Chapter 6: Red-Eyed
"So powerful?"
Linley and the others were inwardly shocked by the strength of a Seven Star Fiend. "If that's the case, then a Seven Star Fiend should be at the pinnacle among Highgods. I wonder if Qinghuo has the strength of a Seven Star Fiend," Linley mused silently.
"Ah. I came to find you, but somehow we ended up talking about Fiends," Pafett said quickly. "Linley. The reason I came to see you three today is that I have something to ask you."
"Oh, please go ahead, Mr. Pafett," Linley said.
"Ask us three?" Bebe rubbed his chin, looking askance at Pafett.
Pafett smiled. "To be precise, I'm asking you two." He pointed at Bebe and Delia respectively.
"Oh?" Delia was also puzzled.
"Old man, what is it? Spit it out," Bebe urged.
Pafett said, "In our Black Dragon Tribe, anyone who reaches the Demigod level will almost certainly become a member of the tribe's guard army. Since you two have both reached Demigod, I was wondering if you'd be interested in joining the tribe's army? If you join, the Chieftain will grant you wealth every ten thousand years. It's much more comfortable than raising Galder Black Dragons. Raising those dragons means you have to follow them around all the time. It's very tiring."
"This?" Bebe hesitated, then looked at Linley.
Delia, however, smiled and said, "Mr. Pafett, we've only just arrived at the Black Dragon Tribe. We're not familiar with many things yet, and we're not in a hurry to join the tribe's army."
"If you do other things, you won't earn wealth as fast as this," Pafett insisted. "I advise you to think it over."
"Mr. Pafett, let's talk about it later," Linley said.
He had long since planned to find an opportunity to go to the Bloodridge Continent. How could he stay in this Black Dragon Tribe forever? And they said the salary was given once every ten thousand years. Ten thousand years might not be a long time for a God, but for him, he couldn't wait that long.
"I'm just mentioning it," Pafett said, unconcerned.
"Mr. Pafett," Linley pressed on. "I'd like to ask, when will someone from the tribe be going to the Imperial City of the Wings?" Comparatively speaking, the Imperial City of the Wings would definitely have more factions, and he might find a way to get to the Bloodridge Continent there.
"Go to the Imperial City of the Wings?" Pafett was startled. "Oh. Our tribe goes to the Imperial City of the Wings by metallic lifeform at irregular intervals. Sometimes it's only a few years between trips, but sometimes it's several thousand years."
Linley's heart sank.
Several thousand years? He had to wait that long?
Pafett suddenly laughed. "Oh. I remember now. In half a year, the tribe seems to be making a trip to the Imperial City of the Wings."
"However, if tribe members want to ride that metallic lifeform, each person has to pay five Inkstones," Pafett reminded Linley and the others. He could tell that the three of them were very eager to go to the Imperial City of the Wings.
In fact, every newcomer to the Infernal Realm yearned for the great cities there.
"Thank you, Mr. Pafett." Linley was overjoyed. It was only half a year away.
After Pafett left, Linley and the others happily drank some fine wine in their courtyard to celebrate a little. In the Infernal Realm, fine wine was a great luxury. Of course, there were even more exquisite wines in the Imperial City of the Wings, but their prices were too high. A good wine could cost as much as a Demigod spark.
"Riding that metallic lifeform costs five Inkstones per person," Bebe cursed under his breath. "That's really a rip-off."
"For the three of us, that's fifteen Inkstones," Delia said, looking at Linley. "It seems we'll have to sell some divine artifacts."
Linley had Lowgod, Demigod, and even Highgod divine artifacts on him. The most astonishing was that Highgod spark. That single Highgod spark alone would make Linley a wealthy man in the Infernal Realm. However... the three of them also knew that this wealth couldn't be shown off.
In the Black Dragon Tribe, if others found out they had a Highgod spark, Linley and the others probably wouldn't last a day.
"Alright, I still have four Lowgod divine artifacts on me. Let's go to the Chieftain's castle first and sell these four Lowgod divine artifacts," Linley decided. "Even if we take a loss, there's no other choice."
A Lowgod divine artifact could only be sold for five Inkstones within the tribe. In the Imperial City of the Wings, it would be bought for seven Inkstones, while the Imperial City of the Wings would sell them to others for ten Inkstones. Lowgod divine artifacts were the cheapest and least valuable.
No sooner said than done.
After finishing their wine, Linley and the others flew directly towards the black castle at the peak of the highest mountain in the mountain range. On the battlements of the black castle stood over a dozen Demigods. They looked down at Linley and the others but said nothing.
The entire Black Dragon Tribe had nearly twenty thousand people. They all knew each other.
"Linley? You're here?" A person walked out from the side gate of the castle. It was Pafett.
"Mr. Pafett. We've come to sell a few Lowgod divine artifacts," Linley said. Pafett nodded in understanding. "Oh, then follow me." With that, Pafett led the way, entering the castle through the side gate.
Inside the castle, there was actually a smaller castle.
"The inner city is where the lords live, and the outer city is where the ordinary tribe warriors live," Pafett explained. "If you want to sell something in the future, just come in through the side gate and go to that shop. Generally, tribe residents can freely enter the outer city. The guards won't stop you."
Inside the black castle, tribe warriors could be seen everywhere.
"Indeed, all Demigods," Bebe exclaimed in admiration.
Linley's gaze also swept over some people in the distance. He knew they were the warriors of the Black Dragon Tribe. If another tribe invaded, these warriors would be the ones to resist and defend.
"Go on in!" Pafett pointed to the shop in front of them.
Linley and the others entered the tribe's shop. Inside, a single black-haired middle-aged man sat cross-legged on the floor. When Linley and the others entered, the black-haired man opened his eyes, swept a cold gaze over them, and said indifferently, "What do you want?"
Linley was taken aback. Was this the attitude of a shop attendant?
"They're here to sell divine artifacts," Pafett said, walking in from outside.
"Oh. Show me the divine artifacts," the black-haired man said directly.
Linley flipped his hand and produced four Lowgod divine artifacts. These four Lowgod divine artifacts were useless to him. The black-haired man glanced at them and said coldly, "Four Lowgod divine artifacts. All attack-type artifacts. Nothing special. Five Inkstones each. Total, twenty Inkstones!"
The black-haired man flipped his hand, and two Inkstone bars, each about ten centimeters long, appeared in his hand. "Here are the Inkstones. Leave the divine artifacts."
"Oh?" Linley was a bit surprised. There were actually bar-shaped Inkstones. But judging by volume, one bar-shaped Inkstone was indeed equivalent to ten Inkstones. Although surprised, Linley placed the four divine artifacts on the ground and took the two Inkstone bars the black-haired man tossed over.
After exchanging for twenty Inkstones, Linley and the others lived a peaceful life in the Black Dragon Tribe. They cultivated quietly, waiting for the half-year to pass before setting off for the Imperial City of the Wings.
The Black Dragon Tribe's continuous mountain range spanned a thousand miles. Thousands of black dragons would occasionally fly out or dive back into the mountains. The residents of the Black Dragon Tribe lived a peaceful life. However, a thousand miles away from the mountain range—
A black tiger, as large as a mountain, and a golden wolf of similar size were flying side-by-side towards the Black Dragon Tribe. Both giant monsters were enormous in size, but their flying speed was astonishing, producing explosive sounds as they flew.
"Boom, boom, boom~"
The thousand-mile distance was quickly covered.
Inside the courtyard Linley had built on the mountainside, Linley was sitting cross-legged, quietly cultivating the fusion of the 'Pulse of the Earth' and 'Earth Element' profound mysteries. His main body and his Earth-style divine clone were both cultivating the Laws of the Earth, both trying to fuse these two elemental profound mysteries as quickly as possible.
"Enemy attack!"
"Enemy attack!"
A piercing sound instantly echoed throughout the entire Black Dragon Tribe, startling Linley, who was in the middle of his cultivation.
"What's wrong?" Delia walked out of the house. At that moment, Bebe flew into the courtyard from outside, looking very excited. "Wow, Boss! Two huge monsters came from outside. Later, I realized that a large number of God-level experts flew out from inside those monsters. There are several thousand of them!"
"Enemy attack?" Linley frowned. "It must be the tribe's enemies."
Linley was a bit worried. He didn't know the details of those enemies at all. What he feared most was... if the enemies defeated the Black Dragon Tribe and then massacred everyone. That would be dangerous. It wasn't impossible. After all, divine sparks were also wealth.
Perhaps they really would massacre the Black Dragon Tribe.
"Let's go out and take a look!" Linley said immediately. "If things look bad, we'll leave." Linley knew his own capabilities.
With that, Linley and the others flew out. When they flew out of the residence, they saw that the entire mid-air of the mountain range was filled with figures. Almost all the residents of the Black Dragon Tribe had flown out. The tribe's army had already appeared and was confronting the enemy.
Linley and the others flew over and merged into the large crowd.
"Linley, you're here!" Linley's neighbor, Quete, saw Linley and the others and immediately flew over to greet them.
"So this is our Black Dragon Tribe's army. It looks very impressive," Linley said admiringly. In the distance ahead, over a thousand warriors, all uniformly dressed in black battle robes, stood in neat formation. The killing intent emanating from over a thousand Demigods made Linley's heart tremble.
Quete said proudly, "Of course. Look over there. That one with the short golden hair. That's my brother!"
"Rachel! I didn't expect you to actually join forces with this wolf. It seems I, Stedton, haven't treated you badly!" A burly figure, at least two meters tall, in the center of the Black Dragon Tribe's army roared loudly. "Don't you know this wolf's character? If you give up today, I wouldn't mind giving you a million Inkstones. What do you say?"
Linley raised an eyebrow. "Chieftain Stedton?"
Linley immediately looked over. Stedton was extremely burly, also wearing a black robe. Standing in mid-air, he was like a mountain, feeling unshakable.
"Haha! Ridiculous! Kromann's character is at least a bit better than yours. Besides, a million Inkstones? If you gave me half of the Galder Black Dragons, that would be something else." From the enemy army, a man three meters tall, with fuzz on his face, his head looking like a tiger's head at first glance, showed no respect for the Black Dragon Tribe's Chieftain, Stedton.
The other man, a thin figure in a golden robe, smiled sinisterly. "Stedton. You monopolize these thousands of Galder Black Dragons. Don't you think you're being too greedy? If you're willing, divide the thousands of Galder Black Dragons into three shares, one for each of us. Then I and Rachel will immediately take our men and leave. What do you say?"
"Hmph!" A cold snort sounded. Stedton's cold gaze swept over. "These Galder Black Dragons were obtained by me at the risk of my life. Why should I give them to you?"
Mingling in the crowd of the Black Dragon Tribe, Linley was startled inwardly. "It sounds like the enemy is a coalition of two tribes. That's trouble."
"Haha..." The tiger-headed giant, Rachel, laughed loudly. "Kromann, let's stop wasting words with this Stedton. Let's just kill him directly and split the Galder Black Dragon herd between our two tribes."
The thin man in the golden robe, Kromann, sneered, "Brother Rachel is right."
"Damn it!" Stedton's face twisted with ferocity. He immediately sent a divine sense message, "First Battalion! Mass soul attack!"
Nearly eight hundred warriors in the Black Dragon Tribe's army swung their weapons almost simultaneously. Countless virtual phantoms, dense and numerous, flew out from the weapons.
"Kill!" The two enemy leaders also gave the order immediately. The enemy army, nearly three thousand strong, was very skilled. Over a thousand of them also released soul attacks simultaneously.
A vast number of virtual phantoms filled the area between the two armies, either colliding and dissipating in mid-air, or, if they didn't collide, rushing directly towards the other side.
"Good heavens! If tens of thousands of people launched a combined soul attack, even a Highgod would probably be finished," Linley said, dumbfounded.
