Chapter 14: Protecting Our Own Personnel?

With Glass as the starting point, Kaiser's potion business reopened that same afternoon, with the Ice Soul Potion repriced.

The starting price was 500 silver coins. All wizards who had already purchased the potion could refer other friends to buy it. For each successful referral, Kaiser would refund 50 silver coins to the referrer. In other words, referring ten wizards meant getting a bottle of Ice Soul Potion for free.

It seemed very advantageous, but in reality, Kaiser, as the seller, ensured a minimum price of 450 silver coins per bottle while also attracting a large number of buyers.

This tactic was ineffective for a small group of wizards—those who were more solitary and silent. Fortunately, the Gray Wizards weren't too insane, so this method worked well on them.

On the second floor of the Sleeping House, Su Xiao sat cross-legged on the small bed in the Alchemy Laboratory, having just finished his daily meditation.

Notifications appeared one after another. Go clean out rats in the sewers? There was absolutely no need for that. A whole day of rat-clearing couldn't match the reputation gained from selling four bottles of potion.

Su Xiao glanced at the team channel. Amu had previously transmitted a string of garbled text, indicating that Amu was not far from Su Xiao and would arrive soon. As for Beini, that cat was off treasure-hunting across the world.

Beini often seemed to be slacking off, but in reality, its help to Su Xiao was significant. Every time they returned to Reincarnation Paradise, Beini was responsible for selling and purchasing items.

This saved Su Xiao a lot of time. The time saved could be used for fighting in the Arena or sparring with Sha, both excellent choices.

In Su Xiao's team, Bubu Wang's role needed no explanation—it was one of the pillars. Baha handled assassination and high-altitude reconnaissance. Amu was the tank, always the one beaten the worst in tough battles. Beini handled logistics for all team members.

...

Wizard Council, Ninth Floor, a somewhat dim room.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating rows of bookshelves. Judging by the dust on the books, no one had read them in a long time.

Around a round wooden table sat five figures draped in robes and hoods. At the center of the table was a bottle of ice-blue potion. The exquisite crystal vial instinctively made one feel the potion was valuable.

"I've tried it. The effect..."

A Gray Robe Wizard spoke. He was relatively thin, his arm occasionally waving in front of him as if swatting at flies.

"Shut up."

A low voice came from a Black Robe Wizard, whose shoulder twitched occasionally.

"Nicolas Kaiser? What a nonsensical name. Why isn't he called Moen Kaiser? He should be Moen Kaiser! He must be Moen Kaiser! Otherwise, I'll take off his socks and put them over your heads."

A White Robe Wizard spoke with a fierce tone, clearly somewhat mentally deranged.

"..."

"..."

The other four wizards were speechless. The one who had just spoken was Moendi, a Secret Art Wizard.

"How do we handle this? This potion far surpasses Death Soul Potion in every aspect."

"Eliminate him."

"Bribe him."

"Give him a bath."

A smirk curled beneath Moendi's black robe. He chuckled lowly, his face full of confidence for reasons unknown.

"Di, calm down. I'll get a bottle of Death Soul..."

The Gray Robe Wizard stopped mid-sentence, picked up the Ice Soul Potion on the table, and handed it to Moendi.

"I don't drink potions. I have no problems. I'm not crazy!"

Moendi's face twisted, his teeth grinding audibly.

"Let's eliminate Nicolas Kaiser. I can't think of... a better way."

The Gray Robe Wizard waved his hand in front of him again.

"Di, Del, Chris, you three handle this. Be discreet. Kaiser is still a member of the Wizard Council."

The Black Robe Wizard stood up and left. He was the highest authority of the Moen Family, Moen Alvers.

The Gray Robe Wizard, Moen Del, sighed softly. He was the wizard who had been mixing potions earlier, witnessed by Bubu Wang.

For Del, working with Moendi was always a torment.

Moendi tilted his head and suddenly fell silent, surprising the other three.

"Ah... Why did Elsa reject my marriage proposal?"

Moendi looked melancholic.

"Huh?"

The cold, beautiful female wizard Moen Chris was stunned.

"Di, Moen Elsa... is your grandmother."

Del covered his forehead with one hand, suddenly feeling that if he stayed in the Moen Family, Moendi would eventually get him killed.

"You're full of shit. Apologize to Elsa. She's only 19!"

Bang!

A hand reached out and slammed Moendi's head into the wooden table. A few seconds later, he lifted his head.

"Did I do something stupid again?"

Moendi wiped the wood chips off his face, his somewhat unfocused pupils regaining clarity.

"Welcome back, cousin."

Moen Elsa shook her bleeding hand. That was the price of attacking Moendi. Moendi wasn't the strongest fighter in the Moen Family, but his ability was nearly unstoppable. The best outcome was mutual destruction.

"Who are we killing this time?"

"Nicolas Kaiser."

"Time and place."

Moendi pulled off his hood, revealing a face covered in scars so dense that his original features were unrecognizable.

Under the window of the room, Bubu Wang picked up a camera, took a photo of Moendi, and annotated it: 'Psycho wizard with built-in damage reflection armor.'

Del, Elsa, and Moendi were all efficient wizards, so they left the Wizard Council directly and headed to the Underground Market to intercept Kaiser.

Nighttime in Heru City was quiet. The three changed into matching black robes and walked silently down the street.

An owl hooted lowly, and a somewhat reddish full moon hung at the edge of the sky.

"Di, we should have a plan."

Del waved his arm in front of him, his gaze fixed on a two-story stone house with lights still on.

"We..."

Moendi spoke calmly. Five minutes later, smiles appeared on the faces of Del and Elsa beside him. A clear-headed Di was very reliable, and killing with him gave a sense of security.

"Stop."

Moendi raised an arm, staring straight ahead.

In the night, a figure sat on the edge of a rooftop several dozen meters away. One leg was bent, resting on the eaves, while the other hung naturally down. One hand held a sheathed longsword, the hilt resting diagonally on his shoulder. In the other hand was a colorless crystal about the size of an apple.

Crack~

The crisp sound of biting was especially clear in the quiet night. Moendi frowned deeply, catching a faint smell of blood.

"Who are you!"

Del shouted.

Crack~

No response. The man sitting on the roof leisurely ate something.

"Elsa, pull out his soul."

Moendi tore off his black robe with a ripping sound, revealing an upper body that wasn't particularly muscular but was covered in scars.

Footsteps came from beside Moendi. He looked at his cousin Elsa, whose eyes were wide open as she slowly stepped back.

Pull out his soul? Don't be ridiculous. Su Xiao was currently eating a Soul Crystal. He had even faced off against the Moon God, who specialized in souls, and the Moon God couldn't pull out Su Xiao's soul.

Protect Kaiser? There was no need for such trouble. Su Xiao's choice was to directly intercept and kill the three wizards of the Moen Family. Kill these three wizards, and Kaiser would be safe. It was a simple logic.

Protecting others wasn't Su Xiao's forte, but killing—he was very good at it.

Tossing the last piece of Soul Crystal into his mouth and chewing it, Su Xiao stood up from the stone roof. Under the red moon behind him, he looked like a Sixth Rank Boss.
