Chapter 7: Hunters

After a hunter enters the Void or the Abyss, Reincarnation Paradise will shield the hunter's aura, wavelength, and other characteristics to ensure no native forces attack the hunter in the initial stage (this permission is free, and all contractors/hunters entering the Void or Abyss can enjoy this permission. After obtaining this permission, the hunter can be tracked but will not be sensed by areas outside the Abyss in terms of aura, fluctuations, etc.).

...

Seeing these prompts, Su Xiao gained some understanding of the Abyss. First, the Abyss is an ultra-free environment, and precisely because it's so damn free, Su Xiao could encounter any kind of enemy.

Second, he wouldn't be directly teleported into the Abyss; he first had to reach the Abyss's entrance. Another point was that storage space couldn't be opened within the Abyss; it would enter a sealed state.

Most importantly, if Su Xiao entered the Abyss, Reincarnation Paradise would help him shield perception from enemies outside the Abyss. If Su Xiao provoked enemies after entering the Abyss, that wasn't covered by this permission; the enemies could still track him by his aura. What Reincarnation Paradise shielded were enemies outside the Abyss, to prevent Su Xiao from being hunted by foes unrelated to his promotion assessment. From the literal meaning, this wasn't a privilege but a basic permission for all contractors.

But it was precisely this basic permission that made Su Xiao breathe a sigh of relief. He was a Law Destroyer, and if not for the necessity of entering the Abyss to advance to the Fifth Rank, he would minimize contact with the Void before reaching that rank.

After entering the Abyss, storage space couldn't be used, and Su Xiao wasn't sure if he would be in the same location as Bubu Wang, Amu, and Beini after teleportation. Therefore, he divided the 24 bottles of Recovery Potion into four portions: six for the human, the dog, the ox, and the cat each. Beini initially didn't want to waste this precious resource, confident in its self-preservation abilities, but Su Xiao didn't agree. The Abyss was extremely dangerous; even he might die, let alone the cat Beini.

A teleportation sensation washed over him. Perhaps because the distance was too great this time, Su Xiao was knocked unconscious by a "heavy blow" to the back of his head.

In a daze, Su Xiao felt something crawling onto his head. He abruptly sat up, grabbing the thing on his head with one hand, a scorching heat coming from his palm.

With a *smack*, Su Xiao flung a creature about the length of a forearm onto the ground. It was a lizard with an uneven body and magma-like patterns on its back.

The lizard shook its head, bared its full set of sharp teeth at Su Xiao, then vanished into a blur as it ran away. To think, Su Xiao had used full force just now, but this lizard was only a bit dazed from the fall.

Dragon-Slaying Flash and D·Assassination were both present. Due to its large size, Duke of Annihilation was being carried by Amu. Su Xiao checked the bundle behind him. Inside were ten Soul Crystals (Large), six bottles of Ancient Secret Medicine, twenty Black Maple Leaves, three pieces of Black Maple Tree bark, Life Flower, and Destiny Gold Ingot. One hundred bullets for D·Assassination were there, with ten Apollos at the bottom, along with some scattered miscellaneous items.

There were quite a few things, but none were large in volume. Items too inconvenient to carry were all in the storage space.

A sulfurous smell drifted into Su Xiao's nostrils. He looked into the distance, and the sight a kilometer away left him somewhat shocked. That towering structure—perhaps only in the Void could one witness it in person.

A massive goat's head stood a kilometer away, billowing black smoke rising. Within the Abyss, faint fiery red sparks could be seen. Eight iron chains, nearly a meter thick, were tied to the horns on either side of the goat's head building. The other ends of the chains shot straight into the sky, as if binding the entire world to this goat's head. This place was called Vanished City.

Su Xiao's current location was within the Void. This wasn't some world, but a place known as the Shattered Continent.

That goat's head building, Vanished City, wasn't the entrance to the Abyss. The fortress behind it was one of the Abyss's entrances, a place called Mamun Mord Fortress, a heavily guarded location by the Demon Race and also one of their cash cows.
