Chapter 601: Granny Si’s Little Shoes (Third Update!)

That demon god was locked in battle with the great wasteland deity guarding the altar. Though he kept his eyes and ears open on all sides, his enemy was simply too strong, forcing him to concentrate fully on the fight. When that garment flew over, he sensed no threatening aura and thus made no defense. By the time the robe draped itself over him and he realized what was happening, it was already too late.

Granny Si’s garment wrapped around him and rapidly shrank, constricting his chest, compressing his ribcage violently, each rib creaking and cracking under the pressure.

The robe seemed covered in needles, piercing into his flesh. An intense, stabbing pain shot through him, unbearable to endure.

The demon god couldn’t catch his breath and quickly shrank his body. As a demon god, controlling his size was naturally effortless. Just then, his opponent swept a sword at him, and coincidentally, his shrinking allowed him to dodge the strike.

But as he shrank, the garment shrank with him, still strangling him tightly.

“Break for me!”

He expanded his body, but the garment did not expand with him. The demon god immediately heard the sound of his own ribs snapping!

Not only did his ribs break, but his internal organs were nearly crushed simultaneously.

His chest was squeezed down to the thickness of a thumb, and the robe was filled with silver needles piercing his entire body, destroying his physical functions. In this state, expanding his body was truly asking for death.

The great wasteland deity facing him, the moment his body swelled, thrust a sword through his head, pinning his primordial spirit.

The demon god’s eyes bulged wide, blood gushing from his mouth. His voice hoarse, he said, “If I hadn’t been wearing a little garment, you wouldn’t have beaten me…” With that, he breathed his last and died.

The garment automatically detached from his corpse and flew back to Granny Si’s side. It then self-disassembled into strips of cloth, returning to her basket.

Qin Mu looked at the cloth strips in the basket and probed, “Grandma’s tailoring skills are getting more and more impressive. Where did these cloth strips come from? How can they bind a demon god’s physical body?”

“The cloth strips are woven from the sinews of gods and demons, along with a few dragon tendons I picked up in the Great Wasteland. Since there wasn’t much, I could only weave them into strips.”

Granny Si smiled. “The key is still the Great Cultivation Demon Scripture, which can stitch these rags together so that demon god couldn’t break free.”

Qin Mu blinked. “Besides clothes, what else can you make, Grandma?”

“I can also make two pairs of little shoes. I have some thousand-layer soles stitched from demon god hide here—more than enough for two pairs of cloth shoes.”

Granny Si pulled out two shoe soles, blinked, and laughed. “Wearing my little shoes guarantees you’ll wish for death but can’t have it, and you won’t be able to take them off. Does little Mu want to wear Grandma’s little shoes?”

“No way! You made me wear too many little shoes when I was a kid—my feet got all cramped up!”

As they were talking, the great wasteland deity guarding the altar called out from afar, “Fellow Daoists, please come up and join me!”

Qin Mu and Granny Si climbed onto the altar. The deity was elegant and handsome, like a jade tree in the wind. Seeing Granny Si’s appearance, he nearly lost his Dao heart but quickly steadied his spirit, bowed in thanks, and said, “So it’s Sect Leader Qin. And this is a fellow Daoist from the Grand Imperial Heaven? Thank you for your help!”

“Senior recognizes me?” Qin Mu asked, surprised.

The deity smiled. “The Celestial Master once spoke of the Sect Leader.”

Qin Mu quickly asked, “Where is the Celestial Master?”

“Over there!”

The deity pointed into the distance. “The sixth altar from here is where the Celestial Master is stationed. I need to stay here to guard this altar and cannot escort you two there. Forgive me!”

Qin Mu and Granny Si took their leave and headed in the direction he indicated. Along the way, they saw other altars also under attack—either demon armies surging like tides toward the altars, or demon gods fighting one-on-one for control.

Qin Mu and Granny Si helped where they could and detoured where they couldn’t.

One altar had already fallen into demon hands; the deity guarding it had likely been killed. Such things were unavoidable. This time, the Woodcutter Sage had grabbed the demons by their lifeline, threatening the Luofu Heaven, forcing them to fight desperately to regain some bargaining chips.

“The Luofu Heaven is so dangerous, yet demons still live here!”

Qin Mu and Granny Si saw the bones of many demon gods standing upright in some forbidden zones, surrounded by uneven stone tablets inscribed with demon script, presumably used to ward off the natural disasters here.

The demon people lived within the divine treasuries of these demon god corpses. It seemed that after the disasters struck, some demon gods offered their own bodies to allow their clans to survive.

“Grandma, why do natural disasters occur in this demon world? Where do they come from?” Qin Mu asked, puzzled, looking up at the shattered planet in the sky. The planet was enormous and moving, stirring up more disasters and triggering earth, water, wind, and fire.

Fragments of stars in the sky fell like fiery snakes, crashing somewhere unknown.

Granny Si shook her head. “How would I know? Maybe this is a true natural disaster, or perhaps gods and demons used great divine power to move these planets here to bring down calamities. As for the specifics, only someone like Furi Luo might know the reason.”

Finally, they reached the sixth altar.

Qin Mu and Granny Si looked from afar and saw the divine and demonic aura above the altar split into black and white, interweaving like two great fish swimming head-to-tail in a slow circle.

“Furi Luo is here!”

Qin Mu’s heart tightened. “I wonder if Lu Li has come as well? If Lu Li is also here, then the Woodcutter Sage is in danger!”

He looked up at the altar and could see many different divine treasuries, but aside from those of the Woodcutter Sage and Furi Luo, he didn’t see any treasuries of those who had entered the Heavenly Palace or the Demon God Palace.

Among those who had followed Furi Luo onto the altar, there was no Lu Li—only some disciples who hadn’t yet cultivated to demon god level, posing little threat.

Below the altar, however, were the divine treasuries of several gods and demons. It seemed Furi Luo was also worried that the Woodcutter Sage might go all out and truly blood-sacrifice the Luofu Heaven, so he had left the demon gods who came with him below the altar.

Qin Mu relaxed and walked toward the sixth altar with Granny Si.

When they reached the base of the altar, Qin Mu saw the Black Tiger God and was overjoyed. He waved at him.

The Black Tiger God ignored him, gripping his twin hammers, staring nervously at the two demon gods opposite him.

The Woodcutter Sage’s voice came down: “Qin Mu, gods are not allowed on the altar. Have the woman beside you stay below. You may come up.”

Qin Mu acknowledged.

Granny Si couldn’t help but say, “Holy Teacher, I am the former Saintess of the Heavenly Saint Sect. I admire the Holy Teacher and beg you to let me see you!”

The Woodcutter Sage poked his head out from the altar, looked down, and was momentarily stunned, a little dazzled. He said slowly, “What a woman—she nearly disturbed my Dao heart. The Heavenly Saint Sect has nothing to do with me, and you’ve already seen me once. Don’t come up, or my mind will be unsettled.”

Granny Si had no choice but to obey, staying beside the Black Tiger God. She whispered, “Mu, when you go up, don’t activate the Overlord Body Three-Dan Technique. If you absolutely must activate your technique, stick the golden willow leaf to your forehead.”

“Don’t worry, Grandma, I understand!”

Qin Mu strode up the steps, climbing until he finally reached the top of the altar. There, he saw Furi Luo and the Woodcutter Sage seated in high positions. Below Furi Luo were several young people, including Zhe Huali, and surprisingly, that young master from the Heavenly Court, Qi Jiuyi, was also there!

Qi Jiuyi had his own seat, clearly due to his status, which entitled him to sit.

Qin Mu stepped forward, bowed to the Woodcutter Sage, then greeted Furi Luo. Furi Luo sat motionless, nodding slightly in return.

Qin Mu also greeted Qi Jiuyi and Zhe Huali, who each returned the gesture without any hint of disdain, despite Qin Mu being their opponent.

Qin Mu took his place below the Woodcutter Sage. Furi Luo looked at him curiously. Qin Mu had a white silk scarf covering his eyes, but a vertical eye on his forehead was open, allowing him to see. Furi Luo laughed. “Young friend Qin, the eye on your forehead is quite peculiar.”

Qin Mu’s vertical eye’s pupil drooped downward, avoiding his gaze.

Furi Luo laughed heartily. “You dare not look at me—are you afraid of me? You’re still young, a newborn calf unafraid of tigers. If you develop a fear of me, I worry about your future cultivation progress and Dao heart! Come, lift your head and look at me.”

Qin Mu turned a deaf ear.

Qi Jiuyi and Zhe Huali were also studying Qin Mu, puzzled as to why he had covered his own eyes and curious about his third eye.

The Woodcutter Sage looked at Qin Mu, who had his head lowered, looking a bit dejected. He smiled. “Qin Mu, you came to find me—what for? And why have you covered your eyes? Ah, I see. You’ve locked eyes with Furi Luo again?”

Qin Mu nodded, ashamed. “Disciple, along with a few elders at home, set up a deceptive formation in the Grand Imperial Heaven, blocking Furi Luo’s millions of demon troops. As a result, Furi Luo got me again. I met his gaze, and he planted a divine technique in my eyes. If I look in a mirror, he’ll take me away. I don’t know how to break this technique, so I came to seek my teacher.”

The Woodcutter Sage laughed. “Furi Luo is your senior, just joking with you. He’s right here—if he wanted to take you away, why would he need such petty tricks? Take off the scarf and see how he takes you away.”

Qin Mu removed the scarf, revealing his eyes.

The Woodcutter Sage smiled. “Look in a mirror and see if he can take you away.”

Qin Mu took out a mirror and looked into it. Immediately, Furi Luo’s figure reappeared in the mirror, growing larger, stepping out toward him.

Qin Mu’s hands trembled; he couldn’t hold the mirror. The Furi Luo in the mirror was actually the Furi Luo in his eyes, like a nightmare about to swallow him whole!

Suddenly, the Woodcutter Sage swung his woodcutter’s axe and chopped it down onto the mirror in Qin Mu’s hands!

Across from him, Furi Luo grunted, and a bloody gash appeared on his forehead!

Qin Mu felt the pressure lift, and a wave of relief washed over him.

The Woodcutter Sage withdrew his axe and smiled. “I told you, Furi Luo was just joking with you. He’s your senior—how could he harm you? Wouldn’t he worry that I might get angry and chop down his disciples?”

Furi Luo’s forehead bled, the blood streaming down from between his three faces, splitting around his nose. All three faces showed anger.

“Old friend, you should know that if you keep holding the Luofu Heaven, you might not die, but your twenty-four fellow Daoists will not escape death!”

He turned one of his faces and said solemnly, “It’s not that we demons want to destroy you. The ones who truly want to destroy you are someone else. With your wisdom, you should understand the stakes. Why make them sacrifice their lives?”
