Chapter 12: Wait a Moment, I...

A single shot killed a contractor, and all because of his gaze. This Lord Rat was utterly ruthless.
After killing a contractor, the laser gun in Lord Rat's hand shattered, along with one of his arms.
The fragments of his arm fell to the ground. Lord Rat's arm was not made of flesh and blood, but of metal.
"Disobey orders and die. Do you understand now? That guy is the example."
Lord Rat didn't even glance at his broken arm. The severed limb gradually regenerated as countless nanomachines repaired it.
Su Xiao witnessed this from a distance. This Lord Rat gave him a very dangerous feeling, at least not someone he could contend with now.
Lord Rat ignored the contractors. He was just making an example of one to avoid more trouble later.
Sitting in the plane's cockpit, Lord Rat took out a bottle of wine and gulped it down.
"Sigh~ Damn Paradise, dragging me here to be a laborer. If the Lord were here, Paradise wouldn't dare boss me around like this."
Thinking back to the days of roaming the Void with that Lord, Lord Rat smiled. Fine wine was that Lord's favorite. As a mere pawn of that Lord, Lord Rat had gradually come to enjoy alcohol too.
Roaming the Void, taking whatever they liked—beautiful women, treasures, fine wine, everything.
"Lord, where have you gone? At least give us subordinates a coordinate. Such a willful Lord."
...

On the plane, Su Xiao found a seat and sat down. The other contractors also took their seats.
The cabin door closed, and the plane quickly took off, heading to an unknown location. If his guess was correct, the plane was flying toward Devouring Island.
Su Xiao tried to sense outside the plane but failed, as expected. The plane was made of special materials that blocked perception.
The plane's destination should be Devouring Island. Based on Su Xiao's speculation, this planet was somewhere between the Real World and a derivative world.
The name T12K Planet was unheard of. However, since Reincarnation Paradise could teleport him directly here, it meant Paradise had some control over this place, just not as thoroughly as a derivative world.
This was evident from the teleportation point. He wasn't directly sent to Devouring Island but had to take a plane to get there.
The plane flew at high speed. The cabin was silent until, five minutes later, a contractor broke the silence.
"Friends, I'm the vice-captain of the Haohai Adventure Group. I have some information about Devouring Island to share, but there's a condition."
A temporary contract was displayed. Its general content was forming a small group to tackle the survival trial together.
A few contractors were clearly interested and quickly approached to talk.
With this start, the cabin grew lively. Some formed alliances, others exchanged information.
Su Xiao stayed in his seat. Not only did he not want to join a temporary group, but even if he did, whether those people would dare to accept him was another question.
The seats near Su Xiao were empty. The contractors didn't want to get close to him. The unintentional killing intent he exuded was chilling.
The nearby contractors all memorized Su Xiao's appearance and mentally tagged him as "extremely dangerous" and "best not to provoke."
Forming alliances was common. At least three hundred of the five hundred contractors chose to ally, splitting into numerous small groups.
At the front of the cabin, several hooded female contractors whispered among themselves.
"Did I see that right?"
"No mistake. It's definitely him. I'd recognize him even if he were reduced to ashes."
A female contractor gritted her teeth, her gaze occasionally darting toward Su Xiao.
"Don't expose us yet. That guy is freakishly strong. We'll find a way to kill him on Devouring Island."
The leader of the female contractors spoke. Her voice was calm, but her mind couldn't help recalling a past scene.
A man wielding a long knife charged at them. No threats, no insults. He barely even spoke.
Their control skills were useless. The mages couldn't burst him down. The front line couldn't hold. The sniper's bullets were easily dodged.
"Bai Ye, I won't lose this time. The blood debt of thirty-two sisters must be avenged."
There were six female contractors: Leng Yue, captain of the Banshee Flower Adventure Group; vice-captain Blood Rose; the scheming black-bellied woman; sniper Feng; healer Tangguo; and the newly recruited main tank, Luona.
After nearly being wiped out by Su Xiao, Leng Yue had a revelation. She realized that numbers didn't matter. What they needed were elites.
After the Giant World ended, the ordinary members of Banshee Flower left one by one. That was normal.
The darkest time for Banshee Flower had arrived, shrinking from a medium-sized adventure group to a small one.
Leng Yue wasn't discouraged. She found this beneficial for the team's development, as resource allocation became more sufficient.
In the following derivative worlds, the women of Banshee Flower began to explore more aggressively, no longer playing it safe.
Though they faced several near-wipeout crises, their strength rapidly improved. They all timed their advancement tasks together—a scheme by the black-bellied woman.
Now, Leng Yue was ready to take revenge on Su Xiao. She felt strong enough.
She might not have heard the saying: "Isn't it better to stay alive? Why go to your death?"
Su Xiao leaned back in his seat, seemingly unaware, but he had long noticed the hateful gaze.
"It seems this trial won't be boring. Which group of enemies is it this time?"
Su Xiao was a bit troubled, not because he feared how strong the enemies were, but because he had too many enemies. He couldn't recall which group this was.
No matter which enemy it was, they would find him once they reached Devouring Island. They would fight on sight. He would kill them or be killed—simple as that.

[Arrived above Devouring Island.]

Three consecutive blood-red warnings appeared. Su Xiao had already taken out all his weapons, so he ignored the warning.
"Damn it, the storage space is about to be disabled. Only two minutes left."
"Normal. It'll be restored after the survival trial. The trial isn't as simple as you think."
The contractors began taking out their weapons and carrying supplies in bags.
The storage space was an ability all contractors possessed. Only now did they realize how precious it was.
[Announcement: Deployment is about to begin. Contractors must spend 100 Paradise Coins to purchase a parachute pack.]
Some contractors in the cabin knew this would happen and calmly paid 100 Paradise Coins.
Su Xiao didn't know about this, but he always kept around a thousand Paradise Coins on hand, so he decisively paid 200—100 extra for Bubu Wang's parachute.
[Announcement: All contractors must return to their seats within ten seconds.]
There was no warning, but the text was blood-red. Disobeying would surely result in a miserable death.
All contractors sat back down. Su Xiao noticed a contractor nearby with a pale face. He had no parachute pack on his back. The answer was obvious—he didn't have enough Paradise Coins.
"Friend, can you lend me two Paradise Coins? I'll repay you handsomely after the trial."
That contractor began begging those around him. Everyone shook their heads. The storage space was locked. How could they trade Paradise Coins?
