Chapter 21: Fate
Klyde spoke, and Linley remained silent the entire time.
"Haha, Linley, you should know who your true enemy is by now, right? But can you handle the Radiant Temple?" Klyde laughed wildly, a bit hysterical. Klyde knew he was doomed to die, and at this point, he instead wanted the world to become even more chaotic, the better.
"Are you telling the truth?" Linley said in a low voice.
In truth, Linley already believed what Klyde said, because only this could explain how the Radiant Church was able to bestow a Saint-level magic scroll upon Klyde.
"True or false, you know it yourself." Klyde laughed wildly.
Linley fell silent.
"Linley, think about it. You, a magical genius, and also a Dragonblood Warrior. In the eyes of the Radiant Church, you have far more potential than me, a mere rank 9 warrior elevated through secret arts. In the future, you will be a Saint-level ultimate warrior and a Saint-level Archmage. If not for this reason, even if you had killed me, the Radiant Church probably wouldn't have been willing to kill you." Klyde laughed heartily.
Linley understood this reasoning as well.
"What Klyde said should be true." Doehring Cowart's voice rang out in Linley's mind. With Doehring Cowart's worldly experience, he was far better than Linley at judging whether someone was telling the truth.
Linley trusted Doehring Cowart deeply.
*******
At this moment, on Keyan Street in Hess City, six cold-faced men in purple robes were walking along the street. The naturally emanating cold aura of these six experts caused the surrounding people to unconsciously make way for them.
These six headed directly towards Klyde's mansion.
They were completely unaware of what had happened at Klyde's mansion at this moment.
"Vitas, are the Ascetics up ahead?" one of the purple-robed men said in a low voice.
The leading purple-robed, golden-haired man nodded and said, "Yes, as far as I know, the Ascetics are living here with that Klyde. This mission is very important; it's better for us to set out together with the Ascetics."
These six were six Special Executors of the Inquisitorial Court.
They had just arrived in Hess City from another location. They only knew this address. They didn't know that just a few minutes ago, the Ascetics had already departed. They had only missed them by a short while.
"Hmm, why is no one here?"
When these six stepped into Klyde's mansion, they couldn't help but feel puzzled. The other five Special Executors all looked at Vitas, who was the leader of this operation.
"Let's go inside and take a look." Vitas said indifferently. The six then walked directly towards the interior of the mansion. But the mansion was completely empty.
"Linley, please release my father. My father has told you everything." A voice came from the direction of the back courtyard gate. This immediately caused the six Special Executors to look towards the back courtyard simultaneously.
The six men's faces all turned solemn.
"Linley?"
The six exchanged glances.
"Linley? Listed on the Red List. Kill on sight without question." These six Special Executors immediately and quietly made their way towards the back gate of the back courtyard.
The Inquisitorial Court had two lists: one was the Red List, and the other was the Black List.
Those on the Red List were to be killed upon encounter, but one didn't need to expend too much effort for that target. As for the Black List—the target must be killed at any cost.
In truth, based on Linley's potential, his future threat to the Radiant Church should have earned him a spot on the Black List. However, during the internal escape route, the Church believed that since Linley wasn't inside the Church, the chances of him finding out that his mother was killed by the Radiant Church were very low. So they placed Linley on the Red List.
The Special Executors of the Radiant Church's Inquisitorial Court possessed astonishing strength. These six Special Executors were all rank 9 experts. The six quietly surrounded Linley.
*******
In the small alley behind the back courtyard of the mansion.
Linley's steel-whip-like draconic tail was tightly coiled around Klyde.
"Release my father?" Linley stared at Shack, laughing coldly. "I release your father, but who will release my father and my mother? Although my mother was killed by the Radiant Church, at least half the blame must be placed on your father. And for my father's death, most of the blame also falls on your father."
As Linley spoke, his tail tightened its grip even more.
"Gaa gaa~" Various strange sounds came from within Klyde's body. Klyde struggled in agony as the tail constricted him.
"Aah, aah, Linley, just kill me with one blow." Klyde groaned in pain.
"Crack—"
Klyde's bound arms actually snapped. At this moment, the waist that was being squeezed by Linley's tail was being compressed so hard it was as thin as a woman's slender waist.
"Die."
Linley looked at Klyde and applied even more force with his tail.
"Pfft!" Klyde was squeezed so hard that a large amount of blood sprayed from his mouth. His entire face flushed bright red. As he spat blood, he coughed continuously, and some fragmented kidney tissue also sprayed out.
At this moment—
Klyde's waist was completely severed by the constriction, including his spinal column. The only thing connecting his upper and lower body at the waist was a layer of red, bloody skin and flesh.
Klyde groaned "Aah, aah—" a few times, his face flushed bright red. Within just a few seconds, he completely stopped breathing. His soul vanished directly between heaven and earth.
At this moment, Linley felt no pleasure whatsoever.
All he felt was deep grief and sorrow.
"Father, Mother, did you see that?" Linley said in his heart.
Shack, Caesar, the princess, the members of the Thunderstorm Squad, and others all watched Linley. Many were terrified in their hearts. Seeing Klyde die like this, they dared not seek revenge. They could only pray that Linley would leave.
Linley's dark golden pupils looked at the group of people before him.
"Gulp." Shack swallowed his dry throat, sweat beading on his forehead. His father was dead, but he didn't want to die.
Linley flicked his tail, then abruptly turned around.
"Bebe, let's go."
He transmitted mentally.
Bebe, who had been right beside him, was about to dart away, but suddenly all his fur stood on end. Immediately after, Linley also sensed a feeling of crisis. This dangerous sensation came from all directions.
"Whoosh."
With several sounds of wind breaking, six purple-robed figures appeared in six positions around Linley, directly surrounding him and Bebe. Four of these men stood on the rooftops, while two stood at either end of the small alley. Linley had nowhere to escape.
"Special Executors of the Inquisitorial Court." Seeing the attire of these six, Linley understood their identity.
Shack and the members of the Thunderstorm Squad turned pale at the sight of this formation. These six Special Executors had not only surrounded Linley and Bebe, but they had also surrounded their entire group.
"Gentlemen, I am the Second Prince of the Fenlai royal family. Please let us leave first." Shack immediately begged.
Caesar recognized the attire of the Special Executors and immediately said, "Honored Special Executors, I am Caesar. I am also affiliated with the Radiant Church. May I leave first?" Caesar knew very well about some of the special methods of the Inquisitorial Court's Special Executors. Being here, he wouldn't be able to help at all; instead, he would interfere with them.
"Caesar, you may go."
The purple-robed, golden-haired man standing at one end of the alley said coldly.
"Yes." Caesar immediately ran towards one end of the alley. The six purple-robed men did not stop him and let him escape. Although Caesar was a top expert of the Fenlai Kingdom, he was also a Paladin of the Radiant Church.
"Gentlemen, what about us?" Shack immediately said.
"Special Executor, sir." The princess also looked at the Special Executors pleadingly.
But the six Special Executors didn't even glance at them. They were very clear that if Caesar left alone, and since Caesar was a rank 9 expert, Linley would have absolutely no chance to escape with him. But if Shack's group left, with such a large group leaving, Linley, with his strength, could completely take advantage of the chaos to escape at a critical moment.
Linley coldly watched these six.
"You want to kill me?" Linley said calmly. He had absolute confidence in his heart. Back when he was surrounded by numerous dragons, Linley had still managed to escape with his life.
These six Special Executors wanting to kill him and Bebe was no simple matter. Linley's defensive scales were no joke.
"Listed on the Red List. Kill on sight without question." The leader, Vitas, said with a cold laugh.
The six Special Executors stared unblinkingly at Linley and Bebe. As high-ranking members of the Inquisitorial Court, they naturally knew that Linley was a Dragonblood Warrior. This Dragonblood Warrior was an ultimate warrior, so they didn't dare to underestimate him.
"Oh? Kill on sight without question?" Linley's draconic tail began to sway gently.
"Sss—" The tail, like a steel war blade, casually swept across the ground, deeply gouging out furrows. Linley's dark golden pupils focused on the group before him.
"Special Executor, sir!" Shack and his group were truly terrified.
"Go!" One of the Thunderstorm Squad members roared in a low voice. Instantly, a group of Thunderstorm Squad members charged towards one direction of the alley. Among these Thunderstorm Squad members, there were over ten rank 8 experts. With them charging like this, even a rank 9 expert would find it hard to easily stop them.
Linley's eyes lit up.
Linley directly charged towards the wall on his left, completely ignoring the wall in front of him. Like a heavy magical beast, he slammed violently into the wall.
"Bang!" Linley smashed the wall down, at the same time rushing north at extreme speed.
"Whoosh."
The six Special Executors suddenly emitted a blazing white light from their entire bodies. The white light from these six men completely connected, forming a strange hexagonal star shape.
Linley happened to crash into one of the edges of the hexagonal star.
"Bang!"
Linley felt as if he had been struck by the paw of a Violet-Striped Black Bear. His whole body trembled as he was sent flying back, still trapped within the six men's encirclement.
"Ah—"
As for those Thunderstorm Squad members who crashed into the edge of the white hexagonal star, their bodies directly exploded, blood splattering everywhere. Every Thunderstorm Squad member who touched the white hexagonal star died instantly.
"What is this?" Linley was shocked.
"Linley, quickly, fight to the death to escape. This should be a joint attack technique of the Inquisitorial Court." Doehring Cowart immediately saw the danger for Linley and Bebe. If they remained surrounded like this, Linley and Bebe might not be able to escape at all.
The six purple-robed Special Executors, however, very skillfully charged directly towards Linley and Bebe. As the six approached Linley, the volume of the hexagonal star began to shrink rapidly.
"Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!" "Ah!" ...
The dozen or so people, including Shack, who hadn't crashed into the white hexagonal star, were unable to escape because the six purple-robed Special Executors were gathering quickly. One by one, they couldn't avoid touching the white hexagonal star. Anyone who touched it would violently convulse and then explode.
In the blink of an eye, Shack and his entire group were all dead.
Linley and Bebe were instantly surrounded, leaving only a very small space.
"Boss, that white thing is incredibly powerful. What do we do?" Bebe said anxiously.
Linley also felt the power of the white hexagonal star. The blow that had struck him had caused intense pain even through his defenses, and the blood within his body had boiled.
"Bebe, you go through the ground, I'll go through the air. Escape!" Linley transmitted directly through his soul.
Linley, the monster completely covered in black scales, and the Shadowmouse, almost simultaneously, one shot into the air like an arrow from a bowstring, and the other burrowed into the ground.
