Chapter 14: Two Strong Join Forces
Within a mansion in the Bryan Empire.
This was Augus’s current residence. Today, Augus had ordered his servants to prepare an extremely lavish feast, specifically to invite his good friend ‘Hambritt’. Augus and Hambritt sat facing each other, eating and chatting.
“Augus, I feel like you have something special on your mind today. Just say it directly.” Hambritt said with a smile.
Augus chuckled softly.
“I really can’t hide anything from you, brother.” Augus said with a sigh, a trace of grief in his eyes. “Hambritt, you also know about my son being killed. This matter, I haven’t been able to forget for a single moment.”
Augus gave a bitter laugh. “To be honest, this kind of mental torment, I… I’m going crazy.”
Hambritt also knew how deep the bond between Augus and his son was.
“By the way, I haven’t asked yet. How did your son Kingsley die?” Hambritt asked curiously. “Was it at the hands of that strongman who drove you out of the Baruch Empire?”
“No.”
Augus shook his head. “If it had been at the hands of that strongman named Tarosa, I could have accepted it. After all, my strength is still slightly inferior to his. I could calm myself down, continue cultivating, and wait for the day my power surpasses Tarosa’s before seeking revenge.”
“But the one who killed my son was a Demigod!”
“A Demigod?” Hambritt was very surprised.
Augus couldn’t help but nod and curse. “Yes! A Demigod! It’s fucking maddening. Just a Demigod, I could kill him with a flip of my hand. But now, I have no chance to kill him.”
“Augus, you mean you want me to…” Hambritt could guess.
Augus looked at Hambritt sincerely. “Hambritt. Our friendship isn’t just a year or two old. I must avenge my son’s death. But the enemy is a bit strong. I think… if you help me, the two of us joining forces, even with Tarosa protecting him, we can definitely kill that Olivia easily.”
Hambritt couldn’t help but hesitate.
“How many Demigods are on the enemy’s side?” Hambritt inquired.
“Two. One is that Tarosa, and the other… seems to be called Dylin. But he looks like a newly advanced Demigod, much weaker than you.” Augus explained.
Hambritt nodded slightly.
But Hambritt had a feeling. Augus was inferior to Tarosa, and Dylin was inferior to him, Hambritt. Comparing the two sides’ strength… the difference wasn’t actually that great.
“Can’t you ask Bernice or Gatenby to help?” Hambritt suggested. “If you could get one of them, the three of us joining forces would give us absolute certainty. And doing this would be very easy.”
Under Adkins’ command, there were originally three Deities: his most trusted Bernice, the most taciturn Gatenby, and this Hambritt. In terms of strength, Hambritt was actually at the bottom.
“Bernice looks down on me entirely.” Augus said indignantly. “As for Gatenby, that block of wood, convincing him won’t work in a short time either.”
Hambritt was also aware of those two and nodded.
“Hambritt, rest assured. I’m asking you to come, not to fight Tarosa to the death. It’s only to kill that Demigod ‘Olivia’… Like this, when we get there, I’ll use my avatars in a short time to entangle Dylin and Tarosa. Your task is to kill Olivia within that short time. How about it?” Augus suggested.
Hambritt listened.
This plan really had no danger for him.
“Augus, you say it’s simple, but the actual situation is hard to predict. This matter… I still need to consider whether it’s worth it or not.” Hambritt deliberately said this.
Augus sneered inwardly.
He understood that without giving something up, Hambritt would definitely not help.
Sure enough…
After offering a decent divine artifact, Hambritt agreed to help. Augus and Hambritt also discussed that they would set off directly for Dragonblood Castle around dusk that evening, seize the opportunity, and kill Olivia in an instant.
*******
Dragonblood Castle.
At dusk, the sky darkened.
Linley, Dylin, and Tarosa were walking side by side. The three headed toward the main hall while discussing cultivation topics.
“Linley, I feel like your training seems a bit off.” Dylin said with a frown.
“Off?” Linley was a bit puzzled.
Linley had originally cultivated this way to create ‘Wind’s Whisper’.
“I can see that you’re figuring out how to better use the ‘Sound Essence’ of the Wind Elemental Laws to coordinate with your Bloodviolet Flexible Sword, unleashing stronger attacks, right?” Dylin said. Linley nodded.
Dylin continued, “Doing this can indeed increase your attack power in a short time. But from a cultivation perspective, it’s a waste of time.”
“What you’re doing is actually taking shortcuts.
You’re focusing on the ‘Bloodviolet Flexible Sword’, and the Sound Essence you’ve comprehended is meant to coordinate with it. But once you leave the Bloodviolet Flexible Sword, what you’ve comprehended can’t be used with other weapons. That won’t work. Moreover, this way, it’s hard to reach perfection in the ‘Sound Essence’.” Dylin said seriously. “I advise you to start from the basics.”
“Cultivating the Essences of Elemental Laws should go from simple to deep, step by step… That way, no matter what weapon you use, you can unleash powerful Sound Essence attacks.”
Linley was stunned, then smiled.
“Lord Dylin, I know this.” Linley sighed. “It’s just that not long ago, so many strongmen descended on the Yulan Continent, and I felt pressured, so I used this shortcut method to train. Now that you’ve arrived, I haven’t thought much about it and kept using this method.”
“It seems I really should start from the basics and gradually comprehend.”
Linley nodded.
“Good that you understand.” Dylin also smiled. As they spoke, they reached the main hall.
“Huh?” Linley glanced inside the main hall. “Olivia isn’t here yet. Lord Tarosa, you two wait here. I’ll go call Olivia over. We’ll all gather together tonight.”
Linley said this and entered the East Garden, heading toward an independent courtyard.
…
The sky was gloomy. Two figures instantly streaked across the sky, rushing toward Dragonblood Castle. They were Augus and Hambritt. Augus’s heart was filled with killing intent, especially thinking about soon killing that Olivia. He couldn’t help but feel excited.
“Hambritt, I’ve already told you what Olivia looks like. When we get there, we’ll simultaneously spread our divine sense over the entire Dragonblood Castle. The moment we find Olivia, you strike immediately. I’ll fly over with you to prevent that Tarosa from interfering.” Augus transmitted mentally.
Hambritt nodded, a hint of killing intent flashing in his eyes. “Don’t worry. Just a Demigod. This time, I’ll attack with full force and definitely kill that Olivia in an instant.”
“We’re here. Ahead is Dragonblood Castle.” Augus’s breathing became a bit heavy.
“Wait, on my command, we’ll simultaneously spread our divine sense and dive down side by side. We must do it as fast as possible.” Augus said.
Hambritt didn’t say much.
He definitely had to kill Olivia in the shortest time possible. The shorter the time, the lower the chance of fighting Tarosa and the others.
…
At that moment, in the courtyard.
Olivia had just stopped cultivating.
“Let’s go. Everyone’s waiting for you.” Linley said with a smile.
The two walked side by side toward the door.
“I don’t know why, but I’ve felt a bit uneasy today. Even during training, it took me a long time to fully calm my mind and immerse myself in cultivation.” Olivia frowned and sighed. “My heart feels flustered. I really don’t understand.”
Linley smiled. “Don’t overthink it. If you’re really flustered, why not just go into my pocket dimension chamber?”
“There are already enough people in there. I won’t join the crowd.” Olivia laughed.
The two walked along the path in the East Garden. At that moment, two divine senses instantly covered the entire Dragonblood Castle. These were the divine senses of Deities. Linley and Olivia had no awareness at all and continued walking and chatting.
The moment the divine sense covered everything—
Two figures dove down from high altitude at astonishing speed, their target being Olivia!
…
“Not good!!!” Tarosa and Dylin were both Deities. They sensed this divine sense. Naturally, they also spread their divine sense and discovered the two Deities diving down from high altitude toward Linley and Olivia.
Two Deities!
Tarosa and Dylin were shocked.
“Swish!” “Swish!”
Tarosa and Dylin instantly accelerated to their maximum speed, rushing toward Linley and Olivia. At the same time, they transmitted mentally to Linley and Olivia: “Get to the main hall, fast!!! That Augus has come to kill!” The voice rang in Linley and Olivia’s minds.
Linley and Olivia reacted quickly, almost simultaneously darting toward the main hall.
But…
Augus and Hambritt had originally been at an altitude of a thousand meters. Their diving speed was extremely fast. Dragonblood Castle was also large, and the distance from the main hall to the East Garden was nearly a thousand meters.
“They’ve come to kill Olivia.” Linley guessed as he dashed.
In terms of speed, Linley was much faster than Olivia.
“Boom!” Suddenly, a deafening sound erupted not far behind Linley. The mere shockwaves from the impact caused the surrounding ground to crack, and the nearby walls instantly shattered into dust. Fortunately, there were no servants or ordinary people on this path.
“Olivia!” Linley turned back to look.
A terrifying roar sounded. Linley felt the entire space tremble faintly.
“Dylin…” Linley saw Dylin opening his mouth at that moment. Augus and the other person were actually being sucked in by a powerful force.
“Augus, is this what you called a newly advanced Demigod, a weakling?” Hambritt transmitted mentally, cursing angrily.
“I don’t know either!” Augus’s heart was bitter.
He had never expected Dylin to be so terrifying. Just now, as the two dove down, Augus had thought that even if Tarosa and Dylin came to stop them, he alone could split into two avatars and hold them off for a short while.
But just as he was about to reach Olivia, this terrifying suction force appeared out of nowhere.
He and Hambritt combined were barely able to resist Dylin’s suction, managing a stalemate.
Augus instantly split into two people: a Light God avatar and a Fire God avatar. Augus’s two divine avatars and Hambritt, the three of them together, resisted the suction force, barely holding on.
“As expected of a Devourer Beast!” Linley marveled inwardly.
Divine beasts were extremely powerful. They naturally became Demigods upon reaching adulthood. Their innate talent was unimaginable.
Daring to be called a Devourer Beast, Dylin’s suction ability was thousands of times stronger than his three sons’. Now a Deity, once ordinary Deities were sucked in by him, they were as good as dead.
“Saved again.” Olivia had also flown to Linley’s side, feeling a lingering fear. At the same time, he looked at Dylin in amazement. “Linley, Dylin’s strength is too terrifying. What ability is this? Which Elemental Law does it belong to?”
Linley didn’t know what to say.
Which Elemental Law did it belong to? Who knew.
“Bebe is also a divine beast, daring to call himself a ‘God-Eating Rat’. So, what is his innate ability?” Linley wondered inwardly.
