Chapter 82: Everyone, You Are Surrounded
The villa district was exceptionally quiet late at night. The security here was tight, of course, relatively speaking—for contractors, those surveillance devices were practically nonexistent.
Su Xiao put on a single earpiece and pressed the switch. Soft conversation came through the earpiece.
"I am Su Xiao."
Su Xiao spoke, and the earpiece went silent.
"Mr. Su Xiao, are you ready?"
Several kilometers away, Wei Dong sat inside a surveillance vehicle. At this moment, the area around the villa district was filled with Scavenger contractors.
"Evacuate the civilians first. Shut down the nearby surveillance equipment."
Su Xiao needed to ensure there were no "spectators" nearby when he made his move, and the surveillance equipment absolutely had to be turned off.
"Half an hour."
The Scavenger contractors got to work. As a law enforcement agency, evacuating a villa district on the city's outskirts wasn't too difficult, even if the residents were all wealthy and powerful.
Since it was one in the morning, the evacuation didn't cause much commotion, and the surveillance equipment was shut down one after another.
"Find them."
Su Xiao looked at Bubu Wang, who quickly ran into the villa district.
...
Inside the villa district, after the Scavenger personnel evacuated the ordinary civilians, they immediately withdrew. A battle was about to break out here.
Inside a three-story villa, three men of different skin tones and varying attire sat in a circle.
"Have we found the target yet? The Scavengers are reaching their limit of patience."
"Still searching. Estimated to find it within two days."
"Hmm?"
In the darkness, a pair of bloodshot eyes narrowed.
"Useless."
Bach, a white man, stood up, looking like a strong polar bear. He coldly stared at a bearded Indian man with slightly dark skin. Noticing Bach's gaze, the Indian lowered his head, though a hint of defiance showed in his eyes.
"A waste who can't control his desires."
Bach raised his hand and slapped the Indian across the face. The Indian was stunned.
"You..."
"If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have clashed with the Scavengers, and we wouldn't be running around like dogs. Shit!"
Bach took a deep breath, barely restraining the urge to kill the Indian.
"Gentlemen, no need to get so worked up. We're safe for now."
A voice suddenly came from the darkness, and a row of white teeth appeared out of nowhere. It was a black guy.
"Old Black, shut up."
"Who are you calling Old Black? Say that again."
The black guy, who had been slightly amused moments ago, suddenly flew into a rage.
"I'm talking about you."
Bach glanced at the black guy, who flipped him off. Bach couldn't do anything about the black guy, so he turned his anger back toward the Indian.
"Huff~."
Bach let out a long breath.
"I won't pursue what happened before. From now on, we follow the plan. Especially you, Rahal."
Bach glared at the Indian. The others in the room said nothing.
A few minutes later, the black guy, who had natural nighttime camouflage, spoke up.
"It's too quiet around here."
The black guy closed his eyes to sense the surroundings.
"It's the middle of the night. Being quiet is normal."
"No, I sensed it. All the breathing sounds around us have disappeared. There's one faint breathing next door, probably a woman."
The black guy stood up, uneasily sensing the area.
"Someone's approaching. Fast!"
As soon as the black guy finished speaking, a whistling sound of breaking air came.
Boom.
The villa's door shattered, and the cement walls on either side of the doorway cracked, forming a ragged hole. The security door flew toward the three men and clanged down in front of them.
Crack, crack...
Footsteps came from outside the hole—the sound of shoe soles crushing gravel.
Zheng~
The sound of a blade being drawn came. It wasn't loud, but it was very clear in the silent night.
A man in black walked into the doorway. Moonlight streamed into the room through the hole, faintly outlining the man's silhouette.
"So, you three are the ones causing trouble in this country."
Su Xiao held a longsword, blocking the doorway, and surveyed the three men in the room.
"Friend, calm down. You're with the Scavengers, right? We had some misunderstandings before."
Bang.
A gunshot rang out, and the smell of gunpowder spread.
Ding.
The bullet was deflected. Su Xiao stood motionless, blocking the entrance.
"Bach, it's useless. He wants to kill us. No need to explain."
The black guy was a perception-type, and Su Xiao's intense killing intent was unmistakable.
"Rahal, test his background."
Bach looked at the Indian.
"Why me?"
Rahal blurted out, clearly unhappy.
"Damn it. If you don't have the guts, don't develop toward being a main tank. You've 'consumed' so many team resources."
The Indian, Rahal, curled his lip and said, "I don't have a shield."
The black guy beside him picked up the twisted security door from the ground.
"Use this."
Reluctantly, Rahal took the security door. After hesitating for a moment, he slowly approached Su Xiao. He had no choice—it was for the sake of future benefits.
Rahal displayed extreme disunity. This kind of small adventure group was common in Reincarnation Paradise. Some contractors lacked the courage to go solo, and large-scale adventure groups wouldn't take them, so they had to form motley adventure groups with contractors of the same rank. They didn't trust each other, but the adventure group's constraints prevented them from backstabbing.
Watching Rahal approach slowly, a smile appeared on Su Xiao's face. He had initially thought these three were strong, but now it seemed they were just contractors with attributes overwhelming first-rank contractors. Their clumsy movements were utterly unimpressive in his eyes.
Su Xiao's combat power in the real world was very strong. In the real world, active skills couldn't be used, equipment was forcibly stored in the storage space, and only passive skills and physical attributes could be relied upon.
Su Xiao had developed four attributes and had a pile of passive skills.
Pressing his foot on the ground, Su Xiao quickly charged toward Rahal.
Whoosh~
The sound of breaking air came, and Rahal's heart turned cold. The enemy's speed was too fast.
Zheng!
A flash of blade light was especially conspicuous in the dim villa. The twisted security door was cut in half, and so were Rahal's arms.
"Ah!"
A scream rang out. In the next villa, a girl hiding in a wardrobe covered her ears, fear enveloping her. She should have been evacuated, but the Scavengers had been negligent.
Su Xiao lightly flicked the blood off his longsword, looking at Rahal, whose arms were spraying blood. The guy's physical toughness wasn't bad, but his combat experience was garbage. No need to think—this was a contractor who relied on equipment and active skills to fight.
"Bach, potion, quick."
Rahal's body convulsed. The pain of his severed arms turned his lips pale.
"How can I make a potion in the real world?"
Bach was somewhat disappointed in Rahal. The enemy was unexpectedly strong.
"What rank contractor are you? Third rank?"
Su Xiao didn't answer. He quickly charged toward the three men.
Bang, bang, bang...
The black guy, holding two pistols, opened fire. Every bullet aimed at Su Xiao's vital points.
Ding, ding, ding.
As Su Xiao charged forward, his longsword slashed repeatedly, deflecting all the bullets.
Watching Su Xiao rush in, the three assumed combat stances. Although they couldn't unleash their full strength in the real world, Bach wasn't a pushover either. He pulled a Nibal saber from his waist and charged at Su Xiao.
The black guy quickly emptied his pistol magazines. These bullets slowed Su Xiao's advance slightly.
Su Xiao closed in, and the first to suffer was Rahal.
"Save me..."
Rahal stamped his foot and leaped backward.
Su Xiao swung his left hand, and a nearly transparent steel wire flew out from his sleeve. A hook was tied to the front of the wire.
The wire wrapped around Rahal's waist, and the already airborne Rahal was forcibly pulled down.
Rahal's eyes widened. A faint blue blade light covered his vision.
Blade light wasn't an active ability, so it could be used normally in the real world. That was good news.
