Chapter 1310: All Living Beings Are Sacrifices (Second Update)
The four Heavenly Venerables stood united, their formidable might rendering the vast void before them almost nonexistent. Ordinary gods and demons who entered the first layer of the void would be assimilated by it, and even powerful Creators could not penetrate the multiple layers of the void.
Only Creator elders who had reached a certain level of cultivation could, after death, entrust their divine consciousness to the depths of the multiple void, becoming Ancestral Spirits.
As for gods and demons of other races, only by entering the Dao through divine consciousness and comprehending the existence of void patterns could they delve deep into the multiple void.
Figures like Qin Mu, who could directly reach the thirtieth layer of the void, were exceedingly rare. Even in the era when Creators ruled the universe, such beings were few.
Qin Mu relied on his comprehension of the Primordial Unity Qi and the Dao of Divine Consciousness, having already begun to touch upon the Dao of Primordial Beginning, so entering the void was not difficult for him.
But the four Heavenly Venerables relied on their immensely powerful physical bodies. Their bodies were so strong that the void not only failed to assimilate them but was instead crushed and shattered by the pressure of their flesh!
This was the terror of beings at the Heavenly Venerable level!
However, the Grand Emperor knew that even Heavenly Venerables had their limits!
This limit had long been discovered by Cloud Heavenly Venerable, Ling Heavenly Venerable, and Moon Heavenly Venerable.
The Void Bridge within the Grand Void was a bridge built within the thirty-fifth layer of the void. It was constructed jointly by the three Heavenly Venerables and the Grand Void Creators, and Moon Heavenly Venerable had even built three rooms at the bridge’s end.
That bridge was laid out in an extremely perilous manner. To cross it, one had to endure the grinding and crushing force of the thirty-fifth layer of the void. Even a Heavenly Venerable could be ground away if careless. Fire Heavenly Venerable, Void Heavenly Venerable, and the Founding Emperor had all been trapped there, nearly obliterated by the void.
The thirty-fifth layer of the void was the limit for Heavenly Venerables. The Grand Emperor only needed to lead the Void Mother Beast into the thirty-fifth layer of the void to make the four Heavenly Venerables back off!
From deep within the void came faint sounds like thunder, accompanied by flashes of lightning in the depths of space. Standing in the Ancestral Court, one could even see, during the lightning flashes, enormous shadows illuminated in the depths of space.
Those bodies were colossal. When they moved, they caused cracks in the surrounding space, spreading out like spider webs in all directions!
Their movement speed was also incredibly fast. When a shadow was illuminated, then dimmed, and then illuminated again, they had already moved an unknown distance.
On this day, blood suddenly began to flow from the sky.
Gushing divine blood cascaded down from the depths of the sky like a great waterfall, forming a blood waterfall suspended in midair.
Qin Mu had not gone far. When he saw this blood waterfall, he also noticed something falling from the sky, crashing into the earth like a planet striking the ground, stirring up fierce winds and meteorites.
Where that object fell, the earth shook and mountains trembled, volcanoes erupted. Even though the Ancestral Court was far more stable than the outside world, it could barely withstand such an impact.
When Qin Mu arrived there, many more bursts of firelight erupted in the sky. Huge fireballs, dragging long tails of flame, fell from the void.
Qin Mu looked into the first large crater. Inside was a giant fist.
It was the Grand Emperor’s fist, severed by some Heavenly Venerable, causing mountains to collapse and the earth to split.
“The Grand Emperor’s physical body is, after all, one of the most powerful from the ancient era. The only one who could match him was the Heavenly Emperor Primordial Beginning. This fist might be worth collecting to refine into a treasure…”
Just as he thought this, countless roots suddenly flew out from the magma-like earth, dragging the Grand Emperor’s fist away!
“Earth Mother!”
Qin Mu immediately flew forward, about to snatch the Grand Emperor’s hand, when suddenly the sky blazed bright, turning pure white. Another thigh fell from the sky, even more astonishing than the fist that had landed earlier. The fierce winds and giant waves it kicked up slammed him flying!
“The Grand Emperor’s thigh!”
Qin Mu halted his momentum. More objects were falling from the sky, crashing down with booming sounds, pulverizing the earth for ten thousand miles around. The surface floated on magma like a pot of braised pork, bubbles lifting chunks of meat, gurgling, as the ground trembled continuously.
“The Grand Emperor is truly miserable, being dismembered by four Heavenly Venerables…”
He couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity. The most powerful being of the ancient era, facing the four Heavenly Venerables, had ended up like this.
Then he cheered up again, flying through the sea of fire, searching for pieces of the Grand Emperor’s body.
Suddenly, a massive body fell from the sky, crashing into the fiery magma, tumbling and rolling.
Qin Mu flew over. It was the Void Mother Beast!
The Mother Beast’s head was missing, presumably severed by some Heavenly Venerable, its corpse tumbling down from the void.
“The Mother Beast is dead? Doesn’t that mean the void beasts will go extinct?”
He was stunned. The Void Mother Beast had devoured all the void beasts in the Ancestral Court to reach its current size. Its death at the hands of the four Heavenly Venerables meant that the Mother Beast in the Ancestral Court was already extinct!
“Luan Wo still has a void beast. I wonder if that one is still alive? If that one dies too, then the void beasts will truly be extinct!”
He rushed toward the Void Mother Beast’s corpse. Suddenly, a void beast egg rolled out from inside the Mother Beast’s body, landing in the magma.
Qin Mu’s heart stirred. His divine power surged, rolling up the void beast egg and storing it in his brow.
The Mother Beast had produced its final egg. Its corpse sank into the magma and disappeared.
Qin Mu was about to retrieve the Mother Beast’s corpse when he suddenly stopped, his expression turning grave. The Mother Beast’s corpse was visibly shriveling, its blood draining at an alarming rate!
“The beings from the previous era—their sacrificial power has already extended this far?”
A chill ran down his spine. The massive Mother Beast’s corpse, in just a short time, turned into a giant skeleton in the magma. Soon after, even the energy within the bones was exhausted, and they collapsed and crumbled!
His heart sank. He immediately flew up and headed toward where the other pieces of the Grand Emperor’s body had fallen.
He arrived at the place where the Grand Emperor’s arm had fallen. Only a pile of shattered bones remained!
“The Grand Emperor’s bones are also gone, all flesh and blood vanished!”
Qin Mu’s expression was grim as he looked up at the blood waterfall in the sky. That was where the Grand Emperor’s divine blood fell.
He activated a teleportation technique. In the next moment, he crossed ten thousand miles and appeared at the spot where the blood waterfall landed.
His robes fluttered, his cape billowing behind him as he slowly descended. The ground where the blood waterfall landed did not form a lake or sea of blood. Instead, it was extremely clean, with not a trace of blood!
“It seems the Ancestral Court is indeed unsuitable as a battlefield…”
Qin Mu looked around, murmuring to himself: “The entire Ancestral Court is an altar for the beings of the previous era. Any life that dies here becomes a sacrifice for them to come to this world, this era. Can the Great Black Mountain still hold?”
He thought carefully for a moment. The entire Ancestral Court, probably only the five major mineral veins were not altars of prehistoric beings. Only those five veins could remain independent. Everywhere else had likely been invaded by the power of the previous era.
“Come to think of it, since I arrived in the Ancestral Court, aside from the five major mineral veins, I haven’t found any bones anywhere else! Whether giant beast bones or Creator bones, they’ve all disappeared!”
He exhaled a breath of turbid air. He had originally thought the Creator bones were devoured by void beasts, but now he realized that might not be the case.
Whether human or beast, anyone who entered the Ancestral Court became a sacrifice for the beings of the previous era!
The Ancestral Court was like a giant altar!
Or rather, the Ancestral Court was a giant platter, and everyone who entered was a dish on it, waiting to be enjoyed by the prehistoric beings!
