Chapter 40: A Brook? An Ocean?

Go to the Abyss?
Olivia’s words made almost everyone in the hall look at him. Linley was somewhat surprised and said, “Olivia, you’re going to the Abyss tomorrow? Why the rush? You can go to the Abyss anytime, and right now, the Yulan continent still has the Necropolis of the Gods opening again in a thousand years.”
Most of the experts still remaining on the Yulan continent were focused on the Necropolis of the Gods.
“The Necropolis of the Gods?”
Olivia laughed bitterly. “So what if I stay on the Yulan continent? Do you think, Linley, that I, Olivia, can contend with Adkins or compete with Lord Azureflame? I’m just a lesser god. Staying here, I can only watch from the sidelines. I might as well head to the Abyss early.”
“The Abyss!” Olivia’s gaze grew distant, as if he were imagining the scenes in the Abyss. “The legendary high-level plane, the ‘Abyss,’ is a place where top experts from countless material planes gather. The number of experts there, and their complexity, is billions of times greater than the plane prison!”
Everyone present—whether Linley, Bebe, Delia, or Tarosa, Dillin, the War God, and others—felt a deep tremor in their hearts.
They all had some understanding of the number of experts in the plane prison.
But compared to the high-level plane ‘Abyss,’ the Gobada plane prison was just a small fry. After all, the high-level plane ‘Abyss’ had attracted experts from countless material planes for countless years. Just how many experts there were was probably impossible to calculate.
“Right now, the Yulan continent plane seems to have quite a few experts. But the Yulan continent is like a babbling brook, while the Abyss is a boundless ocean filled with endless danger. Though dangerous, it also holds infinite opportunities and endless challenges!”
Olivia’s eyes lit up. “The Abyss. I dream of going there! That’s my stage!”
No one tried to persuade Olivia anymore.
Because…
Olivia’s words had even made Linley, Tarosa, and the others feel a bit itchy. Indeed, the plane prison only locked in a few people every ten thousand years? The vast majority of experts went to the high-level planes instead. And they came from countless planes.
It could be said—
The total number of experts from countless material planes’ corresponding ‘prison planes’ probably couldn’t match the number of experts in the ‘Abyss.’
“A brook? An ocean?” This also resonated with Linley’s heart.
Indeed, the Yulan continent was a peaceful, clear, babbling brook. Once Adkins, Leilin, and the others left, Linley would definitely be one of the most powerful beings in this ‘brook’ of the Yulan continent. But if Linley entered the Abyss, stepping into that dangerous ‘boundless ocean,’ there would be countless beings more powerful than him. There, he would encounter people who had trained for far longer than him, or who were even more talented, or who came from even more terrifying backgrounds.
Yet, that vast Abyss ignited the hot blood in Linley’s heart.
A life with challenges was what made people excited and thrilled!

Late at night, indoors, Linley and Delia lay in bed.
“Linley, what are you thinking about?” Delia asked softly.
“Me?” Linley snapped back from his thoughts. He had been thinking about the high-level plane ‘Abyss.’ Linley had never been there and could only imagine. “Thinking about the Abyss. I wonder what it looks like and what’s in that Abyss plane.”
Delia’s brows furrowed slightly. She understood that Linley was also a bit eager to go to the Abyss.
Deep down, Delia didn’t want Linley to go. In her heart, she didn’t want Linley to experience danger time and again. The feeling of constant worry and fear would drive her to collapse. But Delia didn’t say anything… She knew.
If she loved Linley, she couldn’t put too many restraints on him.
She respected Linley’s decision.
Linley sighed inwardly. He also knew Delia’s thoughts, but precisely because of this, Linley felt even more grateful to Delia. She had been silently sacrificing for him all along. Linley suddenly remembered the wind-element divine spark he had obtained.
“Delia, look, what’s this?” Linley flipped his hand, and a black divine spark emitting a cyan glow floated before Delia’s eyes.
Delia’s eyes lit up. “A wind-element divine spark? This… is this the divine spark of that Niff?” Linley had already told Delia everything that had happened in recent years. Delia also knew that Linley had three divine sparks on him.
They were the earth-element highgod divine spark that had fallen into Linley’s hands when Bernice’s clone was killed, the fire-element highgod divine spark left behind when Anras’ assassination failed, and this time, Niff’s wind-element highgod divine spark.
“Refine it,” Linley said with a smile.
Delia looked at Linley and finally accepted it. Delia also knew… given her talent, especially since she had become a god by refining a divine spark, if she relied on her own insights to break through, it would probably take countless tens of thousands of years before she could possibly succeed.
After dripping blood to absorb the divine spark into her body, Delia rested her head on Linley’s chest and said softly, “This divine spark was hard-won by my husband.”
Linley couldn’t help but smile.
“Delia, I’ve heard that in the Abyss, some large families directly use divine sparks to cultivate their disciples into highgods,” Linley said admiringly. “Refining three divine sparks in a row makes one a highgod. That speed is absolutely astonishing.”
Refining divine sparks was a sign of low talent.
Experts generally wouldn’t refine divine sparks. Because even after complete refinement, the divine spark and soul weren’t one hundred percent compatible. The difficulty of fusing profound mysteries was a hundred or a thousand times greater than for those who became gods on their own.
“I will definitely work hard to learn how to better use these laws and profound mysteries,” Delia said.

The next morning, even though a ray of sunlight was shining, it still felt a bit chilly. But a large group of people from Dragonblood Castle had already gathered in the front courtyard training ground. Everyone was there to see Olivia off.
This time, only Olivia was setting off for the Abyss.
Dillin, Tarosa, Xise, the War God, and the others were all waiting until the Yulan continent matters were settled before leaving.
“Olivia, you little brat, be careful in the Abyss. Don’t get killed off too soon, haha…” Dillin laughed and slapped Olivia on the shoulder. A sharp light flashed in Olivia’s eyes. “Killed off? It’s not that easy to kill me.”
Linley and the others all smiled and exchanged a few words with Olivia.
“If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll run into everyone in the Abyss,” Olivia said with a carefree smile. “I won’t say much more. I’ll be off now.” With that, Olivia took a deep look at Linley.
Linley felt the meaning contained in Olivia’s gaze.
Olivia stared at Linley and said, “Linley, I’ll be waiting for you in the Abyss. Don’t you go hiding in this little brook forever.” After saying this, Olivia soared directly into the air.
Linley was momentarily stunned.
Delia, Wharton, and the others all looked at Linley.
“A brook?” Linley’s heart was very complicated.
“Linley!” A voice directly rang in Linley’s mind. Linley was startled. It was Lord Beirut’s voice. “Linley, you just returned from Tongluo Mountain not long ago, right? In the next couple of days, bring Bebe to me.”
“Bring Bebe?” Linley was a bit puzzled. What did Beirut want Bebe for?
“When you and Bebe come over, I’ll tell you. Remember, come as soon as you can. Don’t put it off too long,” Beirut said with a laugh.
“Then I’ll come right away,” Linley replied.
“No rush. This time, Bebe will probably be staying with me for quite a while. You two might not see each other for a long time,” Beirut said.
“Huh?” Linley was a bit surprised, but Beirut didn’t elaborate and withdrew his divine sense.

The next afternoon, the sky was a clear azure, like a washed blue porcelain plate, with a few white clouds floating on the horizon.
Two figures were flying side by side through the air. It was Linley and Bebe. The two of them had left Dragonblood Castle together and were heading straight for the metal castle in the Dark Forest. Bebe was also a bit curious. He didn’t know why Beirut wanted to see him.
And from the sound of it, this time he would be separated from Linley for a long time.
The boundless Dark Forest stretched for thousands of miles. Even from several miles up in the air, one could still feel its endlessness. When they saw the metal castle, Linley and Bebe dove down, feeling the ancient aura emanating from the Dark Forest wash over them.
“Come in.” Beirut’s voice rang in Linley’s mind.
Linley and Bebe immediately flew into the metal castle’s gate.
“Come to think of it, I’ve never been inside this metal castle before,” Linley said to Bebe with a smile. Bebe grinned happily. “Boss, this metal castle is no ordinary place. It’s very unique and also very interesting.”
Linley was intrigued by Bebe’s words.
He couldn’t help but carefully examine the metal castle. The layout inside was very nice. Moreover, the color of every metal part in the castle could change. For example, the floor was made of a purplish-red metal, so shiny it could reflect people.
Some metal had even formed into the shapes of rockeries, and the garden was filled with all kinds of flowers.
“These flowers aren’t created by the metal castle itself, are they?” Linley asked Bebe.
“No, they’re not,” Bebe shook his head. “But all the metal items here were transformed by the metal castle itself. Boss, this metal castle is very magical. If you want it to turn into something, it can turn into it.”
As Linley and Bebe talked, they arrived at the living room.
Beirut was holding a very thick book and reading it. Without looking up, he said, “Come in.”
Linley entered the living room and glanced at the book’s pages. “Huh? This script doesn’t seem to be the same as the Yulan continent’s script,” Linley thought to himself.
“Curious about the script?” Beirut looked up at Linley and then laughed. “This is from a very ancient time. I don’t know how many billions of years ago. Back then, there were no humans on the Yulan continent plane. It was the era of the goblin civilization. This is the script from that time.”
“But the language we speak on the Yulan continent now was passed down by the plane guardian not long after humans were born. It’s the same as the languages of the four high-level planes: the Abyss, the Celestial Realm, the Netherworld, and the Divine Life Plane,” Beirut said.
Linley nodded.
“Beirut grandpa, why did you call me back? Is there something?” Bebe asked directly.
“Of course there is,” Beirut laughed. “The laws and profound mysteries you comprehended when you became a god are the ones innately granted by our Godeater Rat bloodline upon reaching adulthood. To be honest, you haven’t actively comprehended any profound mysteries yourself. This time…”
Halfway through his sentence, Beirut suddenly looked south in surprise. “Huh? This guy…”
“Buzz~~”
In an instant, the elemental energy of the entire Yulan continent plane—not just the Yulan continent, but also the vast North Sea, the Arctic Icefield, and the almost boundless South Sea region—began to churn. In the South Sea region, the elemental energy even formed terrifying tides.
Boom~~~
Fortunately, the South Sea region was extremely vast. By the time this terrifying elemental tide reached the Yulan continent, it had diminished to mere elemental tremors. But even these tremors shocked the cultivators who could sense elemental energy.
“What… what’s going on?”
Linley immediately released his divine sense, instantly covering the entire Yulan continent. “The range of this elemental tremor is huge. And the source seems to be in the south.” No matter how strong Linley’s spiritual energy was, he couldn’t trace the origin of this elemental tremor to its end.
“A grand gesture, a grand gesture!” Beirut, however, was smiling.
