Chapter 30: The Terrifying Blade-Wielding Man
Su Xiao charged swiftly toward the crowd of Spider Lily members, his target being several control-type contractors standing in a row.
He had already simulated the order of elimination in his mind.
First, kill all these control-types, then the healers, after eliminating the healers, clear out the ranged firepower, and finally deal with the melee fighters.
But was the Spider Lily Adventure Group really that easy to approach? Of course not.
After taking a few steps, Su Xiao suddenly felt the ground beneath him surge.
Boom.
A stone pillar burst out from under his feet, causing Su Xiao to stumble slightly—terrain changes during high-speed running were deadly.
Mid-air, Su Xiao thrust Dragon-Slaying Flash into the stone pillar, shifting his entire body's center of gravity onto the blade.
With a flick of the longsword, he slid through the air for a short distance before regaining his balance.
Still gliding mid-air, Su Xiao immediately sensed a mass of black mist sinking into his chest.
[You have been affected by 'Bewitching Mind' effect. Intelligence attribute check in progress... Check passed. You have immunity to this control.]
Su Xiao's eyes cleared, and his feet hit the ground.
Crack, crack, crack.
A thin layer of ice formed on Su Xiao's body surface, once again restricting his movement.
Crack.
The thin ice shattered, and Su Xiao forcibly broke free the moment he was bound.
After dodging or breaking free from three control skills in succession, the control effects didn't end.
A golden energy spear shot straight into Su Xiao's chest. The spear was incredibly fast, but being an energy construct, it didn't harm him.
[You have been affected by the binding effect of Sacred Spear. You will be immobilized for 2 seconds.]
[Strength attribute check in progress... Check passed. You have immunity to this control.]
Snap, the golden spear shattered.
The Spider Lily Adventure Group had over fifty members, several of whom possessed control skills, so the barrage of control effects didn't stop there.
An energy net descended toward Su Xiao. He crouched low, executing a side roll mid-run to evade it.
A total of five control skills—combined, they could restrain Su Xiao for less than a second at most.
Dense bullets swept across his path, occasionally interspersed with a spell.
Su Xiao dodged what he could, blocked with Dragon-Slaying Flash when necessary, and simply tanked the hits with his body when there was no other option.
After taking two bullets and one spell, Su Xiao closed within ten meters of the Spider Lily group.
The women of Spider Lily stared in disbelief. How could this guy not be controlled?
At the center of the formation, a petite healer was on the verge of tears. She had just seen the icy glare in Su Xiao's eyes.
"Why is it always me who gets hurt? I'm just here to heal and save lives—I shouldn't be the one getting beaten up."
The small healer, dressed in a white gown, exuded a youthful and radiant vibe. Her various buff auras always made her a prime target, so her common weakness was a bit of timidity.
"Sisters, stop him quickly! He's about to reach us!"
The little healer's voice was trembling with tears. She recalled the revolver-wielding man from before—this blade-wielding man seemed even more terrifying.
"Wind's Breath."
Cold Moon tapped her staff against the ground, and a swirl of cyan-green wind spread outward.
The gust felt vibrant and full of life, but its force was immense, pushing Su Xiao back two staggering steps.
No check appeared, indicating this skill was a physical-type control.
He drove Dragon-Slaying Flash into the ground, but his body still slowly slid backward.
The wind dissipated, leaving behind a flurry of cyan-green particles in the air. These particles didn't fade; instead, they clung to the Spider Lily members, gradually forming a set of cyan-green half-body armor.
Su Xiao charged forward again, a hail of bullets and skills flying toward him.
Faced with this overwhelming assault, Su Xiao gritted his teeth, swung Dragon-Slaying Flash to deflect a few bullets, and weaved through the gaps between projectiles and spells.
Pfft.
A bullet lodged into Su Xiao's shoulder, but he pressed on as if he hadn't noticed.
"You're not getting past."
A female contractor wielding a heavy shield blocked Su Xiao's path. The shield had a high-tech feel, likely a piece of advanced equipment.
Hum.
A force field spread from the shield, and Su Xiao felt a noticeable weight on his shoulder.
He couldn't go around—the area was sealed off. To continue his advance, he had to deal with the tank in front of him.
Pale blue arcs of electricity surged across Dragon-Slaying Flash's surface. Azure Steel Shadow activated—its true damage was highly effective against contractors, who generally had low health pools.
Su Xiao braced himself, his arm muscles slightly bulging. Gripping the blade with both hands, he let out a furious roar and swung at the heavy shield.
Behind the shield, the female contractor stood at least 1.9 meters tall, with a build rivaling a man's—a true tomboy.
Seeing Su Xiao raise his blade, she smirked coldly. If she could hold him off, her sisters would focus fire and take him down in under five seconds. She just needed to stall.
The longsword tore through the air with a terrifying howl, leaving a blue trail as it struck the shield.
Clang.
The two-meter-tall heavy shield was cleaved diagonally in two by Su Xiao's single slash. The tomboy stared in utter shock.
Dragon-Slaying Flash's base attack power was already high, and Supreme Blade's effect 1 added a full 4 points of sharpness.
Calling it "sharp enough to cut through iron like mud" was no exaggeration—hence the terrifying one-slash shield break.
Su Xiao didn't stop. He raised his blade for a second strike. Time was life now.
An orange-yellow energy shell formed around the tomboy's body.
She breathed a sigh of relief. This was a skill from a blue-quality pendant, capable of blocking three attacks—as long as those attacks weren't too devastating.
Even if he could break a shield in one slash, he couldn't shatter this shell with a single blow.
The blade fell. The tomboy heard a crack, and the shell around her shattered into a shower of orange-yellow fragments.
Though Su Xiao couldn't break the shell in one slash, each of his attacks carried multiple damage checks.
Base slash damage + Blade Mastery bonus + Azure Steel Shadow's true damage from energy collision, and so on.
The shell broke apart like a fragile eggshell, and the tomboy let out a terrified scream.
"Candy, heal me!"
The petite healer in the crowd was dumbfounded. The tomboy wasn't even injured—how was she supposed to heal her?
Still, Candy raised her staff, ready to throw a heal on the tomboy.
After two slashes to break through the defense, Su Xiao delivered the third.
Pfft!
Blood sprayed as the tomboy was cleaved in two from the shoulder down. The Spider Lily main tank was one-shot!
Candy stood frozen, staff in hand, her skill not even cast before her teammate died.
Witnessing their main tank fall, the women of Spider Lily were engulfed by a wave of fear.
The revolver man before had taken five shots to kill their tank. This guy was even more insane—three slashes, including breaking the shield and defense.
'Watch out for his true damage. Every attack...'
The tomboy left that message in the team channel before dying—her final contribution to the group.
After killing the Spider Lily main tank, Su Xiao immediately leaped to the side. From start to finish, he had taken less than two seconds, yet even so, he barely avoided being focus-fired.
He was facing too many enemies, but he showed no fear—only a cold calculation of how to eliminate them all.
