Chapter 21: Martial God
Su Xiao wanted to fight his way out, but the enemies were too numerous. Dense masses of foes surrounded him on all sides, obscuring even the distant scenery.
The war cries of the red-skinned natives and the screeches of the sting scorpions merged into a single roar across the battlefield. Both sides suffered rapid casualties, yet neither showed any sign of retreat.
If one side was defeated, their land would be seized, and their living conditions would grow increasingly harsh. This was a war of races.
Red blood and green bodily fluids mingled together. Su Xiao’s eyes swept around like a hawk’s, killing any creature that dared approach him. If he didn’t kill them, they would kill him—this was a battlefield, with no room for reasoning.
Fighting his way out was now impossible. The key was surviving within the melee.
A blade light flashed, and two sting scorpions were severed simultaneously. Su Xiao spun and delivered a side kick, deforming the head of a red-skinned native.
Quickly pulling out a [Dragon’s Strength] potion, he applied it to the back of his hand.

…
With a Stamina attribute of 46 points, Su Xiao wasn’t even winded after ten minutes of bloody combat.
Piles of shattered corpses surrounded him. Su Xiao stood atop a towering mound of bodies, like a Martial God on the battlefield.
The nearby red-skinned natives stared at him in terror, their legs trembling, too afraid to approach.
The red-skinned natives dared not advance, but the sting scorpions didn’t care. They lacked even brains; fear was an emotion foreign to them.
Several sting scorpions climbed the corpse pile. Before they could near Su Xiao, white streaks flashed through the air, and the scorpions were sliced into segments.
Su Xiao leaped down from the corpse pile and plunged into the midst of the sting scorpions.
*Zheng.*
A circular slashing arc appeared. Wherever the arc passed, the bodies of the sting scorpions snapped apart. Su Xiao cleared a circular area about five meters in diameter around him.
Gripping his blade with both hands, Su Xiao took a deep breath.
He slashed out into empty air, and a pale blue blade aura detached from the edge of Dragon-Slaying Flash.
*Zheng.* Dragon-Slaying Flash emitted the crisp ring unique to metal.
The blade aura flew into the main force of sting scorpions. Where it passed, the scorpions fell like wheat before a scythe.
After the blade aura passed, a passage two meters wide and ten meters long appeared, covered in green blood and sting scorpions still writhing in their death throes.
Su Xiao intended to break out through this gap, but within two seconds, the sting scorpions had filled the “opening” again.
Su Xiao was like a one-man army on the battlefield. Not only could no one approach him, but even a single glance might get them killed.
The sting scorpions wouldn’t swarm him for a short while. He turned his gaze to the red-skinned ghouls.
“Walalaka bat (Unknown language).”
The red-skinned natives clearly had no intention of approaching Su Xiao. They began to circle around him, their enemy being the sting scorpions, not Su Xiao.
Noticing the attitude of these red-skinned natives, Su Xiao frowned.
The red-skinned natives from last night hadn’t shown any sign of fear. Those guys had even ignored the excruciating pain caused by Azure Steel Shadow.
The red-skinned natives he saw now were different. Though much weaker, they screamed when injured and displayed emotions of fear and panic.
Compared to those from yesterday, these red-skinned natives were closer to humans. The ones from last night seemed like specially bred killing machines.
The war continued. Though the red-skinned natives had been scared off by Su Xiao, the sting scorpions charged in overwhelming waves again.
Any creature that approached Su Xiao was killed without mercy, let alone these war machines.
The sting scorpions’ attributes were very weak. If they stood in a row, Su Xiao could cut down a whole line with one slash. But their numbers were endless, covering the sky and earth.
With no hope of breaking out, he could only keep killing until the war ended.
Su Xiao’s four attributes exceeded 40 points, and his Blade Mastery was at Lv.21, making his combat power terrifying in war.
Moreover, Su Xiao used a blade, so he wasn’t afraid of facing a massive wave of enemies.
The slaughter began. The corpses of beasts around Su Xiao grew more numerous.
Half an hour later, Su Xiao had lost count of how many sting scorpions he had killed. Hundreds? No, perhaps over a thousand.
…
Far from the battlefield, six female contractors lay prone on a nearby hillside.
“It’s starting again. We just dodged one yesterday. Do these two races fight every day?”
A timid healer shrank behind the slope, observing the battlefield through binoculars.
“I’m starving. We need to leave the Red Soil Region quickly. After this war ends, we’ll cross the battlefield. If the intel is correct, the other side of the battlefield is the normal area.”
Another female contractor spoke. She carried a sniper rifle on her back, her demeanor cold and elegant. Apart from her teammates, she rarely spoke to outsiders.
These six were all the members of the Blood Gate Adventurers. Like Su Xiao, their landing point was also the Red Soil Region.
Throughout the day, the women of Blood Gate had experienced the terror of the Red Soil Region. All of them were injured. If not for the healer Candy, they would have already suffered casualties.
“Captain, something seems off in the battlefield.”
Candy, holding the binoculars, looked toward the center of the battlefield. She spotted a human fighting amidst the chaos, surrounded by corpses.
“This is…”
Candy’s voice trembled. Some unpleasant memories surfaced.
“Captain, that man has appeared!”
“Which one?”
“That blade guy.”
Cold Moon’s pupils contracted. She snatched the binoculars from Candy and looked toward the center of the battlefield.
“Finally found that bastard. Let’s kill him now.”
Sniper Bee unslung her sniper rifle and aimed the scope at the center of the battlefield.
Vice Captain Blood Rose lowered her head, remaining silent.
The scheming, cunning woman pushed up her black-rimmed glasses, her gaze vacant, as if contemplating something.
“Blade guy? The one you mentioned before?”
The newly recruited main tank Rona stepped forward. She wasn’t muscular; in fact, she was somewhat slender, with a head of wine-red hair and a scent of jasmine.
Rona was a bit excited. She had heard her teammates mention how strong that blade guy was, but she wasn’t impressed. She didn’t believe anything she hadn’t seen with her own eyes. She wanted to fight him.
Rona was different from the other members of Blood Gate. She harbored a secret ambition: to win over Cold Moon. She was a main tank with a particular sexual orientation.
Cold Moon kept observing the battlefield, her expression growing darker.
“Monster! He’s already ridiculously strong.”
Cold Moon clenched her fist and punched the grass.
The scheming woman took the binoculars, observed for a while, then shook her head.
“Without a very good opportunity, going up there now would be suicide. Unless he falls off that cliff over there and dies.”
Bee had only glanced at Su Xiao through the scope before quickly looking away. She had a feeling that if she kept aiming at him, she would be exposed.
Rona was puzzled by their reactions. She reached for the binoculars, but the scheming woman didn’t let go. Rona was confused.
“You’d better prepare yourself mentally. This is our mortal enemy. It’s life or death, no reconciliation possible.”
Rona nodded, but inwardly she wasn’t convinced. Her strength was even slightly greater than Cold Moon’s.
