before? Why are you still so nervous?" Bebe teased from the side.
Linley glanced at him and managed to force a faint smile: "Bebe, when the day comes that you become a father, you'll understand. Every time you wait... the intensity is no less than fighting a battle against a supreme expert."
Waiting outside, Linley felt his heart hanging in suspense.
Nearby were O'Brien, Dilin, Tarosa, and the others. Even Pussro had come today. Pussro and the others were chatting among themselves, teasing Linley, but Linley had no time to talk to them.
His mind was entirely on the room.
"Waaah~"
A piercing baby's cry shattered the silence of the entire residence, and like a ray of sunlight, it instantly illuminated Linley's mind, causing the myriad thoughts in his head to melt away. At that moment, he had only one thought—
The child was born!
"Whoosh!" Linley's figure instantly rushed to the door of the room. Just then, the door opened, and Dilin's wife, 'Camina', walked out with a smile and said, "Linley, congratulations. Delia gave birth to a son!"
Linley didn't even bother about whether it was a son or daughter; he went straight into the inner room.
In the inner room, Delia had a slight sheen of sweat on her forehead. She was sitting on the edge of the bed, holding the baby. Seeing Linley enter, she immediately stood up and walked over: "Linley, look. He's very quiet. He was crying just now, but now he's stopped fussing."
Linley carefully looked at the baby in Delia's arms. The wrinkled skin, the small body and small head—it was just like when Taylor and Sasha were born.
"Let me hold him." Linley's heart was pounding at that moment.
No matter how powerful an expert is, when becoming a father for the first time and holding his own son, they would all feel excitement, trepidation, and nervousness.
Holding the baby in his arms, feeling the slight weight of his son. Although the baby was very light, especially for a powerful expert like Linley, this weight meant nothing, yet Linley felt that this light weight seemed to press down on his heart.
"Son, my son!" Linley couldn't help but shout in his heart, "This is my son!!!"
Holding his son, Linley felt a sense of bloodline inheritance and the continuation of life.
"Linley, what should we name the child? Have you decided?" Delia asked.
"Let's call him Whedi." Linley said, looking at his son in his arms with affection.
"Whedi. Whedi. Say 'Father'?" Linley said, gently touching his son's little nose. The skin was very delicate. Perhaps because Linley's touch hurt him, Whedi, who had just stopped crying, started wailing loudly again.
Delia quickly reached out and took him: "He was just born, and you're already asking him to call you 'Father'. The child is crying. Here, give him to me."
"It's fine. My son, Linley's son, isn't that pampered." Linley said, "Let me hold him a little longer."
Holding his son 'Whedi', Linley's mood was ecstatic. Even holding a Sovereign artifact couldn't compare to holding his son in terms of excitement and joy.
Seeing Linley so reluctant to put him down, Delia couldn't help but smile.
Linley lowered his head to look at his son, never tiring of the sight.
"Wah wah..." Little Whedi cried for a while and then stopped. Instead, he looked at Linley with his big, jet-black, pure, and innocent eyes—eyes that held not a trace of impurity. He looked at this man, the first man he had seen since his birth!
He didn't know yet that this was his father!
He was Linley's son. It was destined that his life would not be ordinary!
"Linley, why aren't you coming out?" Hisset's voice rang out.
"Boss, hurry up and bring your son out! I, his uncle, want to hold him too!" Bebe shouted loudly. At this moment, Delia and Linley inside the room were jolted awake. They exchanged a smile, then carried their son and walked outside.
As soon as they got outside, Bebe, Cleo, and the others rushed up.
"Let me hold him!" Bebe cheered.
With his son born, Linley and Delia played with him, finding endless joy. They were in no hurry to return to the Anarchic Lands. But they weren't in a hurry, while the intelligence personnel of the eight great clans, especially the eight Elders, were getting anxious.
No one knew when Linley and his group would finally go back.
But they couldn't rush them either. They could only watch helplessly as Linley enjoyed the joy of fatherhood.
"Sir, the brothers are rotating shifts constantly, keeping a close watch. But it's been a whole year now. When will this end?" The intelligence personnel of the eight great clans dared not slack off, whether day or night.
"Now that Linley is often holding a baby, are we supposed to wait until the baby grows up?"
Watching like this was indeed exhausting, especially not knowing when it would end.
"Don't worry. I've already reported back to the Clan Leaders. The order from the eight Clan Leaders is just one word—'Wait'! In any case, we must not alert Linley. He can't possibly stay in Mill City forever. One day, he will go out!"
"Yes, sir."
The intelligence personnel could only grit their teeth and persevere.
On the streets of Mill City, Linley and Delia were walking side by side. Their son 'Whedi' was being looked after by Camina. They had come out today to buy a large amount of nutritious ingredients. Whedi was still young, and as he grew, he would need to eat a lot.
"We'll go back in a while. There aren't many ingredients in the Anarchic Lands." Linley laughed. "This purchase should be enough."
"Of course it's enough. So many ingredients cost us tens of millions of inkstones. It's enough for Whedi to eat for over ten years." Delia laughed. "Compared to Sasha and Taylor, the food Whedi will eat in the future is much better."
"Whedi doesn't know he has an older brother and sister yet. When he grows up and understands, we'll tell him." Linley felt that having his son by his side, whether doing things or training, filled him with energy!
Just as Linley and Delia were communicating via divine sense and talking on their way back, they suddenly noticed someone—
"Hmm?" Linley looked in surprise at a figure in the distance. As long as they were members of the Azure Dragon clan, they all had clan emblems and could sense each other's presence. That was how Linley sensed the person ahead.
In Mill City, Linley had already encountered several Azure Dragon clan members. But this time, he had run into an acquaintance.
"Elder Linley." The other person also noticed Linley and immediately sent a divine sense message.
"Elder Tewila." Linley also sent a divine sense message in return.
Both Linley and Tewila had changed their appearances, but they had kept the same disguises as when they last parted. Naturally, they could easily recognize each other.
Tewila walked over with a smile and sent a divine sense message: "Elder Linley, last time you didn't return with us. What happened?"
"My apologies. I didn't expect that during that one month in Mill City, my wife would become pregnant." Linley sent back with a smile. "At that time, I decided to wait until the child was born before returning."
"Ah, congratulations! Congratulations!" Elder Tewila quickly sent back.
Linley was also all smiles.
"By the way, Elder Tewila, are you escorting a metallic life form this time too?" Linley inquired. "The clan sends one batch every six months. It's only been a year and a half. How is it your turn again?"
"There's no help for it. Over the past five hundred years, we've lost too many Elders. Now there are very few Elders left in the clan, and most of them have entered the Blood Battle Valley." Tewila said helplessly. "So, escorting the clan's metallic life forms falls on the few of us Elders, taking turns."
Linley understood.
He knew that the clan had suffered heavy losses over the past five hundred years. As for exactly how many Elders had been lost, Linley hadn't asked in detail. But... in the first two hundred years alone, five had been lost. Over the entire five hundred years, the number of lost Elders probably exceeded ten.
"Tewila, when are you setting off to return? We happen to be planning to go back. Let's travel together." Linley laughed.
"Oh, we're setting off the day after tomorrow." Tewila was also very pleased. "Elder Linley, if you travel with us, and we join forces, it will be much safer."
"Alright, see you at dawn the day after tomorrow." Linley said.
"Definitely. But this time, don't you dare not show up." Tewila laughed.
"This time, I won't miss it." Linley laughed.
When dawn arrived the day after tomorrow, at the entrance of the residence, Delia was holding little Whedi. Together with Linley and Bebe, they bid farewell to Tarosa and the others.
"Tarosa, you don't need to see us off." Linley laughed.
"You must come visit often. I really like little Whedi." Tarosa laughed.
Bebe laughed heartily and said, "Next time we come, Whedi will have grown up."
After saying goodbye to their friends, Linley, Delia, and Bebe, carrying little Whedi, headed straight for the city gate. This scene, however, was observed by a figure at a high-rise window in the distance: "Linley and his group seem to be setting out."
