Chapter 1: The Planar Prison
We’re in huge trouble!!!
Linley, Olivier, and Desri had just barely managed to kill Beaumont with great effort, when a swarm of powerful beings, like a plague of locusts, erupted from beneath the Bosha Dam. The auras of many of them made Linley, Olivier, and the others tremble at their cores.
Immediately afterward, Beirut appeared.
With a single palm strike, he sealed the hole from which the countless experts had emerged.
Seeing Beirut’s ashen face, Linley and the other two felt a surge of confusion and panic in their hearts.
“What… what exactly is going on?” The series of events left Linley and the others feeling frantic.
“I’ll deal with you three later.” Beirut snorted coldly at them, then flew directly downward. The waters of the Yulan River parted to make way. It was then that Linley and the others noticed that beneath the Bosha Dam was a spatial gate.
The spatial gate was now completely sealed by black energy.
“So, beneath this Bosha Dam is a passage to another space,” Linley and the other two realized.
Desri transmitted via soul voice, “Olivier, that sword strike of yours must have destroyed a massive magic array. Look, there are still traces of the damaged array around here.” Indeed, beneath the Bosha Dam lay an extremely complex magic array.
It was precisely this enormous, intricate magic array that had completely sealed the spatial gate.
Black streams of energy emanated from Beirut’s body as the complex magic array below slowly began to reform. This array was thousands of times more intricate than any magic array Linley had ever seen. Even the magic array deep within the Misty Valley of the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts, where the violet-blood soft sword was embedded, was far inferior to the one before him.
“This magic array…”
Linley stared at the broken, colossal magic array revealed at the riverbed. It exuded an ancient aura, with mysterious and complex lines. Ordinary level seven or level eight magic arrays, Linley could barely understand. But this one… he was completely clueless about.
Complex!
Profound!
It took nearly an hour for Beirut to fully repair the damaged magic array.
“Sizzle~~” Beirut extended his hands into the void. The shattered black ore of the Bosha Dam seemed to melt like flames, and large amounts of it fused back together, reforming the Bosha Dam. The dam, suspended before Beirut, slowly descended, covering the massive magic array beneath it.
“Boom!”
The Bosha Dam sank deep into the riverbed. At the same time, the vast waters that had been pushed aside once again crashed against the dam, continuing to flow as before.
“Olivier’s sword strike must have pierced through the Bosha Dam and destroyed that massive magic array, which allowed all those powerful beings from the other side of the spatial gate to rush in,” Linley deduced in his heart.
At the same time, Linley couldn’t help but marvel, “The power of that magic array is truly astonishing, to be able to seal away so many experts.”
The mysteries of magic arrays were indeed vast and profound.
Unfortunately, Linley had never studied them, nor did he have the time or energy to do so.
Beirut looked into the distance. The commotion here had drawn the attention of many ordinary people far away, who were watching from a distance.
“Follow me.” Beirut cast a cold glance at Linley, Olivier, and Desri, then flew directly north. Linley, Olivier, and Desri didn’t dare to speak and obediently followed behind Beirut.
During the journey, Desri transmitted via divine sense, “Linley, Olivier, how many experts do you think we accidentally released just now?”
Olivier remained silent.
After all, this mess was Olivier’s fault.
“Although it was a short time, I think…” Linley recalled the terrifying scene of countless beings swarming out like a hive of bees, “In that brief moment, at least a thousand experts must have rushed out.” Linley wasn’t sure exactly how many had entered the Yulan Continent.
“This trouble is my fault. I’ll take responsibility,” Olivier’s voice echoed in Linley and Desri’s minds.
“Hmph, take responsibility? How do you plan to do that?” Beirut’s cold snort rang out, and his rapid flight suddenly stopped.
Below them was a continuous mountain range. Linley, Olivier, and Desri hurriedly stopped as well, standing respectfully before Beirut. However, the three of them were deeply shocked… Olivier had just transmitted his voice to Linley and Desri.
Yet Beirut had heard it.
“Olivier, do you know how much trouble you’ve caused?” Beirut snorted coldly.
Olivier gritted his teeth and tried to lift his head to meet Beirut’s gaze. “Lord Beirut, I will do my best to bear all the consequences.”
“Bear the consequences? You can’t even repair the sealing array set up by the Sovereigns, and you talk about taking responsibility?” Beirut snorted coldly.
Set up by the Sovereigns?
Linley and the other two were stunned. The Sovereigns were so distant, practically part of the laws of heaven and earth themselves.
“It seems… this time, we’ve really messed up,” Linley felt that they had truly caused a catastrophe.
“Repairing this sealing array alone requires the strength of a Highgod. Olivier, can you repair this array?” Beirut glared at him coldly. Olivier didn’t dare to speak now, knowing full well how serious the situation was.
Linley, however, had a sudden thought.
It was obvious…
“Beirut must be a Highgod,” Linley concluded in his heart.
“Lord Beirut,” Linley began, looking at him.
“Speak,” Beirut nodded calmly.
“Lord Beirut, may I ask where that spatial gate leads?” Linley inquired curiously. “Why did so many Deity-level experts emerge from it? And… in recent years, why have so many experts from other planes appeared in our Yulan Continent?”
Linley and the other two Deity-level experts were filled with confusion.
Beirut glanced at them. “Actually, this isn’t a big secret. Whether it’s the Deity-level experts who appeared a few years ago or those just now, they all come from the Gebados Planar Prison.”
The Gebados Planar Prison?
Linley had heard of this place several times before. Dylin was also from there.
“What exactly is the Gebados Planar Prison? And why do so many experts escape from it to our Yulan Continent plane?” Linley asked. Olivier and Desri didn’t dare to speak.
Desri trembled at the sight of Beirut, while Olivier knew he was the one who had caused the trouble. Among the three, only Linley dared to ask.
“The Gebados Planar Prison, speaking of it…” Beirut shook his head with a faint smile. “In reality, it is one with the Yulan Continent plane.”
“One?” Linley and the other two were all stunned.
Beirut gazed into the distance, almost as if talking to himself. “In this vast, infinite space, there are countless ordinary planes. Each ordinary plane has a corresponding prison plane. The material plane and the prison plane can be said to be two sides of the same coin.”
Linley, Desri, and Olivier found this hard to believe.
Originally, they thought the Gebados Planar Prison was a specialized prison plane in the infinite space for imprisoning experts. But now, it seemed that every material plane had its own prison plane, and they were two sides of the same coin.
“Linley, do you three know how long the Yulan Continent plane has existed?” Beirut looked at Linley and the others.
Linley, Olivier, and Desri exchanged glances, all looking confused.
Who knew how long the Yulan Continent plane had existed?
At best, some vague historical records could trace back hundreds of thousands of years.
“I’ll tell you. I alone have lived on the Yulan Continent plane for millions of years,” Beirut said. “As for how long this plane has existed, you can’t even imagine.”
“A hundred million years?” Linley offered a number he thought was enormous.
A hundred million years was indeed a very long time.
“A hundred million years?” Beirut shook his head dismissively. “I’ll tell you, this Yulan Continent material plane has endured many calamities. In the distant past, more than ninety percent of this plane’s surface was land.”
More than ninety percent was land?
But now, the Southern Sea alone covers over ninety-nine percent. How did all that land turn into ocean?
“This land has gone through many eras. As far as I know, there was the Beastman Era, the Primordial Era… Through generation after generation, although humans appeared a very long time ago, it was only about a hundred million years ago that humans truly took control of the Yulan Continent plane!”
Linley and the other two listened quietly, not daring to speak.
“I’m telling you, material planes are formed by heaven and earth, not created by any Overgods or Sovereigns. The material planes formed by heaven and earth are even more ancient than the Seven Divine Planes and the Four Higher Planes,” Beirut said seriously.
Linley nodded inwardly.
Formed by heaven and earth, naturally, they were very ancient.
“I don’t know the exact time, but what I do know is that the Yulan Continent has existed for at least a hundred quadrillion years!!!” Beirut couldn’t help but get a little excited as he said this.
Linley and the other two were completely dumbfounded.
A hundred quadrillion years?
It sounded simple enough, just a few words. But in reality, it was too exaggerated.
To put it simply, even if the Yulan Continent produced one Deity-level expert every ten thousand years—and the actual number was certainly higher—over a hundred quadrillion years, the total number of Deity-level experts in Yulan Continent’s history would exceed a quadrillion.
And that was just the Yulan Continent plane.
“A hundred quadrillion years is only what I know. As for the exact time of its existence, you’d probably have to ask the Sovereigns for an accurate answer,” Beirut knew that even the Sovereigns had cultivated to their level over time. Only the Four Overgods were manifestations of the Four Rules.
When heaven and earth formed, the Overgods already existed.
Only they would know exactly how long the material planes had existed.
Linley took a deep breath to calm his racing heart. Desri and Olivier were no different.
They were all outstanding individuals of their generation, but placed in the suffocatingly long river of time spanning a hundred quadrillion years, they were likely just ordinary figures among countless geniuses and experts.
“Surprised?” Beirut sneered. “Every material plane has a corresponding prison plane. The Gebados Prison Plane corresponds to our Yulan Continent plane. Throughout Yulan Continent’s history, any Saint-level or Deity-level expert who angered the Plane Guardian would be thrown into the planar prison.”
“The Plane Guardian?” Linley couldn’t help but recall Hodan.
Beirut said calmly, “Of course, there are special circumstances. The Plane Guardian of the Yulan Continent plane is Hodan. But since my homeland is here, naturally, I take charge of matters concerning the Yulan Continent plane. Hodan doesn’t get a say.”
“Whether intentionally or unintentionally, experts who anger the Plane Guardian aren’t many, but small amounts add up, and the total becomes astonishing.”
Beirut sighed. “Not to mention other times, just in the ten thousand years I’ve been in charge of the Yulan Continent plane, I’ve imprisoned over a thousand experts in the Gebados Planar Prison. Of course, that’s also due to special circumstances. Under normal conditions, a few are imprisoned every ten thousand years.”
“Those imprisoned are at least Saint-level. They won’t starve to death. Even if they don’t break through, they can live indefinitely,” Beirut looked at Linley and the other two. “Linley, calculate it. Say three per ten thousand years. Over a hundred quadrillion years, how many would that be?”
Linley and the other two did the math, and one by one, they were dumbfounded.
The number was simply too terrifyingly huge.
