Chapter 23: Shocking Waves
"The Uchiha clan has an ancient stone tablet passed down through generations, still existing underground in Konoha. It records the secrets left by the Sage of Six Paths. Without the Uchiha clan's dojutsu, one cannot read that tablet at all. Depending on the order of the Sharingan, Mangekyo Sharingan, and Rinnegan, the amount of content that can be deciphered increases progressively."
Obito began narrating his plan, but was interrupted by the Tsuchikage right from the start.
"This story is truly bizarre. Now the Sage of Six Paths is being brought up."
"The Sage of Six Paths does exist..."
Obito didn't care whether the four Kage believed him or not.
"The Sage of Six Paths once saved the world from a certain monster. As for that monster, you've all seen a part of it—the tailed beasts. In the Sage of Six Paths' era, there was only one tailed beast, the Ten-Tails."
"The Ten-Tails? This is getting more and more absurd."
Mei Terumi also seemed unable to accept Obito's words.
"What you now know as the One-Tail through Nine-Tails are merely the dispersed forms of the Ten-Tails, split apart by the Sage of Six Paths. To save the world, the Sage of Six Paths developed a ninjutsu that is still secretly passed down today—the jinchuriki sealing system. That's right, the Sage of Six Paths was once the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails.
To suppress the Ten-Tails, he sealed it within his own body. But the Sage of Six Paths knew that although he was called a god, he would one day die. After his death, the Ten-Tails would once again wreak havoc on the world. So, before his death, he used his remaining power to split the Ten-Tails' chakra into nine parts, scattering them across the land. These are the nine tailed beasts we have today.
Although the Ten-Tails' chakra was dispersed, its shell remained. So the Sage of Six Paths sent it into the heavens, beyond human reach, where it became the moon."
Obito's tone was calm, while the four Kage listened with some speechlessness. It seemed like Obito was spouting nonsense. However, the truth was close to this—the Ten-Tails did exist.
"Having said this, you should all understand my purpose in capturing the tailed beasts. That's right, I intend to revive the Ten-Tails and become its jinchuriki, thereby strengthening my dojutsu and casting a certain jutsu."
Obito had essentially laid out his general plan. This was his real plan. It was unclear what Obito was thinking, announcing his plan publicly before the war. Could it be that becoming a villain had lowered his intelligence?
That wasn't the case. Obito wanted to gather the ninja of the Five Great Villages. Casting the Moon's Eye required a massive amount of chakra. Even with the Ten-Tails' boost, his chakra reserves were still insufficient. Madara had told him this back then. As for how Madara knew this information, that went back to the Uchiha clan's stone tablet. Madara had awakened the Rinnegan and learned all the tablet's secrets.
"A certain jutsu? What do you plan to do?"
The Tsuchikage always managed to grasp the key points of information.
"To project my dojutsu onto the moon, thereby casting a grand genjutsu—Infinite Tsukuyomi. I will place all the world's people under genjutsu, using it to control all of humanity, merging the world into one, creating a world without barriers or conflict. This is the Moon's Eye Plan."
In truth, Obito had one more thing he didn't say: to create a world where Rin Nohara was still alive.
There weren't many people like Obito, who would involve the entire world over a longing for a deceased first love.
After hearing Obito's plan, the same thought appeared in the minds of the four Kage: either this guy was delusional, or he was someone intent on ruling the world.
Considering the Akatsuki's past actions, the latter seemed more likely.
"Utterly absurd. Making everyone live in a genjutsu—how is that any different from death?"
"Living in such a world is meaningless. No hope, no freedom."
"So-called merging the world into one is just wanting to turn the world into your own possession, isn't it?"
The four Kage's stance was clear: they would oppose Obito to the end.
"Heh."
Obito let out a cold laugh. He had already anticipated this reaction.
"So, are you all prepared to hand over the remaining two tailed beasts?"
"Two?"
The Tsuchikage was taken aback, then seemed to realize something.
"Isn't the Eight-Tails already in your hands?"
"No, it escaped. I must say, the Eight-Tails' jinchuriki is quite perfect."
"The Raikage... died because of a wrong piece of intelligence."
Gaara sighed. If it weren't for his younger brother being captured, the Raikage wouldn't have pursued Sasuke, encountered Su Xiao, and ultimately been killed in battle.
"Impossible."
"Don't even think about capturing the other two jinchuriki."
The four Kage refused outright.
"Very well. Then the Fourth Great Ninja War... is hereby declared!"
Obito's tone remained calm. At that moment, Su Xiao received a notification from Reincarnation Paradise.
[Notification: The Hunter has participated in the declaration process of the Fourth Great Ninja War.]
[Checking the Hunter's faction...]
[Current Faction: Declaring Side.]
[Calculating the Hunter's contribution to this event...]
[Calculation complete. The Hunter's contribution to this event is: 18.2%.]
[As the Fourth Great Ninja War is a major turning point in the Naruto World, this event is classified as an S-Class Event.]
[Contribution points being collected... Upon collection, the Hunter will receive corresponding rewards.]
[Notification: The Hunter may choose one of the following rewards. If no choice is made within 30 seconds, a random selection will be made.]
A. Increase the completion rate of the achievement mission 'Sky-Snatching Shocking Waves' by 15%. Current completion rate: 30%.
B. Title: War Lord (Note: Title-type equipment can only be obtained from story event rewards or arena rewards.)
C. 1 True Attribute Point.
These three rewards made it difficult for Su Xiao to choose. 'Sky-Snatching Shocking Waves' was a major mission; only by killing the story's protagonist could he increase its completion rate.
As for the title, Su Xiao had previously obtained the Arena Champion title, which was useful for increasing attributes.
Reward C, the 1 True Attribute Point, was also tempting. The main mission only offered 2 True Attribute Points as a reward. Reward C was equivalent to half the main mission's reward.
Time was limited. After hesitating for a moment, Su Xiao chose Reward A.
The achievement mission 'Sky-Snatching Shocking Waves' must have generous rewards. This was a mission he had been working on for many worlds, from Rank 1 to Rank 3, and he had only achieved 30% completion. The story's protagonist was simply too difficult to kill, especially the children of fate type. Killing that kind of protagonist required more than just the combat power to do so; mishandling it could result in backlash from the derivative world and pursuit by numerous story characters.
Su Xiao had once received a mission in the One Piece World called 'The Strangling of a Legend.' The content was simple: kill the young Luffy. The difficulty was Lv.79.
Back then, Su Xiao didn't understand what Lv.79 difficulty represented. Now, he had a general idea of its meaning. After killing the young Luffy, he would not only face pursuit from Garp and Monkey D. Dragon but also suffer backlash from the One Piece World, a large, open world.
Of course, not all protagonists were world children. For example, Kaneki Ken from the Tokyo Ghoul World or Eren Yeager from the Attack on Titan World—while they were protagonists, they weren't legitimate world children.
Luffy was definitely a world child. If Su Xiao killed that world's 'favorite son,' would that world let him off? It would be an invincible, enhanced version of Final Destination. Being struck by lightning would be an everyday occurrence. Facing a large, open world, a mission difficulty of Lv.79 was normal.
To date, Su Xiao hadn't heard of any contractor surviving after killing a world child. However, this might be related to his rank being only Rank 3.
Su Xiao had once heard about something from Shana: a Rank 4 contractor used a special tool to enter the Bleach World, at a time when Ichigo Kurosaki was still a child.
That contractor didn't dare kill Ichigo directly. He used his ability to poison Ichigo. The result was that Ichigo was poisoned to death, dropping a chest of unknown quality.
Just as that contractor was gleefully preparing to pick up the chest, he was crushed to death by a meteorite falling from the sky, a full 28,000 meters in diameter, almost entirely composed of ultra-hard metal.
Therefore, until Su Xiao's strength reached a certain level, he would temporarily avoid directly killing world children. Of course, this didn't mean he couldn't kill them. If a story character killed a world child, there would be no backlash. It just meant Su Xiao wouldn't gain completion for the 'Sky-Snatching Shocking Waves' mission.
