# Chapter 1: The Avenger

Nighttime, a bustling second-tier city tinged with restlessness.

The streets were filled with traffic, the start of nightlife causing many young people to escape their stuffy rooms, squandering time freely.

Su Xiao crouched on the roof of a two-story villa. The night wind blew, bringing him a sense of coolness.

Su Xiao wore black clothes and a wide black hood, concealing his figure in the darkness of the rooftop.

This outfit, in the sweltering summer, even at night, would make one feel stuffy.

But compared to his unfortunate experiences, this was nothing. He had been waiting here for two hours.

At Su Xiao's current age, he should have been spending wonderful times in university, but because of hatred, he had given up his studies three years ago and began learning other knowledge.

Human anatomy, combat, quick lock-picking, and other knowledge.

The long wait began...

Two hours later, a black luxury car slowly drove into the villa courtyard. The muffled engine sound died out, the car door opened, and a middle-aged man with a drunken air stepped out of the luxury car.

Due to excessive drinking, the middle-aged man's steps were noticeably unsteady.

Su Xiao, on the villa roof, picked up a long blade beside him. The blade slid out of its sheath, the body pitch black, making it hard to detect with the help of the night.

Leaping down from the five-meter-high roof, Su Xiao's agile arm caught a protruding edge on the villa mid-air, slowing his descent.

Landing steadily, Su Xiao landed directly in front of his enemy.

Without any unnecessary words, the long blade in Su Xiao's hand cut through the air, letting out a whimpering sound before slashing open the enemy's throat in one stroke.

Blood gushed out. Although Su Xiao tried his best to dodge, his sleeve and the back of his hand were still stained with blood.

The already drunk enemy, before understanding what had happened, fell backward.

This kind of injury was no different from death, so Su Xiao immediately ran toward a sparsely populated area.

Out of the corner of his eye, Su Xiao spotted a security guard in uniform.

Although he was in the act of committing murder, being witnessed on the spot didn't matter; he had hidden his appearance well.

But in the next moment, Su Xiao felt his hair stand on end. That security guard actually pulled a gun from his waist—a dark pistol with a long barrel, clearly equipped with a silencer.

How could a security guard have a gun? Su Xiao had no time to think it through carefully.

Behind him was a villa at least a dozen meters wide, and the security guard was about twenty meters away. If he chose to flee, his back would be completely exposed to the enemy, making him a sitting duck.

When facing danger, Su Xiao's first reaction was to eliminate the source of the danger, never to flee.

Charging forward, Su Xiao ran in an S-shaped pattern, trying as much as possible to avoid being shot.

"Puff, puff, puff..."

The pistol equipped with a silencer only made faint gunshot sounds.

Su Xiao had only run about five meters when he felt his calf go numb, followed by the same sensation in his chest.

Su Xiao knew he had been shot. Although he was an avenger, he had never been shot before.

A feeling of weakness spread through his body. Su Xiao felt no fear, only a bit of unwillingness.

His revenge was not yet complete, and he had already fallen, killed by an unknown enemy. What a pathetic thing this was.

Using his last bit of strength, Su Xiao threw the long blade in his hand.

This throw was basically leaving it to fate, but it seemed heaven sensed Su Xiao's unwillingness and his unfair circumstances. The long blade spun rapidly in the air several times before miraculously piercing the chest of the gun-wielding security guard.

Su Xiao, collapsed on the ground, showed a smile on his face.

He had coated that long blade with neurotoxins, and a mixed type at that. The stabbed security guard was surely dead.

His consciousness began to blur. Su Xiao felt a heavy blow to his head, and then everything went pitch black.

In his last remaining consciousness, Su Xiao vaguely heard:

"Hunter, 'Reincarnation Paradise' opens for you."

---

[Body transmitting...]

[10%, 50%, 100%, transmission complete. Detected that the hunter's body has sustained extensive damage, pending repair...]

[Hunter's consciousness not yet awakened, repair command delayed. Now maintaining minimum survival state, maintenance time ten minutes...]

[Beep... Found that the hunter's talent is a growth talent, survival time extended by two hours.]

In a pitch-black void, several rows of light blue text floated in mid-air, emitting a faint glow.

Below the light blue text, Su Xiao lay covered in blood in the emptiness.

His fingers twitched, and Su Xiao slowly woke up.

After waking, Su Xiao was first a bit dazed, but upon recalling the dark gun muzzle, he immediately tried to stand up.

Sharp pain hit him, nearly causing Su Xiao to faint again.

Struggling to sit up, Su Xiao scanned his surroundings. Aside from a few lines of blue-glowing text, everything around was pitch black.

[Hunter, welcome to 'Reincarnation Paradise'.]

A line of text appeared out of thin air before Su Xiao, but he didn't look at that line of text. Instead, he began to check his physical injuries.

His calf was pierced through, the wound with flesh turned outward, fingers could easily probe inside.

At this bloody scene, Su Xiao only furrowed his brow, showing no other reaction.

He had experienced scenes ten times more brutal than this, so this couldn't move him.

The wound on his chest was even more severe, but whether it was the calf or the chest wound, neither was bleeding anymore.

"I'm not dead?"

Pressing his hand to his chest, Su Xiao felt his heart beating powerfully.

[Hunter, you are not dead. Are you willing to join 'Reincarnation Paradise'? Here you can have everything you desire.]

Su Xiao had long noticed those suspicious texts, but out of caution toward the unknown, he ignored them.

The current situation was somewhat bizarre. He had suffered fatal injuries but had miraculously survived, and before him was a row of blood-red numbers counting down.

[1:35:10], [1:35:9]...

One hour, thirty-five minutes, and nine seconds. If Su Xiao guessed correctly, that was what the numbers meant, and they were continuously counting down.

This blood-red number gave Su Xiao an ominous feeling, as if when it reached zero, he would lose his life.

[Hunter, please communicate with the 'Paradise' as soon as possible to sign a contract, otherwise you will die in '1 hour 35 minutes'.]

Sure enough, those numbers represented how much longer he could survive. Su Xiao had suspected this before; his injuries were too severe, and he should have died long ago.

"Where is my blade?"

Su Xiao didn't care about any 'contract' or 'Paradise' but instead demanded his blade from the other party.

That blade was the only memento his parents had left him. It was said to be an officer's blade his great-grandfather had captured, passed down to his generation.

[Real-world items cannot be brought into the 'Paradise'. Please sign the contract as soon as possible.]

Su Xiao remained silent. The light blue text flickered, as if it had never encountered a 'hunter' like Su Xiao before.

"Contract? Tell me about it. What do I need to give, and what can I get?"

The gradually decreasing survival time gave Su Xiao no time to delay, and he felt he might have encountered some 'supernatural' event, which stirred some emotion within him.

Su Xiao desperately needed power to take revenge, and 'supernatural' events, while accompanied by great risk, could also grant extraordinary power.

[By signing the contract, you will travel through various 'derivative planes' to complete tasks issued by 'Reincarnation Paradise', obtain 'World Source', and ultimately use the amount of 'World Source' to determine the richness of rewards.]

['Reincarnation Paradise' is omnipotent.]

...

A large amount of text appeared, and Su Xiao read it carefully.

"Omnipotent? Can it resurrect the deceased?"

All the light blue text suddenly stopped in mid-air, then completely faded away.

[Given your identity as a hunter, no.]
