Chapter 78: The Revengeful Three-Headed Dog
Inside the forest outside Konoha Village.
Distant explosions rang out incessantly. Su Xiao stood within the forest, a smile spreading across his face.
Nagato had begun his assault on Konoha, meaning his mission was already 70% complete. The difficulty of the main quest wasn’t in destroying Konoha, but in making Nagato destroy it ahead of schedule.
According to the original plot development, Nagato would only execute his plan to destroy Konoha a month later. By then, Su Xiao’s mission period would have expired.
At this point in time, the protagonist Naruto had yet to go to Mount Myoboku to learn Sage Mode. If Danzo didn’t intervene, Nagato might be able to punch through Konoha.
On the surface, Konoha was the strongest ninja village, but that wasn’t the case. After the Fourth Hokage’s death, Konoha had begun its decline. The Third Hokage’s return was a clear signal—there was no successor for the Hokage position.
Currently, Konoha’s high-end combat power consisted only of Tsunade and Danzo. Although Gai’s strength was explosive, he wasn’t in Konoha at the moment. Three days ago, Gai had left the village on a mission. Su Xiao had confirmed this, which was why he chose this time to attack Konoha. That kick from before was still fresh in his memory.
Su Xiao stood up, brushing the grass clippings off his clothes.
“Bubu, hide here.”
“Woof.”
Bubu Wang was a bit puzzled. If Su Xiao entered Konoha, at this distance, the Snow Goddess’s Halo and healing abilities couldn’t be used.
“The battle will end quickly. As long as Konoha is destroyed, that’s enough. Victory or defeat isn’t the key.”
That was right. As long as Nagato flattened Konoha, Su Xiao’s mission would be declared complete. At that point, he could leave the Naruto World at any time.
Su Xiao drew his blade and walked toward Konoha, passing directly through the barrier. Konoha was in chaos; no one would come looking for trouble with him.
The six Pains were destroying and investigating within Konoha Village. Su Xiao didn’t plan to help. He intended to loot the village—this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“Where should I go? Konoha must have a treasury or something like that.”
Su Xiao strolled slowly into Konoha Village. A bomb launched by the Asura Path flew near him. The bomb exploded with a roar, the blast wind rustling his clothes, firelight reflecting on his cheeks.
A child ran panicked across the street. Because he was only looking behind him, the little boy bumped straight into Su Xiao.
“Little one, where’s the Hokage’s office building?”
Su Xiao crouched down, trying to show a gentle smile. But he didn’t realize how terrifying his aura was, and besides, his Charm attribute was “astonishing.”
The stopped child was scared stiff, especially seeing the bloodstained long blade.
The child’s pants gradually grew wet, and finally, he burst out crying.
“Little one, no crying.”
Su Xiao patted the child’s head. Surprisingly, under his “comfort,” the child immediately stopped crying.
It wasn’t that the child stopped crying—he was completely terrified.
“It’s… it’s over there.”
The child tremblingly pointed in a direction. Su Xiao headed toward the Hokage’s office building. If there was a place to hide things, nowhere was safer than the Hokage’s office.
Just as Su Xiao was on his way to the Hokage’s office, a figure flew rapidly toward him.
He stopped in his tracks, looking at the white-haired, masked ninja.
“I didn’t kill you last time, and now you appear before me again.”
As Su Xiao finished speaking, a wave of force came, accompanied by the faint sound of the Deva Path’s voice.
“Shinra Tensei!”
Boom!
The shockwave spread. An energy shield formed beside Su Xiao, and a second later, he was sent flying into the air.
Adjusting his center of gravity midair, Su Xiao landed. He had been caught up in the Deva Path’s battle.
“Hm?”
The Deva Path looked at Su Xiao. Su Xiao pointed at the three enemies on the field. The Deva Path nodded and walked away.
The two didn’t exchange words. Su Xiao’s meaning was that he would handle these people, while the Deva Path went to find the Nine-Tails.
“Bai Ye.”
A slightly cold voice came. Su Xiao turned his head to look at the enemies on the field. There were three, all of whom he had fought before: Kakashi, Choji Akimichi, and Choza Akimichi.
Kakashi had one eye closed—that Sharingan had been gouged out by Su Xiao. His physical injuries had been healed by Tsunade.
“Choza, you and your son go first.”
Kakashi had fought Su Xiao before and knew how strong his close-combat abilities were. The Akimichi father and son were both melee fighters, unsuitable for fighting Su Xiao.
“But, Kakashi…”
Choza’s face showed difficulty. He knew this was the best choice at the moment.
“Choza, the village is under attack. Reporting the attacker’s information to the Hokage is the most important thing.”
“Understood.”
The Akimichi father and son slowly retreated. Although leaving Kakashi alone to face the enemy was dangerous, it couldn’t be helped. Besides, reinforcements had arrived.
A female ninja walked out from a pile of rubble. She had short hair, two red marks painted on her face, and a one-eyed ninja dog following behind her.
This female ninja said nothing, only silently staring at Su Xiao. She was Kiba Inuzuka’s mother, Tsume Inuzuka.
“Tsume, don’t be impulsive.”
Kakashi moved beside Tsume Inuzuka. He could feel she was like a volcano ready to erupt at any moment.
“I’m very calm.”
Tsume Inuzuka’s voice was slightly hoarse, her teeth grinding audibly as she spoke.
The Akimichi father and son quickly left. Su Xiao didn’t stop them; the Animal Path was already intercepting ahead.
“No one’s opening the Seventh Gate to save you this time.”
Su Xiao rolled his shoulders, first glancing at Kakashi, then turning to Tsume Inuzuka.
He knew Tsume Inuzuka was Kiba Inuzuka’s mother. Her appearance here was nothing more than revenge.
“My son died at your hands. That means his training wasn’t enough.”
Tsume Inuzuka spoke, and her words were surprising.
“But even if his training wasn’t enough, he was still my son, my own flesh and blood. If I don’t avenge him, I don’t deserve the Inuzuka name.”
Tsume Inuzuka formed hand seals, and the chakra in her ninja dog beside her also became active.
“Inuzuka Style: Human-Beast Mixed Transformation: Three-Headed Dog.”
Bang, white smoke rose.
When the smoke dissipated, Tsume Inuzuka had disappeared. The ninja dog’s body grew larger, and two additional heads sprouted from the sides of its neck.
This black ninja dog resembled a Cerberus from hell. Tsume Inuzuka was now controlling it. To be precise, the three-headed dog was formed from Tsume Inuzuka + the ninja dog.
“Kakashi, I’ll hold him off. You find an opportunity.”
The three-headed dog spoke in human language. To disguise which head was Tsume Inuzuka’s, all three heads made the speaking mouth shape simultaneously.
“Wait!”
Kakashi was alarmed. If Tsume Inuzuka charged in like this, her three heads would be severed in an instant.
“It’s fine. Even if his close combat is strong, he won’t be able to kill me instantly. The Inuzuka clan are also experts in close combat.”
Tsume Inuzuka was getting impatient.
“The enemy’s swordsmanship…”
Clang!
A blade aura slashed toward Kakashi. Su Xiao wouldn’t let Kakashi reveal his information to Tsume Inuzuka.
After slashing out one blade aura, Su Xiao sent out three more, suppressing both Kakashi and Tsume Inuzuka, allowing him to close the distance.
“Lightning Shield: Lightning Chain.”
A lightning chain formed in Kakashi’s hand. He swung it forward, and the blade auras were actually shattered by the lightning chain. Su Xiao had experienced this thing before, so he wasn’t surprised.
The lightning chain whipped toward Su Xiao. As he charged forward, Su Xiao immediately leaped. The moment he jumped, the three-headed dog also leaped, all three gaping maws lunging at him.
Midair, Su Xiao tightened his grip on the Dragon-Slaying Flash’s hilt, his aura suddenly becoming sharp.
“Ring Break.”
Clang.
A circular blade aura spread outward. All three heads of the three-headed dog were severed.
With a bang, the three-headed dog turned into smoke and disappeared. This had been a Shadow Clone.
