Chapter 15: The True King
Su Xiao, who was about to charge forward, suddenly halted. Clearly, this Ancient God had encountered Law Destroyers before, and judging by her current attitude, she had been thoroughly disciplined.
“Which one are you?”
The reason Su Xiao hadn’t attacked was that this Ancient God knew of the Law Destroyers’ existence, and from the looks of it, she had clearly interacted with a previous generation Law Destroyer.
“I am the Goddess of Death…” The female Ancient God stopped mid-sentence, as if feeling that phrasing was inappropriate. She then said, “I am the Ancient God, Ursula.”
“Ursula.”
Su Xiao narrowed his eyes. After a moment’s thought, he decided it would be more convenient to first knock her down before negotiating.
“All you Law Destroyers have messed-up brains! Bastard!”
Ursula raised her arm, and the surrounding air suddenly solidified.
Crack! Crack!
Crisp sounds came from around Su Xiao. Seeing this, Ursula’s cheek twitched. She extended both arms horizontally, and her body transformed into a swarm of gray butterflies before dissipating.
With a loud crash, the solidified air around Su Xiao shattered. He snapped his fingers.
Snap~
Baha, who was on standby nearby, spread its wings. Six black feathers detached from its body, formed a circle, and then shattered.
Boom!
The space within 1,000 meters was sealed by Baha. Spatial abilities within this area were interrupted, and for the next 6 minutes, any spatial ability of the Sixth Rank or below could not be used here. This was the Demon Hawk Domain.
The space in front of Su Xiao twisted, and Ursula, with her pale skin, appeared. She looked somewhat bewildered at first, but soon saw Su Xiao holding a long blade, his eyes glowing red.
If it came to a contest of martial prowess, the Ancient God Ursula was at the level of Sotos, and might not even be able to defeat Sotos.
Su Xiao had once fought Sotos one-on-one. Keep in mind, that was right after he had just advanced to the Sixth Rank. Now, his strength was vastly different from before.
But don’t underestimate Sotos either. After all, that guy was a Sixth Rank boss. Therefore, the Ancient God Ursula was also at the boss level.
“Ha, haha, I mean, I wasn’t cursing you just now. Do you believe me?”
Ursula tried her best to maintain a smile. It had been a long time since she had smiled like this. For the past few hundred years, she had been an untouchable existence in the Abyss. Anyone who dared to spy on her in the Abyss would meet a dead end.
“…”
Su Xiao flicked the blood off his blade and slowly sheathed the longsword.
“You’re not a pure-blooded Ancient God.”
Su Xiao sat down on the stone table. Seeing this, Ursula breathed a sigh of relief in her heart. The reason she had fled upon seeing Su Xiao was that she sensed she was very likely no match for him. Moreover, even if she managed to defeat Su Xiao by some stroke of luck, an even more terrifying Law Destroyer would come to deal with her. Clearly, Ursula was still unaware that the Law Destruction Era had ended, and Su Xiao was the last remaining Shadow of Law Destruction, with the rest being mere lingering souls.
“I am an Ancient God, not a half-breed!”
Ursula reacted as if her tail had been stepped on, suddenly becoming aggressive.
“You are… a half-breed between a Neutral God and an Ancient God? That’s rare. If a certain crazy woman were still alive, she would be very interested in you.”
“!”
Although Ursula tried her best to hide her expression, her heart clenched. After all, being held like a doll and slept with for several months by a certain crazy woman was a black mark on her history, too painful to recall.
Ursula clearly remembered the surprise and delight in that crazy female Law Destroyer’s eyes when she saw her, followed by the words: “There’s actually such a beautiful female Ancient God.”
After that, Ursula’s nightmare began. That crazy woman kept her by her side like an accessory. During the day, she made her wash clothes and cook. If she disobeyed, she would beat her until she cried, then lock her in a cage and slowly tame her. The pain that came from deep within her soul was something she could never forget.
At night, that crazy woman would hold her like a doll and sleep. Ursula desperately wanted to roar: “I am an Ancient God, damn it! Is it a crime for a half-breed Ancient God to be beautiful? Law Destroyers, go f*ck yourselves!”
Unfortunately, she didn’t dare say that. She had personally witnessed that crazy woman chop a beast-shaped Ancient God to pieces. That evening’s dinner was that very beast-shaped Ancient God, steamed. She had cooked it herself, and the crazy woman even praised her culinary skills.
Originally, Ursula was a maid plus a doll. But after that crazy woman tasted the deliciousness of the Ancient God, Ursula gained an additional identity: emergency rations. However, Ursula felt that the other party probably wouldn’t eat her, at least she had never seen that crazy woman eat a humanoid creature.
“Oh? It seems you’ve met that crazy woman. You must have had a hard time.”
Hearing Su Xiao’s words, Ursula looked up at him, her gaze beginning to change.
“She…”
As soon as Ursula opened her mouth, she felt something stuck in her throat. She wanted to speak but couldn’t.
“Dead.”
“Is that so? Someone so powerful could die too. I originally thought no one could defeat her. Ah~, yes, she could bleed too, and her blood was also red.”
Ursula slowly sat down on the ground, her head lowered, lost in thought.
“Where is the Soul Stone she left behind?”
Su Xiao asked as if casually, but in reality, he was testing her.
“The Soul Stone is… guess.”
Ursula looked up, smiling at Su Xiao. Half-breed Ancient Gods were lively, unlike pure-blooded Ancient Gods who would fight without any nonsense. At least, every pure-blooded Ancient God Su Xiao had encountered was like that. Although they were all ugly to a new level, they were all tough nuts to crack.
“…”
Su Xiao chose not to guess. He gripped the hilt of Dragon-Slaying Flash.
“You have to make a pact with me. As long as I tell you where the Soul Stone is, you can’t cut me.”
“Pact?”
“Mm, a pact. A Law Destroyer’s pact is trustworthy.”
“Alright.”
Su Xiao’s straightforward reply caused a wave of hesitation in Ursula’s heart.
“The Soul Stone is inside the head of the Saint King.”
Ursula’s tone was firm. If she said this had nothing to do with her, Su Xiao would never believe it.
“The skeleton holding the Soul Stone in the Abyss?”
“That one? I set that up. Apparently, even today, some Saint descendants are still studying that pile of broken bones. I just picked up a random skeleton in the Abyss. Mortals are so amusing.”
Ursula chuckled. Her malicious personality might have been influenced by a certain crazy woman.
“Who is the leader of the Council of Gods?”
“The Council of Gods? Sounds familiar. Let me think. Oh, right, they came to the Abyss to find me. They seemed to want to re-establish order or something. Very boring. But they’ve allied with the Serpent.”
“The Serpent?”
“The Abyssal Serpent. Very strong. Mm…” Ursula thought for a moment, as if she couldn’t find a comparison for the Abyssal Serpent. But seeing Su Xiao, her eyes lit up, and she said, “About as strong as you. No, it should be stronger than you. Perhaps only the true king of Sera, the Ironfeather King at his peak, could kill it. But the current Ironfeather King is too old. After all, he’s not a Saint descendant. He’s at least 260 years old now. It’s a miracle he hasn’t died of old age.”
Ursula knew many secrets. At least, Su Xiao had never heard of the Ironfeather King she mentioned.
“You’ll meet the Ironfeather King soon. As expected, he still hates the Abyss so much.”
Ursula looked out the window.
Su Xiao jumped down from the stone table, stood in front of the window, and looked into the courtyard.
An old man, about 1.8 meters tall, holding a hooked-blade spear, stood in the courtyard. This hooked-blade spear was the most common cold weapon on the battlefield, but in this man’s hands, it was entirely different. Near him lay several corpses. These were four contractors from Death Paradise. They hadn’t even let out a scream before being slaughtered by this old man, as easily as killing chickens or dogs.
“Ursula? Long time no see. How have you been?”
An old but vigorous voice came. The Ironfeather King, dressed in loose gray clothes, was not strong, but just by standing there, he gave off a feeling that he would never fall.
“Mm, pretty good. I haven’t been to Sera for decades. Someone woke me up this time. You have to believe me. Also, how is your health?”
Facing the Ironfeather King, Ursula showed a new level of cowardice.
The Ironfeather King was once a soldier on the battlefield. Everything he had, he had earned by fighting on the battlefield. As long as he was there, the Northern Alliance dared not attack the city of Arans. One man, intimidating an entire enemy nation.
