Chapter 73: Impure World Reincarnation
Inside a somewhat dim room.
“Sigh~”
A woman’s sigh came through.
“Sigh~”
Another sigh followed.
Karin lay limply on the bed, one hand resting on her forehead, the other shielding her face.
Karin was hesitating. Should she run? Or should she run? If she failed to escape, it seemed she would die.
Recently, Karin’s mood had been terrible. Or rather, ever since she and Sasuke joined the Akatsuki, Karin had been unlucky. When capturing the Eight-Tails, she was nearly killed by it, then abandoned by Sasuke. After barely surviving, she became Su Xiao’s mobile ‘recovery item.’
That bite Su Xiao took out of her when he was heavily injured scared Karin out of her wits. When her life force was being absorbed, she had the illusion that she could die at any moment.
Not only that, Karin felt the atmosphere within the Akatsuki growing more and more wrong. Ever since a certain snake joined the organization, the atmosphere had become increasingly terrifying.
Karin once thought of herself as a rogue ninja, a villain among ninjas. But after joining the Akatsuki, she suddenly realized that compared to what these people were doing, she was practically naive and innocent. These guys wanted to go to war with the Five Great Ninja Villages—were they insane?
Karin had a vague feeling that even Sasuke, who had already plunged into darkness, was just being used by those people. It had been like that from start to finish.
“It seems… I can’t escape.”
Karin sighed in resignation, stood up with effort, and walked out of the room.
A ninja wrapped entirely in bandages walked toward her. Karin thought it was Sasuke at first, but upon closer inspection, it wasn’t.
“A… dead person?”
Karin was clearly taken aback, then she thought of something.
The bandage-wrapped ninja glanced at Karin. She stepped back two paces, leaning against the wall to make way. She recognized who it was—the Second Tsuchikage, Mu.
Mu walked out of the base. Soon, another figure approached.
“Yo, young lady ninja.”
This ninja had blond hair and a small mustache on his chin. He looked to be around thirty to forty years old. Though not young, he was quite handsome.
“You are?”
Karin knew this was a ninja resurrected by the Impure World Reincarnation, a very strong one. But she didn’t recognize who he was.
“How is the current Kirigakure? What’s the relationship between the major families of the Land of Water and Kirigakure? Are the current Seven Swordsmen of the Mist famous? Which generation is the Mizukage now? Who is the current Mizukage?”
A barrage of questions left Karin dumbfounded. After hesitating for a moment, she answered them one by one.
“What the hell! The Hozuki Clan was wiped out? The Seven Swordsmen of the Mist are scattered? The Fifth Mizukage just died recently?? Terumi Mei? I’ve never even heard of that woman.”
This ninja clearly couldn’t accept the current situation.
“The younger generation is really disappointing.”
The middle-aged ninja walked out of the base.
Karin tentatively asked, “Excuse me… who are you?”
“Me?” The middle-aged ninja pointed at himself, a smile appearing on his face. “My name when I was alive was Hozuki Gengetsu.”
Hozuki Gengetsu walked away. Karin stared at his back in confusion, feeling that the name sounded familiar.
“Hozuki Gengetsu…”
Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Karin. She remembered who Hozuki Gengetsu was—the Second Mizukage.
Just as Karin was completely bewildered, two burly men walked past her. Karin gulped. She recognized these two—the Third Raikage and the Fourth Raikage!
When Karin reached the depths of the base, she saw Su Xiao, Obito, Kabuto Yakushi, and others discussing something.
“Woof.”
Bubu Wang barked at Kabuto. Kabuto held his forehead with one hand, a helpless expression on his face.
“Hidan isn’t dead yet, so I can’t reincarnate him.”
Clearly, Bubu Wang wanted Kabuto to reincarnate his buddy Hidan, but unfortunately, Hidan was still alive.
Bubu Wang gave Kabuto a Wang-style look of contempt, the meaning clear: I’ll give you a look; figure it out yourself.
Kabuto’s mouth twitched. He knew the relationship between Bubu Wang and Su Xiao.
“How is it? Any leads?”
Su Xiao suddenly spoke. He had commissioned Kabuto to help him find that outsider, with the price being some data on the original Hashirama Cells. Kabuto had only studied ordinary Hashirama Cells before. Though he knew about the original Hashirama Cells, he had never obtained them. With such a price, Kabuto naturally wouldn’t refuse.
Therefore, Kabuto reincarnated over two hundred sensory-type ninjas and, using the abilities of the White Zetsu, distributed these sensory ninjas across the ninja world.
Not only these two hundred sensory ninjas, but the search team also included others, such as the Second Tsuchikage Mu, who excelled at stealth and perception, Hyuga Hizashi from the Hyuga Clan—Neji’s father—as well as Kato Dan, who was skilled in the Spirit Transformation Technique, Nakai from Kirigakure, a famous sensory ninja, and Aburame Torune from the Aburame Clan of Konoha.
Besides these summoned dead, the White Zetsu also sent a large number of clones to search for that outsider. It was a net cast in all directions.
Kabuto’s medical skills far surpassed most ninjas, so the fracture in Su Xiao’s left arm had fully healed.
The matter with Konan was settled. Sasuke and the Black and White Zetsu were returning with the Rinnegan. Of course, Sasuke couldn’t touch the Rinnegan; it was kept by Black Zetsu.
Somewhat unexpectedly, Deidara had been ‘blown to death’—killed by an endless sea of explosive tags.
In Black Zetsu’s words, Deidara’s death was suspicious. He wasn’t sure whether the explosive tags detonated first or Deidara’s clay bombs exploded first.
Moreover, after the explosion, White Zetsu vaguely sensed that Deidara’s chakra was still there, but it quickly disappeared. The battlefield at the time was near a river.
According to Black and White Zetsu’s speculation, there was a more than seventy percent chance that Deidara was not dead.
Upon hearing this news, Obito directly abandoned Deidara. He had already understood Deidara’s intentions before. If he pressed the matter now, the two sides might become hostile.
Obito had once gone to Iwagakure to save Deidara once. Deidara had risked his life to fight a great battle with Konan. Logically and emotionally, neither owed the other anything.
Interestingly, Sasuke had actually captured Konan alive. After extracting information from her through genjutsu, he didn’t kill her.
Obito was very dissatisfied upon hearing this news. He had already ‘cultivated’ Sasuke quite well, but at this critical moment, Sasuke had started to show mercy.
“According to the current arrangements, we can start the war in seven days. By then, the Five Great Ninja Villages won’t have finished assembling.”
In front of Kabuto was a chessboard with several pieces placed on it. Each piece represented a strong individual he had reincarnated.
“Seven days… that should be enough.”
Su Xiao planned to find that outsider within seven days. Once the Ninja World War began, the entire ninja world would be thrown into chaos. In such a turbulent situation, it would be very difficult for Su Xiao to find the outsider.
Now that the war hadn’t started yet, Su Xiao had requisitioned the Akatsuki’s intelligence network solely to find that outsider.
Su Xiao held a portrait in his hand, drawn by the White Zetsu. After a long search, the White Zetsu had finally clearly seen the outsider’s appearance.
The outsider was a human, not a void race as Su Xiao had guessed.
