Chapter 25: The Mystery of Death?
Linley smiled and said, "Your child is now about three miles south of us."
"Three miles south?" The grassland man's face immediately changed drastically. "Is that near Twin Horn Peak?"
"Twin Horn Peak?" Linley was a bit puzzled, but his divine sense also detected that not far from where the child was, there was a mountain peak. The peak was very strange, its top split apart. It might have been weathered by the wind for a long time, giving it a slight curve. These two horn-like peaks resembled the twin horns of a goat.
Bebe said, "Right, not far from the child, there are indeed two peaks that look like goat horns."
The grassland man immediately knelt and kowtowed, saying, "Two lords, please save my child quickly. The area inside Twin Horn Peak is the most dangerous place in the Death Mountains." This father was clearly too worried about his son; he kowtowed so hard that his scalp broke, and blood stained the stone ground.
Linley's divine power surged around his body, preventing the grassland man from kowtowing further.
"We will save your child." Linley placed his hand on the grassland man's shoulder, sending a surge of power from the Life Source Pearl to instantly heal the small wound on the grassland man's forehead.
The grassland man realized that the wound on his forehead had healed instantly, confirming that the two before him were extraordinary experts, perhaps even legendary Saint-level experts. The grassland man looked at Linley and Bebe with eyes full of hope.
"Wait a moment," Linley said. Then, he and Bebe moved simultaneously, disappearing from the grassland man's sight.
The grassland man placed his hands on his chest, tears still in the corners of his eyes. "My boy will be saved. He will definitely be saved."
Death Mountains, Twin Horn Peak.
"The wind at Twin Horn Peak is so strong and strange," Bebe remarked.
Linley nodded slightly. Strong mountain winds weren't unusual, but the wind here was exceptionally fierce. Gale-force winds howled as they surged into the area around Twin Horn Peak. However, once the wind entered, it made no sound, as if the area around Twin Horn Peak could swallow the wind.
Fortunately, the child was still some distance from Twin Horn Peak.
"His father is frantic looking for him, but this kid fell asleep here." Bebe and Linley both stood beside the child, who was wearing a red cotton-padded jacket. The grassland child had a rosy little face, wore a felt hat, and was curled up next to a rock. His small face was dirty and had tear stains.
It seemed that after getting lost, the child had probably tried to find his father.
But in the mountains, it was hard to tell directions. Even adults unfamiliar with the area could easily get lost, let alone a child.
"Hey." Bebe gently pinched the child's nose.
"Mm, mm~" The sleeping child wrinkled his nose. Because he couldn't breathe, he eventually woke up. Bebe naturally let go. When the child saw Linley and Bebe, his eyes lit up with surprise.
"Big brothers, help me find my father. I can't find him." The child sniffled, about to cry again.
"You little rascal, will you run off again?" Bebe teased.
"I was just chasing a rabbit. I remembered the way, but later, somehow, I couldn't find my father. I searched and searched, then it got dark. I looked for a long time. It was so cold at night, and my stomach was so hungry. I fell asleep." The child looked at Bebe with his big, dark eyes, sniffling as he spoke.
"Come on, big brother will take you to find your father." Bebe picked up the child.
Linley and Bebe flew directly into the air. Although the straight-line distance to the child's father was only about three miles, walking through the winding mountain paths would take at least ten miles to reach him.
"I wonder how much this child has suffered," Linley thought to himself.
"Wow~" The child's eyes widened.
He was in Bebe's arms, flying in midair. Clearly, this little one had never flown before. He was so excited he could barely contain himself, forgetting how pitiful he had been moments ago. "We're flying! Wow, big brother, you're amazing!"
Bebe's eyes narrowed into slits as he laughed.
"Father! I see my father!" The child immediately pointed at a figure below. The grassland man below also saw Linley, Bebe, and his child. He waved excitedly from below.
Linley and Bebe landed.
"Go to your father," Bebe said, setting the child down on the ground.
"Father!" The child ran over immediately.
The grassland man cried tears of joy, hugging his son. "My boy, you scared your father to death! I told you not to run off, but you still did." As he spoke, the grassland man wept. He had been searching for his son since yesterday, an entire night and most of the day.
"I won't run off again," the child said quickly.
"Hurry and thank the two lords." The grassland man had heard that Saint-level experts could fly. Since both of these could fly, they were probably Saint-level experts. The grassland man pulled his son to kneel and express their gratitude.
"Thank you, big brothers," the child said immediately.
Linley and Bebe both smiled. In truth, they had helped many people along their journey.
"Just listen to your father from now on," Linley said with a smile. "Alright, we need to be going."
The child quickly said, "Big brothers, my name is Walsh. I will definitely come find you one day. I'll fly to find you!" Linley and Bebe laughed, then bid farewell to the father and son before continuing on their way.
Linley and Bebe headed toward Twin Horn Peak. This peak clearly held some mysteries, so they naturally wanted to investigate. "That child was really cute," Bebe said. Linley sighed, "Seeing that father and son reminds me of Sini."
"Sini?" Bebe was a bit surprised.
Linley nodded and said, "Back when the Bosha Dam was split open and O'Gavin first arrived on the Yulan Continent, he destroyed the palace of our Baruch Empire. At that time, in the entire palace, only Sini and Anke survived. Sini's son, Little Casa, also died. Even after all this time, Sini still feels deep pain."
The descendants of the Dragonblood Warriors were few. Twenty years had passed, and although Sini had remarried, he still had no children.
Naturally, Sini had always harbored deep hatred for O'Gavin.
Back then, when O'Gavin suddenly attacked, the two Purple-Gold Rat Kings intervened. In fact, during that encounter, the two Purple-Gold Rat Kings had a chance to kill O'Gavin. However, Linley and Sini were both shocked by the sudden appearance of the mysterious expert.
How could they let anyone kill O'Gavin?
After O'Gavin and his group left, he had been hiding in the imperial capital of the O'Brien Empire ever since. Linley and the others had no chance for revenge.
"This revenge must be taken," Bebe said firmly. "When the opportunity comes, we must not let O'Gavin get away again."
Linley nodded slightly.
But to kill O'Gavin, he still lacked sufficient strength for now.
"Twin Horn Peak is here," Bebe said.
At the base of Twin Horn Peak was a canyon. The wind howled like a wild beast as it surged into the canyon. Strangely, although the mountain wind was extremely strong, once it entered the canyon, not a sound could be heard.
Linley and Bebe, confident in their abilities, stepped directly into the canyon. The raging wind couldn't move them an inch.
"There are quite a few bones in this canyon," Bebe said, frowning.
Linley nodded slightly. The canyon walls were uneven, with bulges and depressions... The entire canyon was very peculiar. At the entrance, the howling wind could still be heard, but once Linley and Bebe walked deeper into the canyon, they couldn't hear a sound.
"Strange. Very strange," Bebe clicked his tongue.
Linley frowned deeply, staying alert as he cautiously moved forward.
"There are so many skeletons. I wonder how many people have died here." Linley looked at the white bones a dozen meters ahead. They had clearly been there for a long time.
"Hmm?" Linley suddenly felt his heart twitch violently, and his head spun dizzily.
"Someone attacking?" Linley snapped back to alertness, startled. He immediately used divine power to protect his internal organs.
"Bebe, be careful," Linley warned.
He was currently using his main body. Ever since his main body had absorbed the golden blood, its toughness had surpassed that of a divine body. For such a powerful body to feel heart twitching and dizziness, it had to be an external attack.
Bebe also cautiously scanned the surroundings. "Boss, there's no one here," Bebe transmitted telepathically.
"I was just attacked," Linley said with certainty. "An invisible attack."
"Why wasn't I attacked?" Bebe was also worried. This kind of invisible attack was the most insidious.
Linley and Bebe remained on guard for a while, but found nothing.
"Hmm? No." Linley tried withdrawing the divine power protecting his internal organs. Sure enough, the feeling returned. His heart twitched, and his head felt faint. However, Linley could still stay clear-headed. He spread his spiritual energy to observe carefully.
Only then did Linley clearly discover—
The howling wind, after surging into the canyon, underwent changes due to the canyon's peculiar shape. The wind-element particles in the space collided with each other, producing a strange kind of sound wave. This inaudible sound wave continuously spread outward.
Linley's heart twitching, internal discomfort, and dizziness were all caused by this sound wave entering his body.
When Linley usually trained in the "Speed Principle," he often studied the mysteries of sound. Over twenty years, although he hadn't achieved great success, he had gained some understanding. Linley knew clearly... sound was simply sound waves transmitted to the ears, which people naturally heard.
But the sound waves in this canyon were very peculiar. The ears couldn't hear them, yet they harmed the body.
Even Linley's powerful body was affected. It was only natural that ordinary people who entered here would die.
"Hmm? This is..."
A flash of insight lit up in Linley's mind.
"So, these sound waves actually contain such profound mysteries..." Linley was overjoyed.
"Bebe, I need to train for a while," Linley transmitted directly to Bebe. Without further ado, his divine clone flew out of his main body, sat cross-legged in the canyon, and began to sense the peculiar "sound waves."
Not only his divine clone, but Linley's main body also sat down to study and comprehend the mysteries contained in the sound waves.
Bebe was a bit stunned. "Boss has had another insight into something?"
"The more Boss comprehends, the better!" Bebe was delighted. He sat down beside Linley. Since Linley was training, Bebe decided to protect him.
Linley's sudden inspiration to train caught Sadista off guard. Sadista had been hoping Linley and Bebe would separate so he could order his subordinates to kill Linley. But now, he had no chance at all.
Linley's training made him completely lose track of time.
His divine clone and main body both sensed the sound waves, beginning to comprehend and cross-reference each other. The divine clone focused on audible sound waves, while the main body studied the inaudible ones. Cross-referencing them... Linley's understanding of sound improved at an astonishing rate.
Time passed. In the canyon, both of Linley's bodies soon became covered in a layer of dust.
Bebe also immersed himself in training.
Two years flew by.
No one dared to approach the Twin Horn Peak canyon. Linley's two bodies and Bebe remained seated cross-legged. The strange, inaudible sound waves continued to emanate from the canyon.
"Hahaha..." The thick layer of dust on Linley's body flew off.
Linley's two bodies merged into one, and his face was full of smiles. "Haha, I was wrong, I was wrong. In the Wind Elemental Laws, sound should be divided into two aspects: one is the Sound Wave Mystery, and the other is the Sound Melody Mystery. The Sound Melody Mystery and the Sound Wave Mystery, when fused together, can be considered the Sound Principle!"
