Chapter 29: Distribution of the Divine Spark
The night was very deep.
A group of people at Dragonblood Castle could not fall asleep. When Linley set off to fight the Great Wizard to the death, Taylor, Gates, and the others did not know about it. Only Wharton and Sessler were aware. However, after Linley left, Wharton and Sessler told everyone about the matter.
Sessler thought it through clearly.
If Linley could not return, he still had to tell Taylor and the others about this.
If Linley succeeded in returning, it would be a great celebration, and everyone should share in the joy.
Regardless, it was better to let everyone know.
The candles in the main hall of Dragonblood Castle were lit, and a large crowd gathered there. When they learned from Sessler and Wharton that Linley was going to fight a god-level powerhouse to the death, they were all stunned. Now they could only wait here anxiously.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded.
“Mother, why have you come out of seclusion?” Taylor, who had been thinking about Linley’s battle with the god-level powerhouse, glanced over. Upon seeing the newcomer, he couldn’t help but speak in surprise.
“You’re all here.” Delia forced a faint smile.
Originally, Delia had planned to wait patiently in the secret room of the micro-plane, but she found that she couldn’t calm down. Her heart was filled with worry. So, she directly came out of seclusion. She would wait for Linley’s return at Dragonblood Castle.
“Does everyone know?” Delia looked around at the group.
Wharton, Nina, Gates, Barker and his five brothers along with their wives and children, Taylor and his group, Hillman, the steward Hiri, and others all nodded.
Delia nodded slightly.
The group all waited with hope and blessings, looking up at the endless night sky, hoping to see that familiar figure.
“Everyone, don’t worry. From here to the Great Canyon is several thousand miles. Just the round trip flight will take a good while,” Wharton said, trying to console them.
“It’s Father!” A delighted voice rang out. It was Sasha, who had been staring at the night sky.
Instantly, everyone looked toward the night sky.
Sure enough, the figure in the sky-blue robe appeared in midair and floated down gracefully. Delia, Taylor, and Sasha rushed forward excitedly.
Looking at this large crowd, Linley felt happiness welling up in his heart.
“Delia, Taylor, Sasha.” A faint smile was on Linley’s face. Among the large group, he was the calmest one.
“Lord Linley, did you kill that god-level powerhouse?” Gates shouted excitedly from behind. Wharton, Sessler, and the others also looked at Linley. Delia was deeply worried… she feared that Linley had escaped after losing a body.
“Of course.” Linley grinned.
Immediately, the faces of the large group bloomed with smiles.
“That’s great!” Taylor was extremely excited. “My father has killed a god-level powerhouse! No one should sleep tonight. I’ll immediately have people prepare fine wine and food. Tonight, we’ll have a grand celebration.”
“Right, a celebration!” Gates also shouted loudly.
“A celebration!” Linley nodded with a smile. As steady as he was, he was also incredibly happy at this moment. Before the battle, Linley had been anxious in his heart, but now, not only was he completely unharmed, but Yale had also regained himself. Linley was naturally overjoyed.
Tonight, Dragonblood Castle was more lively than ever before.
The festivities lasted until the sky was faintly lit. Only then did everyone gradually disperse. However, Linley and Delia kept Sessler behind.
In a living room of Dragonblood Castle, Sessler looked at Linley and Delia. He had some inkling of why Linley had kept him behind. He had long speculated that the god-level powerhouse was an expert who cultivated the Edicts of Death.
Linley had killed the Great Wizard and would surely have obtained some items, some of which others could not use.
“Lord Linley?” Sessler’s face was beaming with a smile, though his terrifying appearance made even a smile unsettling. “Why have you kept me here?”
Linley directly tossed a spatial ring over.
“Sessler, this spatial ring was used by a god-level powerhouse. It should be much better than yours. Drip blood on it to bind it, and then take out everything inside.” Linley trusted Sessler greatly. In truth, if Sessler deliberately hid some items, Linley wouldn’t know.
“Yes.” Sessler took the spatial ring with trembling hands.
He didn’t care much about the spatial ring itself, but he was covetous of the god-level powerhouse’s belongings. After dripping blood to bind it,
Sessler waved his hand and took out a large pile of items from the spatial ring, nearly filling half the living room. Most of it consisted of plants, bottles and jars, and some ores. Sessler’s eyes lit up at the sight of many of these items.
“Soul Gold Pearl?” Linley saw a golden pearl stored in a transparent bottle. He could sense the dense soul aura emanating from it.
Through the Coiling Dragon Ring, Linley directly stored the Soul Gold Pearl into it. In truth, of the golden liquid formed from those soul essences, Linley had only absorbed about one percent so far. To absorb it all, Linley estimated it would take half a year.
However, Linley could clearly feel the benefits of a strengthened soul.
“Lord Linley, many of these materials here are extremely precious and beneficial to me as well. However, these two divine artifacts should be for warriors to use,” Sessler said, pointing to the two divine artifacts he had taken out.
Linley couldn’t help but smile.
That Great Wizard not only had the black scythe but also two other divine artifacts.
“Sessler, do you want to become a god?” Linley looked at Sessler with a half-smile. Delia, sitting beside Linley, also looked at Sessler with a gentle smile.
Sessler was stunned.
“Become a god?” Sessler was a bit dazed. Become a god? Who wouldn’t want that?
As clever as he was, he understood from Linley’s words what Linley intended to do. Yet Sessler still found it hard to believe. He was very clear on the importance of a divine spark. Even Dein, when he received a divine spark from Linley, was so grateful.
A divine spark was equivalent to creating a god.
“Are you saying you don’t want to?” Linley asked back. “If you don’t, then forget it.”
“I do, of course I do,” Sessler said quickly.
“Haha…” Linley looked at Sessler’s expression and burst into laughter. Delia chuckled beside him and said, “Delia, stop teasing Sessler. Where’s that death-attribute divine spark? Give it to Sessler.”
“This is the divine spark of that god-level powerhouse. Go and refine it properly.” Linley flipped his hand and produced the Great Wizard’s divine spark, tossing it directly to Sessler.
Watching the divine spark fly toward him, Sessler felt as if his whole body was floating, as if walking on clouds.
This was a divine spark! Once he refined it, he would become a god!
Sessler couldn’t help but swallow his dry throat. Trembling, he extended both hands to catch the divine spark. At this moment, Sessler felt as if the divine spark in his hands weighed billions of pounds, and his hands trembled uncontrollably.
“Lord Linley, thank you, thank you.” Sessler was extremely grateful.
Before meeting Linley, he had been a ninth-level necromantic archmage, eventually reaching the Saint-level.
But Sessler knew his own talent well… It had taken him over eight hundred years to reach the Saint-level. To reach the Deity-level would likely take tens of thousands of years.
Who would have thought that, without any hardship, a divine spark would come before him?
“Don’t say so many thank-yous. But Sessler, you need to work hard. Your comprehension of the laws is better than Barker’s, and Barker started refining his divine spark before you. I’m curious to see which of you will become the third god-level powerhouse of Dragonblood Castle,” Linley said with a smile.
There was no doubt that the second god-level powerhouse of Dragonblood Castle should be Delia, as she had already refined most of her divine spark.
“Rest assured, Lord Linley, I will work hard.” Passion was rekindled in Sessler’s heart!
Countless experts on the continent, including a large number of Saint-level powerhouses, all aimed to become gods.
Then Linley let Sessler take his leave.
“Linley, in a few decades, Dragonblood Castle will have five god-level powerhouses,” Delia said with a smile. “Linley, Delia, Sessler, Barker, and Bebe, who will reach adulthood soon. Five!” Delia sighed with emotion.
“I don’t know why.”
Linley frowned. “Delia, I always feel a bit uneasy. The Yulan continent right now is like a murky lake. No one knows what’s inside, and no one can predict what experts might emerge from it.”
“Mm.” Delia nodded slightly.
This Great Wizard had suddenly appeared, along with the mysterious god of faith, “Muba.” These were only the ones Linley knew about. In recent years, many Saint-level powerhouses had emerged on the Yulan continent, all of whom had never been heard of before.
Who knew when a Demigod might suddenly appear?
Even if Linley and his group had a numerical advantage, a large gap in strength would render it useless.
“Linley, maybe we should let someone use that wind-attribute divine spark,” Delia suggested. “Desri and the others haven’t come to see you in recent years. I think they won’t come asking for the divine spark anymore.”
Currently, Linley still had one unused wind-attribute divine spark.
A single divine spark, after decades of effort, could produce a god.
“Wind-attribute divine spark?” Linley pondered for a moment. “No rush. We’re not short of one god-level powerhouse.”
After this battle, Linley’s life returned to tranquility. His divine clone devoted itself entirely to cultivating the “Profound Truths of Velocity.” Currently, Linley’s “Profound Truths of Velocity” had only reached a certain stage, far from completion.
After all, mastering the Profound Truths of Velocity meant that the two major realms of “Fast” and “Slow” would both be fully comprehended and perfectly fused into one, achieving the “Profound Truths of Velocity.”
At that point, Linley would step into the Demigod level.
“At this rate, who knows how long it will take. A thousand years? Ten thousand years?” Linley himself had no idea. The more he cultivated, the more he felt the vastness and complexity of the Profound Truths of Velocity.
At the same time, Linley’s main body was also focused on cultivating the “Profound Truths of the Earth.”
Because Linley’s main body was absorbing soul essences, his soul was continuously growing. In just three months, he had only absorbed half of the golden liquid of soul essences. The volume of Linley’s main body’s sword-shaped soul had increased by a full size, and the essence of his soul had grown nearly six times stronger. A soul becoming six times stronger was truly astonishing.
In fact, if the Great Wizard had absorbed all twenty million soul essences, his soul would have grown several times as well. Since the Great Wizard’s soul was originally much stronger than Linley’s, Linley’s rapid progress was normal.
The most notable benefit of soul growth was—
The speed of comprehending laws and deducing insights increased dramatically!
When Linley advanced from the Saint-level to the Deity-level, his soul had been tinged with a trace of the laws of heaven and earth, fundamentally changing it and greatly increasing his deduction speed. Now, with his soul six times stronger, his deduction speed was nearly a hundred times faster than when he was at the Saint-level.
Moreover, Linley was still continuously absorbing soul essences, and his deduction speed was still increasing.
In the past, it took him eight years to break through one layer, but now, in just three months, Linley had advanced from the 64th layer of the Pulse of the Earth to the 32nd layer. However, upon reaching the 32nd layer, Linley clearly found that the difficulty of deduction had suddenly increased.
“At this rate, breaking through to the 16th layer of the Pulse of the Earth will probably take over a year. Then, what about breaking through to the 8th layer?” Linley was also shocked.
The Pulse of the Earth became exponentially more difficult as one progressed. From the 256th layer to the 128th layer, and then to the 64th layer, the difficulty increase wasn’t too great. But further on, the difficulty skyrocketed. In truth, the Pulse of the Earth was a relatively profound aspect of the Laws of the Earth. Fully comprehending it at the Saint-level was extremely difficult.
It was fortunate that Linley’s soul had been enhanced and that he had absorbed a large amount of soul essences.
