Chapter 72: Unsolvable Toughness
Under the snow, Amu grabbed the Night Temptress Witch's calf, while her hand stabbed into Amu's shoulder.
With a boom, the wind pressure blasted the snow into the air, creating a snow crater on the ground.
Amu reached forward with its large hand, grabbing for the Night Temptress Witch's neck. A cold gleam flashed before its eyes—she was trying to gouge out Amu's eye.
Amu tilted its head back, and the Night Temptress Witch's right hand stabbed into its cheek. Her sharp nails were blocked by Amu's skull. Though the injury looked horrifying, for Amu, it was merely a flesh wound.
‘Blade Path: Azure Demon.’
‘Night Demon Skin.’
Zheng~
A blue-green blade light slashed across the Night Temptress Witch's neck. Her body deflated like a punctured balloon, turning into a purple liquid.
Amu walked out of the snow crater, its chest splattered with purple liquid. A hissing burning sound emerged as a layer of ice armor froze on Amu's chest, peeling off along with the purple liquid.
As soon as the ice armor hit the ground, it was corroded away, and the purple liquid began to eat into the snow.
The Night Temptress Witch crouched a dozen meters away, panting heavily, cold sweat streaming down her cheeks. ‘Night Demon Skin’ was a powerful death-substitution ability, and each use consumed one Witch Eye.
Ordinary witches only had three Witch Eyes: one in each palm and one in the lower abdomen. The eyes used for vision were fundamentally different from Witch Eyes. Though called eyes, they were more like organs for storing special energy.
This Night Temptress Witch, named ‘You·Sis·Sandra,’ had 26 Witch Eyes. Even within the Night Temptress Witch Guild, she was infamous, known as the Witch Eye Bandit.
Strangely, on the arena ranking list, she was only marked as ‘Night Witch.’ This was due to personal reasons—for Night Temptress Witches, true names were tied to the soul, and only those closest to them could know them.
“Huff, huff~”
Crouching, Sandra steadied her breathing. Blood stained her witch dress; Baha's deadly three-hit combo earlier had been brutal, injuring her spine and slitting her throat.
“Careless. There really are enemies that can hide their presence. This ability... it's too unsolvable, isn't it?”
Sandra tore off her witch dress, revealing a set of lightweight scale armor that only protected her torso. The scales were fine and dense, outlining the contours of her abdominal muscles beneath.
In most people's minds, witches used black magic and had frail bodies.
Night Temptress Witches were the complete opposite. They modified themselves, at most mastering some curse-type abilities for long-range lethality.
Sandra lowered her body slightly. On her arms, rectangular black keratin layers protected her forearms. These were modified using Witch Eyes as materials. As for where Sandra got so many Witch Eyes, the answer was obvious—she stole them. For her, Witch Eyes were consumables.
“Let me... enjoy this more.”
Sandra, who was usually full of allure, now looked like a monster hunting in the night with those arms.
Bang.
Snow splashed beneath Sandra's feet as she lunged straight at Su Xiao.
Su Xiao didn't meet her head-on, because Amu had already stepped forward.
Amu blocked in front of Su Xiao, ice gathering in its hand to form an ice warhammer. It raised the hammer and swung.
Boom!
Sandra, full of disbelief, was smashed into the snow. She hadn't cared about Amu's hammer strike at all—in terms of speed, power, and angle, it looked mediocre.
But this seemingly mediocre strike hit Sandra squarely on the crown of her head at a very tricky angle.
A long blade stabbed down from above, piercing straight through Sandra's head. Her body deflated like a leaking balloon—another Night Demon Skin.
Sandra reappeared a dozen meters away, shaking her head. Across from her, Amu once again blocked in front of Su Xiao, a new ice hammer in its hand.
Amu knew it was clumsy, so it only practiced one move: ‘Raise hammer, swing.’ If ten times weren't enough, it practiced a hundred; if a hundred weren't enough, ten thousand; if ten thousand weren't enough, a million.
Sandra had been careless. She hadn't paid much attention to Amu before, thinking this bull was just thick-skinned and could generate ice, posing no real threat.
That one hammer strike made Sandra wary. This bull was just as troublesome.
“Moo!”
Amu charged toward Sandra with big strides. Once it started charging, it gave off an unstoppable feeling.
Sandra was in a tough spot now. Though Su Xiao hadn't done much, he posed the greatest threat. Whenever he acted, he forced her to use a Night Demon Skin.
Amu's speed was its weakness, but Baha compensated for that. Just as Amu charged at Sandra, Baha appeared behind the enemy.
This made things even harder for Sandra. Her pupils suddenly turned triangular as she prepared to curse Baha, but Baha vanished instantly, and Amu charged straight at her.
Pfft, pfft, pfft...
A spray of blood burst across Amu's chest. Sandra's hands stabbed out in blurs, leaving trails of blood in the air.
What Sandra never expected happened: the bull in front of her completely abandoned defense and swung its hammer at her.
‘Heart Plunder!’
Blood light flashed on Sandra's right arm. Her hand, stiff and straight, stabbed into Amu's chest, then turned into a claw, grabbing for Amu's heart. But it got stuck a few centimeters short.
Amu's arms reached forward, wrapping around Sandra with a thud, holding her tight. Low temperature spread.
With a splat, purple liquid splattered everywhere. Sandra used Night Demon Skin again, reappearing a dozen meters away.
Sandra wanted to retreat badly, but Su Xiao, holding his long blade and having barely acted, made her abandon that thought. She had no chance to escape.
Sandra tangled with Amu—no, it was more like Amu was getting beaten one-sidedly. The blood it splattered had already stained the snow within a few meters red.
Baha occasionally appeared to harass her, which irritated Sandra greatly.
Blood gradually stained the surrounding dozen meters red. The ominous feeling in Sandra's heart grew stronger, but she was more curious: why wasn't this bull dead yet?
If Amu were that easy to kill, it wouldn't be the tank of Su Xiao's team.

...
With three layers of defensive abilities plus the self-healing effect of ‘Ice Flame Life,’ Amu possessed extremely formidable survivability.
And don't forget, nearby, Bubu Wang was still providing the Snow Goddess aura, further enhancing Amu's endurance in prolonged battles.
