Chapter 59: The Team
Hearing this simple and crude plan, the Three Brothers of National Football were somewhat speechless.
“This... although we’re not good at scheming against others, isn’t this plan a bit too hasty? Weenie, we’re not saying you’re not smart, we really don’t mean that.”
The third brother of National Football realized he had misspoken and cast his gaze toward Weenie. This plan was proposed by Weenie.
“Do you have any objections to my plan?”
Weenie stopped chewing, her eyes clearly conveying that if there were objections, she’d blast them with her sniper rifle.
“Of course...”
“I have objections.”
The first half was said by the third brother of National Football, the second half by Su Xiao.
“Big sis, I have no objections. He said it.”
The third brother of National Football secretly pointed at Su Xiao and took two steps back. Weenie ignored the third brother and looked at Su Xiao instead.
“Rushing in blindly is obviously not feasible. Charging in is necessary, but first, we need to confirm the enemy’s distribution. Among the enemy, there are two who are very difficult to deal with: Jester and the Traveling Group’s Captain. Next, the Traveling Group has other combatants—Finks, Franklin, Bonolenov, Machi, and others are all troublesome. Excluding these, there are also the Nirappan Clan, those humanoid creatures that besieged us. The Nirappan are numerous, and among them, there are bound to be stronger individuals.”
Su Xiao lit a cigarette, and the others present remained silent.
“Once we show signs of breaking out, the Nirappan Clan will likely swarm us. During the breakout, if we encounter Jester, we’ll join forces to kill him. If we encounter the Traveling Group’s Captain, you all continue the breakout, and I’ll hold him off. Our goal isn’t to wipe out the Nirappan Clan or the Traveling Group, but to kill Jester. The appearance of the Nirappan Clan must be related to Jester—there’s no doubt about that.”
Su Xiao exhaled a plume of blue smoke, having already mapped out various possible scenarios in his mind.
“I roughly understand. More bad than good, huh?”
Upon learning of the enemy’s numerous combatants, the eldest brother of National Football’s expression turned grim.
“You can choose not to participate. But holding out in the auction house is also a dead end. However, if you join the breakout plan, once you get out, you don’t have to consider killing Jester—just escape directly.”
Su Xiao’s words made the National Football brothers and Weenie’s eyes light up, but then they all shook their heads.
“A -3 to all attributes is no joke. Strength attributes and such are manageable, but luck attributes... even -1 point has severe consequences.”
If strength or stamina attributes turned negative, the contractor would be close to death, with all bodily functions rapidly deteriorating. As for negative luck attributes, while it wouldn’t kill immediately, it would make survival in the dangerous Reincarnation Paradise impossible. So, a -3 to all attributes was far from simple—it could easily lead to death, especially since this was the penalty for failing a main mission.
“I don’t want negative luck, so Jester must die.”
Weenie’s tone was resolute.
“Right, negative luck is a slow death. Jester must die.”
The eldest brother of National Football also spoke up. The five of them reached a consensus: kill Jester.
“If you need more people, I can join you.”
Fangirl emerged from behind a nearby pillar; she had been close by all along.
“Alright.”
Su Xiao wasn’t worried about a traitor joining the team now. Aside from the violators, the contractors were united against a common enemy.
“When do we set out?”
“Now.”
Su Xiao walked toward the main entrance of the auction house. In truth, gathering all the contractors inside the auction house would be a good choice, but the current situation didn’t allow it.
The auction house needed defenders. If all contractors left, neither the National Football brothers nor Weenie would agree. Gathering the most capable contractors for a surprise attack was the best option now—too many people would hinder movement.
The team consisted of six people: Su Xiao (Violent Blade Man), the Three Brothers of National Football (Joke Main Tanks), Weenie (Turret), and Fangirl (Assassin).
As Su Xiao and the others walked out of the auction house, the contractors in the lobby noticed but said nothing.
“Hey, stop right there.”
A gang leader shouted. The auction house wasn’t just filled with contractors; the gang leaders who had attended the auction were also there. These people had fled upstairs to take shelter when the Nirappan Clan attacked and only reappeared after confirming it was safe.
The gang leaders gathered together, their expressions panicked.
Su Xiao paused and turned his head to look at the gang members.
“You can’t leave the auction house. What if those monsters come back? Even if you’re a direct subordinate of the Ten Elders, you need to consider the bigger picture.”
These people claimed to be thinking of the bigger picture, but in reality, they wanted Su Xiao and the others to stay and protect them.
“Are these people useful?”
Fangirl’s eyes narrowed, and her rosy tongue lightly licked her lips.
“We can kill them all. Hurry up, the breakout is urgent.”
“OK, twenty seconds at most.”
Fangirl vanished from her spot and reappeared among the gang leaders.
A sharp serpentine dagger slit the throat of a gang leader, blood spraying several meters.
Su Xiao walked out of the auction house as screams and curses erupted behind him.
“That’s ruthless.”
The eldest brother of National Football grinned. Though he had killed many monsters, he rarely killed humans.
“Just a bunch of scum. That woman is from the Hunter Alliance. Watch out—she might kill you for your blood card afterward.”
As Weenie finished speaking, Fangirl, holding a bloodstained dagger, rejoined the team.
“Badmouthing people behind their backs isn’t nice, little sister from the Madman + Freak Traveling Group.”
“I knew you’d hear it, that’s why I said it.”
“Don’t worry, the threat of negative luck is still looming. How could we have internal strife now? But compared to me, this one is more dangerous, hehe.”
Fangirl tilted her fair chin, referring to Su Xiao.
“Who knows? You’re both dangerous. Someone with a frail build like me can only tremble in fear.”
Weenie shouldered her heavy sniper rifle as she walked with the team.
“Everyone, we’re a team now. Should we give it a name? This kind of cooperation might only happen once, and the chances of it recurring are slim.”
The eldest brother of National Football seemed excited. The three brothers were mixed in with a group of ruthless individuals with distinct personalities.
“Artillery Assault Squad.”
That was Weenie’s suggested name.
“Super Kill Squad.”
Fangirl flicked the blood off her dagger—this was her idea for the team name.
“Avengers Alliance!”
Needless to say, this was the opinion of the three National Football brothers, completely out of sync with the others.
“They’re coming.”
“Huh?”
The third brother of National Football looked at Su Xiao in confusion.
“Brother Ruthless, isn’t ‘They’re Coming’ too plain as a team name?”
Su Xiao’s eye twitched. He was referring to the Nirappan Clan approaching.
“Idiot, the Nirappan Clan is charging at us. Look over there.”
Weenie set up her large sniper rifle and fired several shots into the pitch-black street ahead. These were incendiary rounds, illuminating the street with flames, revealing a dense mass of Nirappan rushing toward them.
Before Weenie fired, Su Xiao had already charged into that street with his blade.
A sea of Nirappan surged from the street, filling the entire road. Su Xiao plunged into the Nirappan horde, his long sword slashing repeatedly. Limbs and blood flew, and the Nirappan let out furious roars.
Fangirl vanished into the night, her figure flickering among the Nirappan, with one falling to the ground clutching its throat every so often.
Weenie set up her sniper rifle at the rear of the team, shell casings flying, the roar of gunfire echoing through the entire street. She made the sniper rifle feel like a heavy machine gun.
The three National Football brothers rushed behind Su Xiao to prevent him from being surrounded by the Nirappan.
Bubu Wang blended in among the Nirappan, activating his divine skill ‘You Can’t See Me,’ instantly infiltrating the enemy ranks. He was tasked with locating Jester, the Traveling Group’s Captain, and others, then reporting to Su Xiao.
But the Nirappan were too dense. Bubu Wang got stepped on several times, his pitiful expression saying it all. If he could speak, he would have shouted, ‘I’m your kind, damn it! Stop stepping on my tail—it’s almost bald!’
The street was filled with the Nirappan’s howls, the sound of blades cutting flesh, and the thud of heavy hammers.
The Nirappan surged like a black tide, with Su Xiao leading the charge into the ‘tide,’ carving a bloody path through the massive horde.
As for Weenie, who was covering the rear, there was no need to worry about her safety. This girl wasn’t just a turret; she was also an expert with bombs. Any Nirappan trying to get close to her was blown to pieces.
The team advanced rapidly toward Jester and the others’ location.
