Chapter 40: Radiant Rings

Although the comprehensive attributes of Light Witch Morisha were explosively high, she could not manipulate Solar Flame, which relieved Su Xiao.

Clearly, Morisha borrowed the power of the sun through some artifact, but the ability she gained was not high temperature, but light-attributed sharpness and speed, without the capability to release Solar Flame on a large scale.

The previous Solar Flame was merely a byproduct of Morisha acquiring light power, not something she could control.

Inside the third floor of the castle, as air was drawn in through the window gaps, the oxygen level gradually increased, at least making breathing no longer a problem.

The floor and walls were scorched a blazing red, with faint sparks flickering. The walls on the third floor had melted into pools of lava, making the space appear quite empty. Compared to the orange-red firelight on the ground, the golden light radiating from Morisha was even more dazzling.

Holding an energy longsword, Morisha slowly descended the stairs, stopping about twenty meters away from Su Xiao. She was not a melee fighter, or rather, she was not one at this moment.

"Melody, I'll give you one last chance. Tell me where that thing is."

Morisha was still very concerned about the heirloom; otherwise, given her personality, Kay wouldn't have been able to keep Melody safe.

Melody glanced at Su Xiao, then at Morisha. Both were clearly formidable, so she made a very smart decision.

"I... donated that thing to the Holy Healing Church."

Melody looked at Morisha with a smile. Morisha maintained a gentle smile, but upon hearing Melody's words, the smile faded from her face.

"Since that's the case..."

"Moo!"

Before Morisha could finish, Amu, covered in wounds, let out a roar. As a high-level alchemical creature created by Su Xiao, Amu inherited Su Xiao's fine tradition of "if you can fight, don't waste words."

Holding his ice-blue warhammer, Amu charged headlong at Morisha. The ground beneath his feet first sparked with flames, then froze over with frost.

Amu had activated his charge skill, so his speed increased rapidly. Noticing this, Morisha held her golden energy longsword horizontally in front of her, golden light flickering in her eyes.

"Radiant Rings."

Morisha swung her energy longsword forward, and golden rings appeared around her, thirty in total. Each ring was about four meters in diameter, with extremely sharp edges.

As Morisha swung her sword, the thirty Radiant Rings flew forward. Due to their light attribute, these rings moved at incredible speed.

Each ring had a diameter of four meters; the combined effect of thirty rings was terrifying. What was even more troublesome was that Morisha seemed able to control the flight trajectory of these rings.

Crackle, crackle...

One after another, the Radiant Rings struck Amu. His arms were the first to suffer; almost instantly, four rings shattered, and the fifth cut into his chest.

Although the attack power of the first four rings was terrifying, Amu's defense was enough to withstand them.

With a tearing sound, the fifth ring slashed across Amu's chest. His forward momentum was broken, and he staggered back a few steps. A large amount of blood spurted from his chest, revealing the alchemical array within his chest cavity.

The sixth ring aimed for Amu's neck. These rings continued to accelerate in flight, eventually leaving afterimages.

Su Xiao's figure appeared in front of Amu, Cyan Steel Shadow Energy clinging to Dragon-Slaying Flash. He slashed at the incoming ring.

With a crisp sound, the ring burst into a large amount of light elements. Su Xiao grabbed Amu's shoulder and threw him toward the exit of the third floor. Bubu Wang appeared at the exit and dragged the severely injured Amu into the second floor.

Under normal circumstances, even if Morisha's strength was immense, she shouldn't have been able to nearly kill Amu in one exchange. Amu's Fierce Winter bloodline and ice armor greatly enhanced his survivability.

Unfortunately, the current Morisha was a main tank killer. Radiant Rings were one of her primary attack methods.

The lethality of Radiant Rings was already high, and their characteristics made their attack power even more terrifying. If hit by four consecutive rings, the fifth hit would have its lethality tripled due to light element overload in the body.

Assuming the attack power of a Radiant Ring was 5, tripling it would make it 15. But in actual combat, tripling the lethality was far from just 15; the real lethality could even exceed 50.

Not to mention other factors, just the tripled cutting power made subsequent attacks even more terrifying. This was why Su Xiao's side kick using Wood Spirit was so fierce.

Any tank facing Morisha would be instantly killed by Radiant Rings, even a top-tier fourth-rank main tank couldn't withstand it. To fight her, one must never try to tank her slashes head-on.

Amu retreated to the second floor, while Bubu Wang looked for opportunities nearby. The Hunter hid at the staircase between the second and third floors, ready to shoot a cold arrow. As for the remaining Life Priest, it was hiding on the second floor, recovering mana.

Although Amu could no longer fight, he could guard the second floor to prevent Su Xiao on the third floor from being flanked by outside witches.

Ding, ding, ding...

Dense light elements splattered everywhere as Su Xiao shattered the incoming Radiant Rings one by one. With his Absolute Magic Constitution, he naturally didn't worry about light element overload in his body after being hit. Even without Absolute Magic Constitution, Su Xiao, whose body was filled with Cyan Steel Shadow Energy, could expel light elements from his body.

Whoosh, a Radiant Ring flew past Su Xiao's side. He thrust his sword into the center of the ring, forcibly changing its flight direction toward Morisha.

Morisha raised her longsword horizontally, and the ring shattered in front of her, returning to her body as light elements.

"It seems the Holy Healing Church has developed some strange technology to cultivate a witch hunter with such a strong physique like you."

Morisha looked at Su Xiao with interest, then shook her head after a moment.

"Mortals are still mortals. Even if they are strong, they have limits."

Hearing Morisha's words, Su Xiao showed no reaction. Bubu Wang beside him rolled his eyes, as if to say, "I hope you can still say that when you're pinned down and slashed."

Radiant Rings floated around Morisha, reaching the maximum number she could generate. Any more would risk a light element explosion.

With these rings blocking the way, it was difficult for Su Xiao to get close to Morisha, at least until Dragon Shadow Flash's cooldown was up. As for Absolute Shadow Flash, he couldn't use that ability against Morisha unless it was a life-or-death moment. If one slash didn't kill, Su Xiao would be the one dead.

Morisha controlled three to five Radiant Rings at a time to attack Su Xiao. Su Xiao tried several times to break through, but the recoil from shattering the rings was not negligible. After several attempts, he found that he couldn't deal with Morisha in a short time.

Morisha frowned deeply. She was puzzled about one thing: why couldn't light elements invade Su Xiao's body? Even if her Radiant Rings were shattered by an enemy's weapon, the scattered light elements could still invade the body. This was the truly terrifying aspect of Radiant Rings. If more than four rings were shattered, one had to be careful; being hit by subsequent rings would be a bloody lesson.
