Chapter 16: Look Over There
Su Xiao shifted his gaze toward Elsa. Elsa halted her steps; without cover, turning her back to the enemy meant certain death.
"I hid 300,000 silver coins somewhere in Herlu City."
Elsa pulled off her hood, and beneath her clothes, fine cracks began spreading across her skin. She was preparing to take Su Xiao down with her.
Su Xiao stepped forward toward Elsa, but after only two paces, he stopped and tilted his head to look upward. This made Elsa's heart skip a beat—her time was running out.
"What are you looking at?"
Elsa's lips curled upward. In the night, she had a mysterious, alluring beauty.
Su Xiao ignored Elsa, as if something above had caught his attention.
"Look over there."
Su Xiao pointed at the slightly reddened full moon in the sky, which only deepened Elsa's confusion. Suddenly, a whistling sound came from behind her.
*Pfft~*
Claws pierced into the back of Elsa's neck. Baha, having swooped down behind her head, spread his wings wide and yanked hard, tearing out her spine.
The last thing Elsa saw was a flash of blade light, then darkness.
"Wizards really aren't right in the head."
A Realm Severing Thread shot out from Su Xiao's sleeve, wrapped around an Epic Chest, and pulled it back into his hand. As for what he had been looking at earlier—it was just a distraction to draw the enemy's attention and create an opening for Baha.
Though the wizards' abilities weren't flashy, they were extremely powerful and eerily unpredictable. Su Xiao had sensed a threat from both Moen Di and Moen Elsa; one careless move, and he could have capsized in a ditch.
Of course, as long as Su Xiao didn't show any openings, these three wizards had no chance of defeating him—just like now.
Su Xiao walked toward the east side of the block, where sounds of fighting were already coming from.

A figure slammed into a bell tower, sending a few pieces of rubble tumbling onto the street.

Moen Di shook his head and climbed to his feet, his face now covered in blood.
A figure over three meters tall stepped out from the shadows. Frosty mist rose from the horns on its head—it was Amu, who had long been lying in ambush nearby to ensure no one from the Moen family escaped.
Moen Di could reflect damage? Amu didn't care at all; he was least afraid of getting hit. Besides, most of Amu's attacks were blunt force, and the damage reduction from his Fierce Winter bloodline, combined with the internal defense of ice energy, meant he took far less damage than expected.
Su Xiao, Amu, Bubu Wang, and Baha surrounded Moen Di. Moen Di snorted contemptuously and lunged straight at Bubu Wang, thinking he looked the weakest.
Two minutes later, Moen Di was planted headfirst in a small alley. Moen Di was just unlucky—why pick a fight with the team's most protected member, Bubu Wang?
Thus, the Moen family's plan was crushed. They hadn't even laid eyes on Kaisa before being intercepted and killed.
In the alley, Moen Di was bound by chains made of ice. His ability was somewhat similar to Hidan from the Naruto World, but unlike Hidan, he wasn't immortal. However, his ability was more versatile—he didn't need the enemy's blood. Whoever hurt him would have the damage reflected back several times over.
"Kaisa, is—"
Before Moen Di could finish, Amu slammed a hammer into him, causing Amu to grunt as if an invisible fist had struck his chest.
"Two questions. Answer them, and you can die."
Su Xiao crouched in front of Moen Di, signaling Amu to stop.
"Hahaha..."
Moen Di let out a sinister laugh, blood dripping from his mouth as he looked up at Su Xiao. "Are you questioning the authority of the Moen family?"
Su Xiao took an Alchemy Raven from his storage space, activated it, tossed the Endless Darkness Collar to the raven, gave it a final command, then severed his mental link with it.
*Click~*
The Endless Darkness Collar locked around Moen Di's neck. As soon as it activated, Su Xiao crushed the Alchemy Raven.
*Bang!* The raven exploded, and a blood-formed array appeared, slowly evaporating into the air.
"Even if I die, I won't—"
The Endless Darkness Collar activated. The light in Moen Di's eyes faded, and his head thudded against the ground.
Five seconds later, Su Xiao removed the Endless Darkness Collar from Moen Di's neck.

Moen Di let out a strange scream. Seeing his expression, Bubu Wang's dog face fell—he knew it was over.

Su Xiao had heard the term "Old God" more than once. The Sad Girl was favored by the Old Gods, and the Honor Shop could exchange for the ashes of an Old God to summon one for battle.
From multiple clues, it seemed the Old Gods were on the side of humanity and Herlu City. They sacrificed themselves, letting the Blazing Sun burn them, to create Holy Silver that could absorb darkness.
Su Xiao felt that it was the appearance of Holy Silver that gave Hope's Light Nia a chance to fight against "them," even though Nia ultimately lost.
"Old God?"
Moen Di looked at Su Xiao with confusion.
"That's right, the Old God."
Su Xiao frowned, sensing something off about Moen Di.
"Old God! Old God! Ha, haha, hahaha..."
Moen Di writhed, and if not for the ice chains binding him, he might have started dancing awkwardly.

Exiting the alley, Su Xiao scanned his surroundings. The sounds of the fight had been loud, but no one from the Wizard Council had come. Clearly, the Wizard Council's management of Herlu City was lax—as long as nothing major happened, they wouldn't intervene.
Checking the notification from Reincarnation Paradise, killing three wizards had earned him a total of 4.2% World Source, and that was with the bonus from the Moen family member title. As for chests, he only got one: an Epic Chest (47%). The quantity was low, but the quality was decent.
With Amu's arrival, Su Xiao no longer felt short-handed, so he sent Bubu Wang back to keep an eye on the Moen family. The family members all lived inside the Wizard Council, so wiping them out directly wasn't feasible.
As long as the Moen family sent assassins after Kaisa, Su Xiao would intercept and kill them one by one—one assassin, one kill; a whole squad, a whole squad dead.
Besides, once Kaisa made a name for himself, he would use his status as a Wizard Council guest to sell potions inside the council. Su Xiao doubted the Moen family would dare to act within the Wizard Council.
Amu and Baha were assigned to guard Kaisa—a second layer of insurance.
Returning to the Sleepy House, Su Xiao sat beneath the chandelier and rolled up his right sleeve. After killing just three wizards, the "Darkness" had already spread nearly to his forearm. Fortunately, the Sad Girl could cleanse the "Darkness."
