Chapter 7: Suicide Squad
Main cabin of the spaceship, dining area.
After discussion, the contractors from Reincarnation Paradise reached a preliminary alliance. Don’t assume that contractors from Reincarnation Paradise would cooperate just because they’re in the same war zone. This kind of voting-based alliance was already a rare situation.
There were 257 contractors on their side. After a vote, almost everyone agreed to join the temporary team. The temporary team had no restrictions, and anyone could leave at any time.
The remaining eight people disagreed to join. Among them, two were in a state of self-isolation. They looked dull and never initiated communication with others. Judging by their appearance, they seemed to be twin brothers, both affected by some ability of their own.
The self-isolating brothers could be ignored. They would only act according to their own will, completely uncommandable.
The remaining six were all lone wolves with special abilities: Black Parasite, Evil Living Summoner, Ghost Self-Destruct Specialist, Poison Master, Active Biological Bomb, and finally, the Instant Death Specialist.
As for Black Parasite, that girl looked gloomy. Her abilities didn’t distinguish between friend and foe. Even she couldn’t fully control the parasites she released.
The Evil Living Summoner guy was similar. He himself didn’t know what he could summon. The only certainty was that his summons all had eerie traits, mostly living creatures.
The Ghost Self-Destruct Specialist was a girl who looked soft and cute. When she released ghosts, those ghosts would burrow into any living creature within half a kilometer around her, then explode, indiscriminately hitting friend and foe.
The Poison Master went without saying. This guy played with poison and always looked like he was about to poison himself to death. No one would easily approach him. It was said he was once a member of some adventure group, but made a mistake while handling a poison bottle.
The owner of the ‘Active Biological Bomb’ ability was an explosion maniac. Even the saliva he spat would explode after a while. This kid standing in the corner seemed ready to self-destruct at any moment.
As for the last one, the ‘Instant Death Specialist’ chubby guy, his ability was the most special. Under normal circumstances, he was very weak. A fifth-rank contractor could hang him up and beat him. But after he died, even a sixth-rank large adventure group could only flee. Whether the chubby guy could come back to life depended on how many creatures he devoured while ‘dead.’ If he devoured enough, he could revive; if not, he would truly die.
These six people weren’t suitable for acting with the main force. They would definitely cause friendly fire. Under the coordination of the Dean, they formed a small team called the Suicide Squad. Each of them was more toxic than the last, so they could just harm each other.
The Suicide Squad’s first target was to go harass Apocalypse Paradise. The reason was that Apocalypse Paradise had the most people, making it perfect for their abilities to shine.
“We’re off. If we’re still alive, see you in a few days.”
The Poison Master was the captain of the Suicide Squad. This wasn’t because he was older, but determined by drawing lots. Whether the other members would listen to him was up to fate.
The Suicide Squad set off. The Dean and Widow West began discussing which side to prioritize. The Dean suggested dealing with Death Paradise first, while Widow West advocated for targeting Sanctuary Paradise first, as their church group this time was formidable.
The Mad Doctor remained silent. He trusted the Dean’s decisions. The two had cooperated from the first rank until now, so their mutual trust was naturally high.
Su Xiao didn’t express his stance. When it came to planning and scheming, letting the Dean and Widow West handle it was best. Having too many decision-makers in such matters would lead to chaos and reduce operational efficiency.
Gorilla King, who looked like a gorilla with a face full of black hair, was picking his nose. The visual impact was strong; once seen, the image lingered in the mind for a long time.
“Death Paradise is the priority. Sanctuary’s church group is indeed tough, but now isn’t the time to deal with them. It would be very difficult for Doctor Blue to infiltrate those zealots, and the risk of exposure is high.”
The Dean’s proposal made a lot of sense. The first target shouldn’t be a pushover but the hardest one. Death Paradise was an old rival.
“Precisely because the church group is hard to deal with, we should prioritize…”
Widow West spoke for several minutes before stopping. Her proposal was equally clear-headed. She wanted to wipe out the church group as quickly as possible.
A disagreement arose. This was the drawback of two old schemers cooperating.
“I support prioritizing Death Paradise.”
A man sitting on a long dining table spoke up.
“Prioritize the church group.”
“Deal with Death Paradise first.”
In this situation, the best approach was to let everyone voice their opinions, because Reincarnation Paradise’s side had no true leader, nor could there be one.
“Alright, let’s deal with Death Paradise first.”
Widow West didn’t insist on her point. The Dean’s plan was equally efficient. From this moment on, the Dean became the planner, Widow West was responsible for refining his plan, and the decision-making power was handed over to the Dean.
“We’re listening to you now. If your plan fails, you die.”
A pair of eyes stared at the Dean. This wasn’t a joke. If the plan failed, even if it meant enduring the penalty mechanism, these madmen would blast the Dean to pieces. Then Widow West would take over. If she also failed, she would die too. This was the style of Reincarnation Paradise. Those with ability could become decision-makers, but they only had one chance. Failure meant death, just like the tasks in Reincarnation Paradise—failure led to forced execution.
Under the gaze of many malicious eyes, a smile appeared on the Dean’s face. He enjoyed this feeling.
In today’s situation, even if the super old schemer Sphinx were still alive, he couldn’t stabilize the scene. Sphinx was indeed cunning as a ghost, but when facing the madmen of Reincarnation Paradise, he couldn’t remain so composed. In this regard, the Dean was stronger than Sphinx.
“Doctor Blue, you have one hour. Within that hour, infiltrate Death Paradise’s base camp.”
“What do I do after that?”
“You don’t need to know. Just wait. I’ll create an opportunity for you. Remember one thing: you are a contractor of Death Paradise. You must wholeheartedly help Death Paradise seize the Space-Time Power Condensate.”
“You want me… to gain a voice there? Or become a decision-maker?”
“Of course not. No one trusts a nobody. Don’t think the enemy is that stupid. Wait for an opportunity. If you have the guts, create one yourself.”
The Dean didn’t elaborate on the plan. What he asked the Mad Doctor to do was simple: infiltrate Death Paradise’s base camp, then wait for an opportunity, or use personal ability to create one.
…
Near the base camp of Apocalypse Paradise, over a hundred contractors were on guard. Among them, more than a dozen looked visibly displeased. The battle hadn’t even started yet, but Nameless Saint wouldn’t let them mine nearby. Missing out on earnings was a loss.
Several types of detection equipment floated in the air, keeping watch for approaching enemies.
Suddenly, an alarm sounded from above. A fist-sized, frisbee-shaped detection device emitted red rays, indicating an enemy approach.
“Enemy approaching! Stay alert! Watch out for explosives!”
Shouts spread. The nearly hundred contractors around the spaceship became vigilant, and more people rushed out from inside the ship.
In the distance, a chubby guy with his hands in his pockets walked over. He had come to ‘die.’
