Chapter 55: Unstoppable

“Kill him.”
“Being able to slash out sword energy isn’t that impressive. Get him.”

Was being able to slash out blade aura impressive? The answer was, of course, yes. Su Xiao’s [Blade Mastery] had cost a massive amount of resources, and the number of Soul Crystals consumed alone was astonishing.

The two sides closed in quickly. Before they could engage in melee, the enemy’s control skills came flying in.

Behind the enemy were two ranged fighters: an Ice Mage and an amateur Healer.

An amateur Healer was a Healer who dual-cultivated in both combat and support systems. Although this type of Healer’s healing output wasn’t strong, they had some self-preservation ability. Most Healers without a team developed this way.

A golden energy spear shot toward him. Su Xiao was about to sidestep to dodge, but the spear suddenly changed direction, stabbing straight toward his chest.

Based on Su Xiao’s experience, this was a control skill. If he got locked down now, the contractors about to close in on him would hack him to pieces.

Just as the golden spear was about to hit Su Xiao, his left hand, wrapped in a metal arm guard, grabbed for it.

The golden spear was full of force. Even though it was an energy construct, it scraped sparks against Su Xiao’s palm.

Su Xiao tilted his body, letting the golden spear graze through his hand until his palm touched the spear’s tail end. Then, his hand suddenly tightened.

Using all his strength, he swung it around, changing the golden spear’s direction and sending it flying toward a contractor in front of him.

That contractor’s eyes nearly popped out. This kind of maneuver shattered his worldview. His gaze seemed to say: ‘Bro, can you at least show some respect for that control skill?’

The golden spear stabbed into this contractor’s chest. The spear shattered with a bang, wrapping him in golden light and freezing him in place.

Su Xiao leaned forward and charged, the muscles in his right arm slightly bulging as he swung his blade toward the immobilized contractor.

The long blade cut through the air with a whining sound. The contractor’s eyes were wide with terror.

“Ooh~!”

After letting out a strange cry, the contractor’s head flew off.

No sooner had he severed one enemy’s head than a broad-backed greatsword came slashing down. Su Xiao raised his blade to block, spreading his legs slightly apart.

Clang! Sparks flew.

Cracks appeared in the stone slab beneath Su Xiao’s feet. His legs bent slightly—not because he couldn’t withstand the blow, but because he was dispersing the force. The cracks in the ground beneath him were the best evidence.

Although he could have taken the strike lightly and calmly, that would have been a stupid move, slightly injuring his body from the shock.

After dispersing the force, Su Xiao lifted his left leg and delivered a straight kick to the shinbone of the contractor in front of him.

Crack.

Su Xiao felt like he had snapped a tree branch. The burly man, over two meters tall, widened his eyes and looked down at his leg.

His shinbone was broken, the bone already piercing through the muscle of his calf.

“Ah…”

Pfft.

The brief scream was cut short as a long blade stabbed up from under the burly man’s chin, the tip piercing through the back of his skull.

Su Xiao quickly pulled out his long blade, stomped the ground, and agilely leaped backward.

Boom.

A warhammer smashed into the spot where Su Xiao had just been standing, sending crushed stone flying. A contractor holding a warhammer half a meter thick was staring at him.

Su Xiao narrowed his eyes. Getting hit by that thing would be unpleasant—it could even kill him. But the opponent was too clumsy; the chances of hitting him were slim.

Whoosh.

A gust of wind came from the side. Su Xiao slashed toward his flank.

With a crackling sound, an ice spike was shattered, sending ice shards flying. Ten meters away, a man in an ice-blue mage robe was watching Su Xiao.

“Ice Formation Diagram.”

The Ice Mage tapped his staff on the ground, and a magic circle instantly appeared beneath Su Xiao’s feet.

Crack, crack, crack.

A layer of thin ice quickly spread up Su Xiao’s legs. Everything happened in an instant.

Seeing Su Xiao locked down, the contractors on the bridge were overjoyed. The contractor with the massive hammer was especially pleased, laughing in a deep, rumbling voice.

The hammer-wielding contractor was about two and a half meters tall, and the dark, heavy warhammer in his hands was incredibly intimidating. Aside from being too clumsy, his attack power was undeniable.

“I’ll flatten you.”

The hammer-wielder charged at Su Xiao, but before he could take two steps, a chill ran down his spine, and his forward momentum unconsciously slowed.

Su Xiao had already sheathed Dragon-Slaying Flash, holding the hilt with one hand. A smile appeared on his face. He was waiting for the other contractors to get closer.

“Fall back!”

The contractors around Su Xiao all felt a wave of dread. Even the Ice Mage in the distance took several steps back.

The enemies didn’t close in; instead, they showed signs of fleeing. This disappointed Su Xiao.

Dragon-Slaying Flash left its sheath, and a circular blade aura rapidly expanded outward. The blue blade aura was very thin but exceptionally sharp, and it spread at an incredible speed.

The Ice Mage and the other five contractors instinctively dove to the ground. The hammer-wielder tripped while running and accidentally fell flat on his face.

Zheng!

The ring-shaped blade aura spread over ten meters before vanishing into the air.

The fleeing contractors all froze in place, blood seeping from their mouths.

Blood lines appeared on their chests and backs, slowly staining their clothes red.

Thud. A contractor’s upper body, from the chest up, fell to the ground, his arms severed at the biceps.

Thud, thud…

The sounds of bodies hitting the ground came one after another. Su Xiao let out a long breath, the soreness in his arm muscles gradually easing.

The fact that [Ring Break] could only be used three times a day was no joke. After exceeding that limit, his arm would need several days to recover, during which he couldn’t use his blade.

The contractors who had thrown themselves to the ground got up one by one, all swallowing hard. They knew they had blocked the bridge for a ruthless person and hit the jackpot.

Crack, crack.

The thin ice encasing Su Xiao’s lower body began to fracture.

Bang.

The ice layer shattered, and Su Xiao regained his freedom. Although his legs were a bit numb from the cold, he still quickly charged toward the Ice Mage.

The other five contractors hesitated for a moment. Three of them looked at Su Xiao with determined eyes. They had to kill him, or they would all die here.

Surrender was impossible. If they ran, the enemy had sniping capabilities, so escape was hopeless.

Not everyone thought that way. Two contractors exchanged glances and then quickly rushed to the edge of the stone bridge, leaping off.

Below was a bottomless cliff. Without flight abilities, jumping down meant a very low chance of survival.

But these two contractors were different. Their clothes were slightly modified to serve as gliding suits.

The two contractors glided down into the depths of the cliff. If you looked closely at their faces, you could see they were roughly similar in appearance. Even if they weren’t twin brothers, they must have been blood-related.

Of the dozen or so contractors blocking the bridge, only four remained. The rest were either dead or had fled.

The four were: the male Ice Mage, the female Healer, the two-and-a-half-meter-tall hammer-wielder, and the gloomy leader.

The gloomy leader’s weapon was a black iron rod. After Su Xiao used [Ring Break], he also felt the urge to jump off the cliff.

The female Healer had already started running, but her short legs weren’t fast enough.

The hammer-wielder was very ferocious, charging headlong at Su Xiao. Judging by his straightforward gaze, his intelligence probably wasn’t very high.

As for the Ice Mage, he was ready to fight to the death, because Su Xiao was charging straight at him.

“Ice Soul.”

A chill radiated from the Ice Mage’s body. He had likely activated a high-level ability, causing his combat power to skyrocket.

Just as the Ice Mage was preparing to turn into a turret, Su Xiao, who was right in front of him, suddenly vanished.
