Chapter 39: Clash
The Miracle Land of Aisenla was a city of beautiful scenery. Although there was no military force maintaining public order within the city, the crime rate was astonishingly low.
Aisenla's penalties were very simple, or rather, there was only one type of punishment: being expelled from the city.
For petty theft and the like, offenders would be banished to small cities like 'Kir City,' never to return to the Miracle Land of Aisenla.
As for robbery or causing others physical disability, offenders would be banished to the Holy Silver District of Heru. For the commoners of Aisenla, Heru was the legendary City of Terror.
For major crimes like murder, offenders would be banished to the Bone Harbor of Heru. For commoners to survive even a few hours there was a miracle.
If a criminal successfully escaped from Bone Harbor, they would be granted freedom. They could not return to Aisenla, but they could freely enter and leave other cities, provided they could actually leave Heru City.
To date, 99% of criminals banished to Bone Harbor died there. Even Gray Wizards dared not act arrogantly in Bone Harbor, as the gangs there could hunt witches.
In fact, the corpses of wizards could be sold in Bone Harbor. The price for a Gray Wizard's corpse was generally around 500 to 700 silver coins.
There was once an Arcane Wizard who went to Bone Harbor for revenge. The result was that the Arcane Wizard's corpse appeared in the underground market of Bone Harbor the next day, divided into 26 pieces and soaked in glass bottles filled with preservative solution.
People with potential could become Gray Wizards by drinking the Enlightenment Potion. So what would happen to someone without potential if they were directly injected with the Enlightenment Potion? If you wanted to know the answer, a day trip to Bone Harbor would make everything clear, provided you were still alive.
Aside from the Ancient Gods, the Wizard World had three major powers: the Wizard Council, the Miracle Land of Aisenla, and the last one, the Blood-Stained Sail Bone Harbor.
Bone Harbor was once the lair of the Dominator. The gangs that could survive here naturally all had their own skills.
Compared to Bone Harbor, the Miracle Land of Aisenla was simply paradise. No commoner wanted to leave this place, and the same went for wizards.
Located on the east side of the Miracle Land of Aisenla was the Obsidian Manor.
This manor was originally the property of a wealthy merchant, but it now belonged to Sfenk. It wasn't that Sfenk had seized it; the wealthy merchant had willingly offered it, even re-hiring the servants.
Sfenk had the ability to take this perfectly located manor, which could house over a hundred people, by force, but he didn't. Why offend the local merchant when a few words and a promise could accomplish the task? Even if there was a billion-to-one chance it could affect the subsequent plan, it wasn't worth the loss.
Inside the castle surrounded by vineyards within the manor, a breeze blew in through the window, stirring the pure white, thin gauze curtains.
"Sfenk, do you have a follow-up plan?"
The stocky Haunor spoke. He had been sitting here for nearly half an hour.
"Wait patiently."
Sfenk stood by the window, looking as if he intended to take a short nap after enjoying his afternoon tea.
"This..." Haunor hesitated, struggling for a long time before finally saying, "We don't have much time left, Sfenk."
"His time will be even tighter. Judging from Kukulin's previous actions, his mission time limit is at most half a month."
Sfenk looked out the window. After a moment, Haunor, the Machete-Wielding Man, and Molly all remained silent. They understood Sfenk's words, but they couldn't deduce the basis for them at all.
"Kukulin's mission is most likely four rings, with a small chance of three rings. The first ring: understanding the basic situation of this world. The fastest way is to reach Kir City; the contact from Reincarnation Paradise is there. The subsequent three rings are easier to deduce: the Dominator, the White Goat, and the Bestial Azathoth."
Hearing Sfenk's words, Haunor's eye twitched. If the enemy's mission was really like this, it meant they intended to kill their way through this world, slaughtering all the Ancient Gods.
"Do you think, why did Kukulin enter this world?"
Sfenk looked at Molly and the other two with a smile.
"To reclaim the Space-Time Power?"
"To kill all the Ancient Gods?"
"To purge the instability here."
The last sentence was said by Molly. She swore to the heavens that she was just saying it casually to avoid seeming out of place.
"Correct. To purge the instability of this world."
Sfenk glanced at Molly. Molly 'calmly' picked up her red tea cup and took a small sip.
'Molly, you'll be in charge of negotiations from now on.'
After Haunor sent this message to Molly, he discreetly tapped the wooden table with his index finger, as if thinking about something.
At this moment, Molly's mood was like being at home sleeping, then suddenly being dragged out and thrown into a cow pen, confused and smelling of cow dung.
"Kukulin is very strong, but he has too many enemies to deal with. So many that he didn't hesitate to actively step into your trap. Fortunately, you didn't go to Heru City to cause him trouble, otherwise, you wouldn't be sitting here."
Sfenk gently rubbed his brow. Seeing this, the little girl with the chubby face opened the door to see the guests out.
After Molly and the others left, the smile on Sfenk's face gradually faded.
"Connie, tell everyone in the manor to evacuate within ten minutes. Leave Aisenla and rendezvous with the White Goat."
"Huh?"
The little girl Connie was a bit surprised, but this was Sfenk's order, and she wouldn't disobey.
"Do we evacuate too?"
"Of course not. If we leave, in a few days, there won't be a single living person left in Aisenla."
Sfenk's expression was normal. Whether it was his habit or not, anything he picked up had to be put back in its original place.
This seemed like obsessive-compulsive disorder, but it wasn't. This guy had deduced Bubu Wang's ability from various events in Heru City. Although he couldn't be sure, Sfenk had already become vigilant. He had just released false information to confuse Bubu Wang, and through Bubu Wang, let Su Xiao obtain incorrect intelligence.
Though they had never met, the clash had already begun.
...
Inside the abandoned warehouse, Su Xiao pressed the wireless earpiece on his ear.
"Bubu, leave the Obsidian Manor. Sfenk might... have noticed you."
"Woof? (Dog face in disbelief)"
"Very normal. He observed us for too long in Heru City."
Su Xiao tossed the gold coin in his hand. Having lost the intelligence advantage, based on his judgment, Sfenk couldn't be completely certain of Bubu Wang's ability, so he was testing.
The reason Su Xiao was so decisive in having Bubu Wang withdraw was mainly to prevent Bubu Wang from dying in that manor. Sfenk's actions just now were both a test and a warning. Clearly, the other party was also unsure of the current situation, so he chose the safest method. This was a very steady old yinbi.
"Bubu, before leaving the manor, let Sfenk know you were there. Don't make the traces too obvious."
Su Xiao took off the wireless earpiece. Although he had lost the intelligence advantage provided by Bubu Wang, he still had other channels for obtaining information.
Beep, beep, beep~
The communicator in his pocket rang. Su Xiao pressed the projection device below the communicator, and a complete map of the Miracle Land of Aisenla appeared. On the map, over a dozen huge red dots were marked.
The hunt, begins.
