Chapter 377: A God Falls
Qin Mu, Wang Muran, Mu Qingdai, and Long Yu were all severely injured, unable to move. Long Yu’s legs were broken, Mu Qingdai was gravely wounded and unconscious, Wang Muran’s bones were nearly shattered, and Qin Mu’s worst injury was the punch he took while in his shadow form, which nearly shattered him even in that state.
The four lay there. Long Yu’s neck was twisted, his tongue hanging out—he had wrenched his own neck, and that turn to strike back had nearly snapped it.
He watched helplessly as Long Qilin approached, watched helplessly as the creature extended its long tongue and slathered it over him. Long Qilin’s tongue flipped him over, then licked him again, turning his face back to the front, but his tongue still hadn’t retracted.
Long Qilin licked him again, leaving Long Yu drenched all over.
An itch spread across his entire body—the pain and sensation of broken bones reconnecting, torn sinews reknitting, and flesh regenerating. He quickly circulated his primal energy, using it to adjust his bones, lest they set crooked.
If the bones set wrong, even if the injuries healed, his whole body would be twisted and bent—that would be disastrous.
Wang Muran lay nearby, watching as Long Yu was coated in saliva. Long Qilin’s massive tongue flipped the senior brother over several times like a spatula, as if afraid he’d burn, and Wang Muran couldn’t help but snicker.
The young man laughed until his wounds split open, blood seeping out, tears streaming from the pain.
Long Qilin walked over and extended its long tongue. Wang Muran’s laughter died instantly as the tongue covered his face like a sticky, enormous fur blanket, rolling him over.
After handling Wang Muran, Long Qilin licked the unconscious Mu Qingdai, leaving her soaking wet. The licking woke her, but to avoid embarrassment, she pretended to remain unconscious.
Long Qilin turned to Qin Mu. Qin Mu said weakly, “Don’t lick me. Senior Brother Long Yu, how are your injuries? There’s a jade bottle of dragon saliva in my glutton pouch—take it out and smear it on me, that’ll be fine…”
“Lick him! Fatty… Big Dragon, you must lick him!” Long Yu shouted immediately.
Wang Muran nodded vigorously and called out, “We all got licked—how can we let him off? Big Dragon, lick him!”
Mu Qingdai also quickly opened her eyes, no longer pretending to sleep, and laughed, “Share joy and share hardship! Big Dragon, lick him!”
Qin Mu’s face changed drastically. He struggled to crawl away, but Long Qilin lifted a paw and pinned his pant leg. Qin Mu couldn’t move and roared in anger, “Fat Dragon, I’m covered in poison! If you lick me, you’ll die of poison in moments—seven orifices bleeding out!”
Long Qilin hesitated. The other three laughed. “Who would smear poison on themselves? Fat Dragon, just lick him—if he dies, we’ll bury him!”
Reassured, Long Qilin licked Qin Mu thoroughly, flipping him over. After all, Qin Mu was his meal ticket, so he was even more meticulous with him than with the others.
Qin Mu’s face was ashen. He was flipped and scraped repeatedly, lying motionless, not struggling, as if resigned to his fate.
Long Qilin retracted its tongue, noticed Qin Mu’s hair was mussed from the licking, and carefully smoothed it back into place, shiny and sleek.
“Enough, Fat Dragon…”
The Great Cult Leader said woodenly, “Enough, stop licking… That’s enough, it’s already smooth… No more licking!”
Seeing Qin Mu angry, Long Qilin reluctantly withdrew its tongue, sat back on its hind legs, and crouched beside him.
A strand of hair disobediently fell over Qin Mu’s left eye. Long Qilin hesitated, glanced at Qin Mu’s expression—his face was as dark as charcoal—but couldn’t resist. It quickly extended its tongue and licked the strand back into place.
Qin Mu was furious.
…
The Great Deer lay on the ground, all four leg bones shattered. Earlier, when Qin Mu and the others had shrunk into tiny figures and fought on its body, they had put it through hell. Fortunately, it wasn’t life-threatening, but the injuries were severe.
The Great Deer saw Long Qilin healing Qin Mu and immediately curled its lips, calling out, “Yoo-yoo—Fatty, lick me, lick me!”
“Ptoo!”
Long Qilin spat a glob of dragon saliva in front of the Great Deer and said arrogantly, “Rub it yourself!”
The Great Deer was furious, but healing was urgent. It had to painfully drag itself over and rub its wounds in the saliva, twitching from the pain.
Long Qilin watched the deer squirming in its spit, feeling immense satisfaction. “This damned deer always undermines me in front of my meal ticket and shows me no respect. Now I’ll make him lose face in front of his meal ticket!”
Fat Dragon felt that this was the most satisfying moment of his life—not even clinging to the Young Ancestor’s leg for food compared to this.
Qin Mu and the others gradually regained some strength. They sat up, circulated their primal energy, and expelled stagnant blood to avoid lingering injuries.
The three from Little Jade Capital also knew medicine and were skilled, but compared to Qin Mu, they were amateurish. They were careless in many areas.
Qin Mu expelled his own stagnant blood, then used his primal energy to push shattered bone fragments out of his body one by one. With a low shout, his spirit flew out, scanning his limbs and internal organs to check the detailed condition of his body and the injuries to his divine repositories.
He examined everything meticulously, then reabsorbed his spirit, took a few Spirit Buddha Pills to quickly replenish his energy and boost his primal power, and then prescribed medicine, refining pills to treat the hidden ailments.
“Spirit!” Mu Qingdai exclaimed, her face filled with shock.
Wang Muran and Long Yu were also stunned. A spirit was something that shouldn’t be possible at Qin Mu’s cultivation level, yet he had manifested it!
Though Qin Mu’s spirit was still weak, like a faint shadow, it was undeniably a spirit!
Qin Mu had cultivated a spirit at the Six Harmonies realm, giving him a head start in cultivation. His training speed would far outpace others, and the spirit was one of the most important combat tools after the Celestial Being realm. Starting to engage with it now was crucial for future strength!
When Qin Mu had used his spirit to open its eyes and inspect himself earlier, it baffled them—they couldn’t understand how he had achieved it.
“The Human Sovereign is truly formidable. I’m completely convinced.”
Long Yu sighed. “To cultivate a spirit at the Six Harmonies realm and even make it leave the body—the Human Sovereign’s talent and comprehension are unmatched in this era!”
Qin Mu shook his head. He walked over to Mu Qingdai to check her condition and said, “It’s not that my talent and comprehension are unmatched. Cultivating a spirit at the Six Harmonies realm isn’t that remarkable—Sister Yuxiu also did it. Cultivating a spirit isn’t difficult. Yuxiu and I stumbled into it, and then our spirits left our bodies.”
Long Yu was speechless and shook his head.
Wang Muran felt a chill. “The Sixth Princess of the Yan Kingdom has also cultivated a spirit? The Yan Kingdom is indeed not to be underestimated, with many young experts. Staying cooped up in Little Jade Capital, resting on our laurels, might indeed leave us behind the times!”
A worry grew in his heart. Little Jade Capital possessed many divine arts, each capable of founding a sect, but the Yan Kingdom’s reforms and transformations were blazing ahead. As the laws changed, the Dao changed, and divine abilities would evolve. If Little Jade Capital couldn’t keep up, it would surely be eliminated.
Just like Qin Mu and Princess Ling Yuxiu’s dual cultivation, which produced a spirit at the Six Harmonies realm—this was a sign of the transformation.
Qin Mu and Ling Yuxiu hadn’t yet realized how much their breakthrough would impact and shock cultivators. If they could find the pattern for cultivating a spirit and popularize it, they would be hailed as Grand Masters, achieving a status in cultivation history that could rival or even surpass the Yan Kingdom’s National Teacher!
The National Teacher’s creation of the three basic sword techniques was also a sign of transformation, cementing his achievement as a Grand Master.
But cultivating a spirit at the Six Harmonies realm was even more important than those three techniques, benefiting all cultivators. The strength at every realm—Six Harmonies, Seven Stars, Celestial Being, Life and Death, Divine Bridge—would greatly increase!
Wang Muran shared his thoughts with Qin Mu. Qin Mu was taken aback and said, “I hadn’t considered that… But you make a good point. When I return to the capital, I’ll talk to Sister Yuxiu and see if we can find the pattern.”
He used his Azure Sky Divine Eye to examine Mu Qingdai’s body inside and out, identifying various hidden ailments, then refined pills for her to take.
Mu Qingdai felt a bit shy under his gaze, thinking, “He’s a divine physician, he’s a divine physician…”
Then she heard the Divine Physician muttering, “Women’s bodies seem different from men’s—they don’t have that thing. How do they pee…”
Mu Qingdai’s face flushed red, and she glared at him.
Qin Mu hurriedly went to check Long Yu’s injuries. After a long while, he finished treating Long Yu and Wang Muran.
Long Qilin shuffled over and said hesitantly, “Cult Leader, what about the swords on me…”
A dozen flying swords were still stuck in his body.
Qin Mu glanced at him and sneered, “Is my hair still messy?”
“Every strand is perfect! Wait, this one is out of place…”
Just as Long Qilin extended its long tongue, Qin Mu raised his hand in a sword gesture. With a series of *puchi* sounds, the dozen flying swords shot out of Long Qilin’s body, sending blood spraying.
Long Qilin screamed.
“Go ahead and lick!” Qin Mu said viciously.
Despite his words, he quickly took out bottles of dragon saliva, poured them into the wounds, and used his primal energy to expel the stagnant blood and seal the injuries.
Long Qilin tried to ingratiate itself. “Cult Leader, I did a great deed this time. So, about the meals…”
Qin Mu ignored him and went to the Great Deer. This deer was in worse shape than Long Qilin, with twice as many flying swords stuck in it, still rubbing itself in Long Qilin’s spit.
Qin Mu shook his head, first setting the deer’s bones, then taking a dozen bottles of dragon saliva to stop the bleeding before pulling out the swords one by one.
Wang Muran, much recovered, ran over, picked up the deer antlers, and stuck them back on the deer’s head.
“Little Master, the antlers are on backward,” the deer reminded.
“Oh!”
Wang Muran quickly pulled the antlers out, bringing a spray of blood. The deer cried out in pain. Wang Muran turned the antlers around and stuck them back in, then asked Qin Mu for a bottle of dragon saliva to sprinkle on the wounds.
Qin Mu also treated the other flood dragons. After working for half a day, the sky outside suddenly turned a blinding white, then pitch black, then bright again.
Everyone looked outside. The torrential rain had abruptly stopped, and a straight crack appeared in the sky, like a giant sword slicing it open!
“This is…”
Qin Mu’s heart shook. He murmured, “Sun-Sniping Divine Cannon…”
Red lines suddenly fell from the cracked sky. Qin Mu reached out to catch them, then his face changed drastically, and he quickly dodged aside.
The red lines drizzled down in front of the palace, and where they landed, flowers bloomed across the mountains, and plants shot up.
Heavenly divine blood fell, like the heavens weeping.
A god had fallen.
