Chapter 33: The Paths of Four Brothers
Sessler also walked over from behind. When he heard that middle-aged man actually call out the word, he immediately became vigilant. But when he walked up beside Linley, he discovered that Linley was looking at the letter, a smile actually on his face, and a very bright smile at that.
In Sessler’s view, although Linley wasn’t exactly cold and gloomy, he could be considered relatively indifferent, always focused solely on training.
He had never seen Linley smile so happily, so radiantly.
“Sessler.” Linley said with a smile. “Wait here for a bit. I’m going out to see a friend.”
“Alright.” Sessler nodded.
“Bebe.” Linley called out to Bebe, who was lying lazily on the ground in the distance, dozing. Bebe opened his bleary eyes and looked at Linley with confusion.
“Come on, come out with me.”
“Heilu, you stay here.”
Bebe proudly raised his little head at Heilu, then directly leaped onto Linley’s shoulder, happily transmitting through soul communication: “Boss, what are we going out for?”
“You’ll know when we get there.” Linley laughed.
“Lead the way.” Linley instructed the middle-aged man beside him.
……
Fifteen minutes later, Linley followed this middle-aged man to a luxurious mansion. From a distance, Linley could see the tall figure in the living room.
“Third Bro!” That familiar voice rang out excitedly.
“Yale, big bro.” Linley also smiled.
“Squeak squeak~~~” Bebe called out proudly as well. Back when they were at the Ernst Institute of Magic, Bebe had gotten along very well with Yale, Reynolds, and George, so naturally he was familiar with them.
Yale had matured a lot compared to three years ago. At this moment, Yale was about the same height as Linley, both around two meters tall. However, Yale was slightly thinner than Linley, giving him a lean, tall appearance.
The form-fitting black gentleman’s suit, combined with a faint fragrance, gave Yale a very attractive charm.
“Third Bro, these past three years, I’ve been worried to death.” Yale gave Linley a bear hug.
Linley hugged his good brother back, feeling extremely happy inside.
Over three years. He hadn’t seen any of his good brothers even once.
“I didn’t expect you to grow almost as tall as me. Three years without seeing each other, what a big change.” Yale said with a sigh. Compared to over three years ago, Yale’s height hadn’t changed much, but Linley’s had changed considerably.
Linley laughed heartily: “You were originally a year older than me, so you grew taller first. Now that you’ve stopped growing, I’ve naturally caught up.”
Bebe squeaked beside them.
Bebe was also very happy. It had been a long time since he had seen Linley joking around and bantering with someone.
“Wow, Bebe.” Yale hugged Bebe and affectionately rubbed his little head. “Knowing you were coming, I prepared a lot of delicious food for you.”
Yale turned and glanced at a servant. The servant understood Yale’s meaning, and in just a moment, over a dozen servants pushed food carts in.
“These are roasted meat delicacies from various places, Bebe. Have a taste.” Yale laughed heartily.
Bebe sniffed with his little nose, his eyes immediately lighting up. Then he directly turned into a black shadow and charged towards the dozen food carts. Seeing this, Linley and Yale both laughed.
“Yale, big bro, let’s talk inside.” Linley said with a smile.
The two brothers entered the living room. On the dining table in the living room, various delicacies and fine wines had already been set out. The two brothers ate and chatted.
“By the way, Yale. How is the Ernst Institute of Magic?” Linley suddenly asked.
“Finished.” Yale shook his head and sighed. “That Ernst Institute of Magic was too close to Fenlai City, a key target for the magical beasts. You tell me, even the magic teachers in that institute are at most at the eighth rank, and most of the students are very weak. Facing a large horde of magical beasts… how could they resist?”
Linley nodded.
The six grades, the highest grade was only a sixth-rank magus. Most magical beasts were fifth or sixth rank, with quite a few seventh and eighth rank as well. A massive horde of magical beasts attacking was indeed a disaster.
“From today onwards, there is no more Ernst Institute of Magic.”
Yale sighed. “Reynolds, George, and I all left the Holy Alliance three years ago. I’ve spent these three years mainly traveling between the O’Brien Empire and the Yulan Empire. As for Reynolds, of course he went back to his family, and George also returned to the Yulan Empire. I heard George is doing very well; he entered the officialdom of the Yulan Empire.”
“Entered officialdom?”
Linley wasn’t too surprised. George had always been the type who was good at organizing, and with the powerful Hosh family behind him, success wasn’t difficult.
“What about Fourth Bro?” Linley asked with a smile.
“Fourth Bro? After returning to his family, his father sent him into the military.” Yale laughed heartily. “Third Bro, tell me, Fourth Bro joining the army, isn’t that strange?”
Linley also wanted to laugh.
Fourth Bro ‘Reynolds’ was the most lively and rebellious of the four brothers. Yet he ended up in the military. It was easy to imagine Reynolds suffering in the army.
“But I saw Fourth Bro last year. At first glance, he really had changed. He was much more mature than before, and had something of a soldier’s bearing. But once he started drinking with me, he reverted to his old self.” Yale laughed heartily.
“Yale, big bro, what about you? I feel you have even more of an aristocratic aura than before.”
Indeed, standing there now, Yale seemed like a mysterious man from the darkness, his noble aura clearly perceptible.
“No choice.” Yale smiled bitterly. “After leaving the Ernst Institute of Magic, besides my normal magic training, I’ve been managing some of the family’s business. Naturally, I have to attend aristocratic banquets frequently. Doing that often, I just picked up some of it.”
Linley nodded.
His three good brothers had all embarked on their own paths.
Officialdom, the military, the business world.
“And me?” Linley clearly knew his own path in his mind. “Advancing on the path of cultivation, ultimately reaching the level of the High Priest, the War God, Dylin, and others. Standing at the pinnacle of the entire Yulan continent!”
The strongest at the pinnacle possessed the power to dominate everything.
A deity-level expert. No matter what, everything was illusory before them. No one dared to provoke a deity-level expert. Deity-level experts were the beings at the very peak.
No obstacle on this path could stop Linley’s forward march.
Nothing could stop him!
“Third Bro, three years ago when I was in the imperial capital, I saw your little brother.” Yale suddenly said.
“Wharton?” Linley’s eyes lit up.
Yale nodded and smiled: “When I saw Wharton, he was worried about you. He didn’t know what had happened to you. I told him you were fine, just training alone outside.”
“How is Wharton?” Linley pressed.
“Don’t worry, he’s doing very well.” Yale said in surprise. “I didn’t expect your little brother to be even more robust than you. Three years ago, he was already taller than me. He should be even taller now. Those arms, those muscles, tsk tsk!”
Linley smiled and nodded.
Wharton turning out like this was completely within his expectations. Because in the family’s history, every generation of Dragonblood Warriors was extremely strong. For example, the first generation used the warblade ‘Slaughterer’, the second generation used an extremely heavy long spear, and the third generation used an ultimate heavy hammer.
“Linley, your little brother Wharton really knows how to bide his time. He’s been hiding his true strength all along. But after learning about your situation, he stopped hiding and gradually revealed his strength. In the seventh-grade competition a while back, he caused a sensation by defeating an eighth-rank expert.” Yale exclaimed in admiration.
Linley smiled faintly.
An eighth-rank expert?
Wharton was currently at the seventh rank. Wharton could undergo Dragonform. Once he did, he would step into the ninth rank.
“After becoming famous, how is Wharton’s situation?” Linley pressed.
“Wharton was granted the title of Imperial Count. He’s now a rising star in the O’Brien Empire. In a few more years, he might be recruited into the War God’s Gate.” Yale sighed. “Then his chances of stepping into the Saint Realm in the future will be very high.”
“War God’s Gate? Saint Realm?” Linley didn’t want his little brother to enter the War God’s Gate.
A true Dragonblood Warrior entering the Saint Realm was beyond doubt.
……
Linley and Yale chatted for an entire morning. Regarding Wharton, Linley was completely reassured. His few good brothers were also living fairly well.
After finishing lunch.
“Third Bro, this is a token from the Dawson Conglomerate’s Council of Elders, representing your status as an elder. Please accept it.” Yale took out a pitch-black token.
Linley was somewhat stunned: “Elder?”
Back in Fenlai City, Linley had already displayed the strength of a ninth-rank warrior. At that time, Linley was only seventeen. Coupled with his magical talent and his ability to transform into a Dragonblood Warrior, the internal Council of Elders of the Dawson Conglomerate believed that Linley becoming a Saint Realm expert was only a matter of time.
Since that was the case, making Linley an ‘elder’ of the Dawson Conglomerate was definitely the most valuable investment.
“Just accept it. For the sake of our brotherhood.” Yale smiled.
Linley looked at Yale. He understood that accepting this token meant that if the Dawson Conglomerate ever encountered difficulties, he would have to help. It represented both power and responsibility.
“Alright, I’ll accept it.” Linley smiled and put it away. Even without this token, if the Dawson Conglomerate truly faced any trouble, for the sake of his good brother Yale, Linley wouldn’t stand by and do nothing.
“Thanks.”
The two brothers had such a good relationship that many things didn’t need to be said explicitly.
“Third Bro, I feel you’ve restrained your aura a lot more compared to three years ago. Over three years have passed, what’s your strength level now?” Yale lowered his voice and asked curiously.
Linley didn’t hide it: “Below the Saint Realm, I should have no equal.”
Yale looked at Linley with slight surprise.
“Alright, I’ll head back first. I’ll come see you again in a couple of days.” Linley said with a smile.
********
North Sea Province, inside an ordinary small city.
In a quiet courtyard.
“Lord Stedler.” A sturdy warrior called softly outside the room door. “It’s time to depart.”
A moment later, the room’s door creaked open. Stedler’s sharp, blade-like gaze swept over him: “Let’s go.”
“Yes, sir.” This man didn’t even dare to breathe loudly.
Stedler walked out of the courtyard gate. Only then did the others in the courtyard dare to breathe a sigh of relief. Even a single glance from a peak Saint Realm expert could make one’s heart tremble.
“Hurry up.” That man immediately urged.
The others escorted five burly, broad-shouldered men out. These five men were all over two meters twenty tall, with terrifyingly muscular bodies. However, these five brothers were tightly bound by a dark golden rope. No matter how strong they were, they couldn’t break free.
Their mouths were also gagged.
“Mmph, mmph.”
The five brothers let out angry sounds.
“Looking for death, huh.” One of the escorts in black fiercely whipped one of the five brothers, but it only left a white mark. “Damn, this body isn’t just tough.”
……
While Stedler and his group were traveling between the cities of the North Sea Province, Linley entrusted the Rebecca sisters to the care of the Dawson Conglomerate’s people in the provincial capital ‘Basil’. Then Linley, Sessler, Bebe, and Heilu directly set off for the Deks County City.
“There are only two ninth-rank experts in this escort team this time. Not a high difficulty.” On the road, Sessler, sitting on Heilu’s back, laughed. “I really wonder who they are escorting.”
“Sessler, the news of Perry’s death should have reached the O’Brien Empire’s overall person in charge by now, right?” Linley suddenly spoke.
“It should have.” Sessler said. “But they probably won’t think that I used ‘Soul Search’.”
