Chapter 6: Magic Books
This mansion was top-notch in both layout and decoration.
In particular, the "Spring Garden" delighted Linley greatly.
The "Spring Garden" in the mansion was where King Clay had trained when he lived here. Clay was a rank 9 expert, and becoming a rank 9 expert was naturally not something that could be achieved through talent alone; it required years of arduous training.
The right half of the Spring Garden had a very wide grassy area, beside which were various pieces of exercise equipment.
The left half of the Spring Garden featured a rockery and a hot spring pool. The hot spring water in this pool was drawn from underground. After intense training, soaking in this hot spring pool was truly a divine and wonderful enjoyment.
Linley was soaking naked in the pool, the rolling warm water washing over his body. The wonderful sensation made Linley close his eyes in comfort.
"Boss, when are we going to kill that Paterson? Last night at the banquet, I wanted to help you make a move." Bebe burst out from the bottom of the water, his fur completely soaked.
"Don't be impatient."
Linley said as he walked out of the pool, changed into a training suit, and stepped onto the grassy area on the right. He began to silently chant a magic incantation. After a moment, surging earth-type elements began to gather around Linley, and a yellow-brown light covered the ground beneath his feet.
Earth-type magic – Gravity Spell.
Linley leaped into the air, then immediately flipped upside down, supporting himself on his hands in a handstand. Then he used one finger on each hand. Relying on one finger from each hand, under the coverage of the Gravity Spell, Linley began continuously bending and straightening his arms.
"One. Two..."
Linley counted silently. Every time he reached a thousand, he would switch fingers.
For a warrior's training, the most important thing was the body. Only a stronger body could withstand enough battle qi. Only then could one improve faster! Even for a Dragonblood Warrior, regular physical training still had to continue.
"Hmm?"
After training for about half an hour, Linley returned to an upright position. He coldly stared at the pretty maidservant who had entered the Spring Garden. The maidservant was carrying a tray on which were placed tea and fruit.
"Mi... Milord, this is tea and fruit." The maidservant stammered under Linley's gaze.
"Who allowed you to enter?" Linley said coldly.
The maidservant was stunned. Stammering, she said, "Milord, I... I was worried you might be thirsty."
"Thirsty?" Linley glanced at her expressionlessly.
"Guards!" Linley shouted.
Immediately, four burly warriors rushed in from outside the Spring Garden. These four warriors were all from the Radiant Church. The Radiant Church had sent a hundred-man knight squad specifically responsible for Linley's safety.
"Milord, spare me!" The maidservant was so frightened she immediately knelt down.
On the Yulan continent, the status of nobles was much higher than that of commoners. Especially great nobles, who could even kill commoners at will. As for Linley, even the King of Fenlai didn't use his status to pressure him. Linley was undoubtedly one of the highest-ranking great nobles in the Kingdom of Fenlai.
Linley glanced at the maidservant and said coldly, "Remember, from now on, during the time I am in the Spring Garden, no one is allowed to enter. Anyone who enters will receive 20 strokes."
"20 military strokes?" The maidservant's face turned deathly pale.
Those military batons were very heavy. Even a strong warrior hit with twenty strokes would be unable to move for ten days to half a month. A weak woman might even be beaten to death.
"Milord, spare me! Milord, spare me!" The maidservant quickly begged.
Linley continued, "Considering this is your first offense, I will punish you with twenty lashes of the rattan whip. If you offend again, I will show no mercy."
"Thank you, milord! Thank you, milord!" The maidservant breathed a sigh of relief.
In terms of pain, the rattan whip lashing the body might be even more painful than the military baton. But the rattan whip only hurt the skin and flesh, without damaging the internal bones, organs, or viscera. It was painful but not life-threatening.
"Take her out." Linley ordered the four warriors.
"Yes, Lord Linley." Two of the four warriors stepped forward, directly grabbed the maidservant, and carried her away. The tray with tea and fruit was left on the ground nearby.
Linley turned back and walked onto the grass.
The divine sword 'Purple Blood' was one of Linley's hidden weapons. When using it, Linley generally kept it in a straight state. However, he occasionally used its curved, erratic form. Linley didn't want outsiders to know the secret of the divine sword 'Purple Blood'.
Naturally, he couldn't allow others to watch his training.
Linley touched his waist with his right hand, and instantly a cold, dazzling purple light flashed. An extremely thin purple longsword appeared in Linley's hand.
"Whoosh!"
In the Spring Garden, streaks of purple light appeared, while Linley himself moved like a swimming dragon, constantly weaving through the space. The wind-type auxiliary magic 'Superspeed' perfectly coordinated with his own strength. Linley's movement speed was not only fast but also extremely agile.
Cultivating the "Dragonblood Codex", training his body rigorously. During breaks, he occasionally engaged in sculpting to improve his mental energy. In the hot spring pool, he meditated to train his mental energy.
Linley's training was integrated into every moment of his life.
But Linley still hadn't found the perfect moment to deal with Paterson. After all, Paterson and Linley didn't have a close relationship. If Linley went directly to Paterson's mansion, or if Paterson came to Linley's mansion, once Linley killed Paterson, King Clay would probably know within half a day.
No matter how great Linley's potential was, once he killed Clay's own younger brother, Clay would certainly show no mercy.
In the living room, Linley was elegantly eating lunch.
After finishing lunch, Linley's mind returned to the matter of Paterson. "This Paterson hasn't come to see me for several days. It seems I'll have to make a move myself." Linley decided not to wait passively anymore and prepared to go directly to Paterson's house.
"Milord." A servant outside ran over quickly. "Milord, the Radiant Church's Red Cardinal, His Eminence Guillermo, has arrived."
"Guillermo?"
Linley paused for a moment, then immediately walked towards the door. He had to greet him personally.
Inside the living room.
"Linley, I heard you're living a very leisurely life. All day, it's either training or soaking in the hot spring, occasionally doing some stone carving. Such a life is truly enviable." Guillermo said to Linley with a laugh.
Linley nodded and smiled.
"But Linley." Guillermo said seriously, "Let me remind you, although your stone carvings are very valuable, what truly determines a person's status is strength! Take the Debs family, not far from here. The Debs family is wealthy, right? But in terms of status, they are inferior to you."
Linley understood this principle in his heart.
Money was indeed useful.
But when one's strength reached an extremely high level, the usefulness of money diminished. For example, for Saint-level experts, money was just an external possession. That's why the Dawson Chamber of Commerce was willing to offer Linley a hundred million gold coins directly, hoping Linley would join them.
For these chambers of commerce, a super expert was far too important.
"Your Eminence Guillermo, thank you for your reminder." Linley said with a smile.
Linley didn't bother to explain that stone carving was the real reason he had become a rank 7 dual-element magus at the age of seventeen.
"I'm just saying it. After all, you should also rest sometimes." Guillermo glanced at the white-robed priest behind him. The priest immediately opened the package on his back. After opening this silver-white package, there was a stone box inside.
The white-robed priest placed this stone box between Linley and Guillermo.
"Your Eminence Guillermo, this is?" Linley already had some guesses.
Guillermo smiled smugly. "Linley, open it yourself."
Linley slowly opened the stone box. Lifting the lid, inside the stone box were two silk-bound books. Both books were dark gold in color.
"This?" Linley looked at Guillermo.
"Linley, didn't I say I would give you the magic incantation books for the earth and wind elements? These are them." Guillermo said with a smile.
Linley couldn't help but feel delighted.
Magic incantations and the complex methods of casting magic were indeed very important. Otherwise, even if one's mental energy and magical power improved, they wouldn't be able to cast a more powerful spell.
Linley immediately took out one and opened it.
"Wind element!" Linley flipped to the first page. The first page briefly described the contents of this book.
Then, starting from the next page, it described the various wind-type spells. This book was very detailed, clearly explaining the key points to note when casting each spell.
Linley directly flipped to the advanced spells after rank 7.
The ingeniously conceived and astonishingly powerful spells made Linley marvel inwardly. Linley had to admit that the ancestors who invented these spells were truly geniuses. "Rank 9 spell – Wind Shadow Technique. The principle is to fuse the auxiliary magic 'Superspeed' with 'Wind's Wings', possessing an effect as unique as angel wings. Fast speed, agile movement. Truly perfect..."
Reading the description of the 'Wind Shadow Technique', from simple to profound, Linley felt even more joy.
A brand new world of magic was unfolding before his eyes.
If, in the future, he could use earth and wind magic on himself, combined with the power of a Dragonblood Warrior, the resulting attack power was terrifying to even imagine.
Seeing Linley completely absorbed in the magic books, Guillermo didn't make a sound. He quietly left alone first.
~~~~~~~~
In the Spring Garden.
Linley sat cross-legged on the grass. The bones and muscles of his entire body were trembling. The special power of the Dragonblood Warrior bloodline within him was continuously integrating into every part of Linley's body, causing his physique to improve at a perceptible rate.
"Boss, Paterson is coming tonight. And you're still in the mood to train?" Bebe lay beside Linley, muttering.
Linley opened his eyes and looked at Bebe beside him.
"In the mood?"
Linley's heart was bitter. Paterson had sent someone this morning to inform him that he would visit Linley alone tonight. As the Minister of Finance, Paterson naturally had to maintain good relations with some great nobles. He had been busy with the matter of smuggling water jade ore these past few days and hadn't had time to visit Linley.
"I'm not in the mood, but I have to train. Only when my strength is greater will I have more confidence." Linley said silently to himself.
According to his plan.
Within half a year, he had to kill Paterson and obtain information about the person behind Paterson.
After finding out who was behind Paterson, before next year's anniversary of his father's death, he had to find out information about his mother. Or kill the mastermind behind Paterson.
"Sssss~~"
"Ah!" Suddenly, screams rang out from outside the Spring Garden.
Linley leaped with one bound and landed on top of the rockery in the Spring Garden. Standing on the peak of the rockery, Linley could clearly see the dozen or so Radiant Church warriors guarding outside the Spring Garden. Their bodies were beginning to rot, and they were screaming incessantly, blood flowing all over the ground.
At the same time – from all directions, thick black mist was rapidly spreading towards the 'Spring Garden'. Wherever the black mist passed, whether human or beast, their bodies would corrode and die.
Linley looked up at the sky.
The sky above was also covered by dense black mist. The surrounding black mist was also rapidly spreading from all directions.
"Someone is here."
Linley even sensed several black figures quietly moving quickly towards him within the mist.
At this moment, Linley had nowhere to escape!
"Ha!"
Linley leaped down from the rockery at extreme speed, like a fish, and plunged directly into the hot spring pool.
