Chapter 33: Unquenchable Anger

“Divine sparks can be digested?” The bald, burly man and the white-robed middle-aged man, both intermediate gods, descended from the sky. The bald, burly man ‘Burgess’ widened his bull-like eyes, staring at Bebe. “This divine spark is practically indestructible. It’s tens of thousands of times harder than a divine artifact!”

In the Gobada Plane Prison, powerful beings fought each other.

Regardless of the level of combat, divine sparks could never be damaged. In terms of hardness, even Linley’s Bloodviolet Godsword couldn’t compare to a divine spark.

“Theoretically, divine sparks are indestructible,” the white-robed middle-aged man nodded in agreement.

“Divine sparks are very hard. Even with my powerful teeth, I can’t chew them up,” Bebe said helplessly, wiping his nose.

“You wanted to chew them up?” Even Linley, hearing this, felt like scolding Bebe. But seeing the hint of slyness in Bebe’s eyes, Linley didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “This little rascal Bebe is getting more and more slick. I wonder who he learned it from.”

Bebe deliberately let out a long sigh. “Can’t chew them, so I have no choice but to swallow them whole and slowly digest them.”

“Digest them.” Burgess and the other man still found it hard to believe.

“What, you don’t believe me? I’m a divine beast.” Bebe deliberately lifted his head. “I’m the second God-eating Rat in countless planes. Beasts like the ‘Swallowing Sky Beast’ and the ‘Ba Serpent’ exist in many other planes, but they’re not as rare and precious as me, the ‘God-eating Rat’.”

Linley chuckled inwardly: “Bebe knows that ‘Swallowing Sky Beasts’ and ‘Ba Serpents’ exist in other planes—he probably heard it from Lord Beirut.”

The Swallowing Sky Beast and the Ba Serpent were divine beasts that, at least in the Yulan Continent plane, only had one of each.

But there were too many material planes, and since Dylin and Tarossa had never been to other planes, they had no idea how many divine beasts existed elsewhere.

“Linley, Bebe, come with us to our place. Third brother is waiting for you there,” the white-robed middle-aged man said with a smile.

“Mr. Leylin?”

Since it was an invitation from the mysterious ‘Leylin’, Linley and Bebe didn’t refuse. They immediately followed Burgess and the white-robed middle-aged man, flying toward the earth-element mansion.

Back in the valley where Linley had been training.

A stone in the corner of the valley suddenly dissipated, transforming into Leylin, who was wearing a dark red robe. Leylin looked eastward, his gaze seeming to pierce through the void. A faint smile curled at the corner of his mouth. “Hmph. It seems this highgod hasn’t gone mad yet and hasn’t immediately come for revenge.”

“But Linley’s rate of progress still exceeds my expectations,” Leylin praised. “That purple longsword of his should be a highgod artifact. The killing intent it contains is so strong. I wonder how many powerful beings have died under that divine sword.”

“Still, I can’t let my guard down.”

Leylin’s brow furrowed deeply. “If that highgod suddenly attacks, Linley is far too weak compared to him. I might not even be able to save him in time. I need to prepare early!”

When Anras came to Copper Gong Mountain, Leylin could easily detect him.

But if it were Sadista, especially if Sadista deliberately suppressed his aura, and if Leylin didn’t actively release his divine sense or use his abilities to scout, he wouldn’t be able to detect Sadista quickly.

“Looks like I’ll need to be careful for a while longer.” Leylin smiled, then, with a slight tremor of the surrounding earth elements, he vanished into thin air.

The mansion, entirely condensed from earth elements, sat on the mountainside. By the time Linley and the others were still flying, Leylin had already returned to the mansion.

When Linley and the others landed in the mansion’s courtyard, they saw Leylin sitting leisurely, drinking fine wine.

“Third brother, we’ve brought Linley and Bebe. What do you want them for?” the bald, burly man ‘Burgess’ said boisterously.

Leylin put down his wine glass and smiled at Linley and Bebe. “You two, sit down first.”

Linley was a bit puzzled: “What does Leylin want us for?”

“For the time being, you’ll live in this mansion. If you want to train, Linley, you can do it in the courtyard,” Leylin stated his request bluntly.

Linley and Bebe were taken aback.

“Mr. Leylin, live here with you?” Linley hesitated.

Leylin laughed heartily. “What’s the matter? Is my place not good enough? Or are you worried about damaging my residence? Don’t worry, the walls here aren’t as fragile as you think. Even if they get a little damaged, I can easily repair them.”

“That’s not what I meant,” Linley quickly said. “Since Mr. Leylin requests it, Bebe and I will impose on your hospitality.”

Linley and Bebe both held great respect for the master of Copper Gong Mountain, ‘Leylin’. First, he was incredibly powerful. Second, he had indeed been very good to them.

After all, according to what Sadi had said, Leylin would not guide the same person twice within ten years.

“Linley, I saw your battle with that intermediate god clearly. It’s truly impressive that you managed to apply the ‘Earth Pulse’ to soul attacks in such a short time,” Leylin praised.

“Actually, I haven’t fully mastered that move yet,” Linley said, feeling lucky. “In that critical moment, I didn’t have time to think. I used both the Bloodviolet Godsword and the Black Heavy Sword at the same time. Luckily, the Black Heavy Sword’s strike succeeded in the end, or I wouldn’t have been able to kill that intermediate god.”

Leylin nodded, then said seriously, “Linley, there’s something I need to warn you about.”

“Please speak, Mr. Leylin.” Linley immediately focused.

Leylin nodded. “Linley, to be honest, the soul attack you used with the Bloodviolet Godsword was far too weak. You simply channeled your soul power through that divine artifact and launched it at the enemy’s soul. The only highlight of that move was incorporating the Sound of Wind mystery.”

“I advise you, in critical moments against strong opponents, not to use that attack. In terms of soul attacks, its power is far inferior to your ‘Earth Pulse’ move. The gap is enormous.”

“It is indeed very weak,” Linley admitted to himself.

The Whisper of the Wind, though a soul attack, didn’t involve any profound mysteries. It was just channeling spiritual energy into the Bloodviolet Godsword and releasing it.

That was all.

When the Whisper of the Wind clashed head-on with Anras’s ultimate move, ‘Soul Annihilation’, the illusory purple sword shadow formed by the Whisper of the Wind shattered instantly. Its power was far inferior.

When Linley himself comprehended the ‘Earth Pulse – Void Sword Wave’, he realized how astonishing the power of a soul attack could be when infused with a mystery.

In other words, the Whisper of the Wind merely condensed a mass of spiritual energy into a ‘cone’ and stabbed it into the enemy’s soul.

But the ‘Earth Pulse – Void Sword Wave’ used the ‘Earth Pulse’ to instantly break down a mass of spiritual energy into thousands of spiritual waves. These countless spiritual waves, following a wondrous pattern, merged into a whole—that illusory sword shadow! Once this illusory sword shadow struck the soul, it would unleash wave after wave of spiritual energy, each one following the last, stacking their power to the extreme!

It was like ordinary paper.

Even if you rolled it into a stick, you could snap it with force. But if you cut the paper into a thousand strips and braided them together like a rope, its strength could increase a hundredfold, enough to lift hundreds of pounds.

The amplification and stacking efficiency of the ‘Earth Pulse’ mystery was millions of times greater than braiding paper.

“The soul attack method of the Whisper of the Wind is still inefficient. Only by integrating a law’s mystery can the power be fundamentally enhanced,” Linley understood in his heart.

Leylin smiled. “If your Black Heavy Sword had collided with that intermediate god’s spear, both your soul attacks would have dissipated! His soul attack was about as powerful as yours.”

With Leylin’s keen insight, he could easily judge.

“Oh?” Linley recalled that faint red spear shadow. Its power was indeed immense. “If I didn’t have that damaged defensive divine artifact, I probably wouldn’t have been able to withstand that level of soul attack.”

“Linley, there’s something I’m curious about.”

Leylin frowned at Linley. “That intermediate god’s dying soul strike—even an intermediate god’s soul couldn’t withstand it. How were you able to act as if nothing happened?”

This question had been bothering Leylin for a long time.

“This?” Linley didn’t know what to say.

Should he tell him that he possessed a damaged soul-defense divine artifact? A divine artifact! Even a damaged one would make highgods covet it.

“Haha, I was being too forward,” Leylin laughed heartily. “I shouldn’t ask such questions. Linley, you can stay here for now. If you have any questions about your training, feel free to ask me.”

“Alright.” Linley nodded.

“Make sure you fully master that Earth Pulse soul attack as soon as possible,” Leylin said with a smile.

Linley and Bebe then settled into the mansion, training peacefully. Occasionally, when they were puzzled, Leylin would use metaphors and examples to explain things to Linley. Sometimes Linley would have a sudden realization. If he still didn’t understand, Leylin would let him figure it out on his own.

When it came to training, Leylin could only offer occasional guidance.

Linley’s days of training were peaceful and joyful, but the highgod ‘Sadista’ in the Ro O Empire had been in a bad mood lately.

In the living room, Sadista was dining with two intermediate gods under his command. His face was gloomy, and the two intermediate gods didn’t dare make a sound.

“Bang!”

Sadista slammed his crystal wine glass heavily on the table and stood up to leave the living room. Because he had used too much force, the slender base of the crystal wine glass snapped.

The two intermediate gods exchanged glances.

“Tanner, ever since Anras died over a month ago, Lord Sadista has been in a bad mood. How are we going to resolve this?” the silver-haired middle-aged man said.

They were troubled too.

If Sadista was always gloomy and unhappy, life for his subordinates wouldn’t be easy. After all, they had to stay in the Yulan Continent for nearly a thousand years. Living in fear for a thousand years would indeed be painful.

“Hmm, this needs to be resolved. I’ll talk to my uncle,” the young man ‘Tanner’ said. Tanner was Sadista’s nephew, so he could speak to him about this.

Sadista, wearing a luxurious purple robe, stood in the empty garden. The garden scenery was nice, but Sadista’s mood was foul.

“This Linley, just a lowgod. To kill him, I lost Anras! And now I can’t even go after him!” Sadista felt deeply aggrieved.

He could indeed kill Linley, possibly without Beirut knowing.

But if Beirut found out, then Sadista wouldn’t be able to enter the Necropolis of the Gods.

“The Necropolis of the Gods is the most important thing!” Sadista tried to convince himself. For the sake of the Necropolis, he had no choice but to lie low here and not go after Linley. Yet he still felt indignant. After all, Linley was just a lowgod. The resentment in his heart couldn’t be vented.

Frustrating!

“Uncle.” A voice sounded.

Sadista glanced over and said indifferently, “Oh, Tanner. What is it?”

“Uncle, I’ve noticed you’ve been in a bad mood for over a month. Anras is dead and can’t be revived. Besides, he was just an intermediate god. Uncle shouldn’t take it too seriously,” Tanner said.

Sadista snorted but didn’t say much.

He didn’t care about an intermediate god. What bothered him most was that he had suffered a loss and had to swallow it without retaliation. If it were at the hands of a powerful being, that would be one thing. But the one who made him suffer was a lowgod.

How could he be calm?

He wanted to kill, but what if Beirut found out?

How frustrating!
