Chapter 2243: The List
Bai Yu’s body slowly rose into the air, landing once again atop the mountain peak. Her beautiful eyes swept over the surrounding crowd as she spoke slowly: “I have decided. In the Imperial City, I will select a few people besides myself to accompany me to the Ten Thousand Demon King’s Sacred Domain.”
As Bai Yu’s words fell, the pupils of several young men opposite her contracted slightly. One of them laughed and said, “So, Miss Bai agrees to let us accompany you.”
Bai Yu’s gaze slowly turned to Lin Feng. “He will be one of those accompanying us. As for the other five, I already have candidates in mind. If you believe you can defeat them, I will allow you to join us.”
The crowd’s eyes locked onto Lin Feng, cold glints sweeping over him. A martial artist at the Martial Emperor Realm, and Bai Yu had chosen him? Bai Yu was highly renowned in the Imperial City; she wouldn’t act arbitrarily. Since she had selected Lin Feng, there must be a reason she acknowledged him—likely a recognition of his combat prowess. However, those young men were all prominent figures from the eight Demon Emperor Cities. In their hearts, they naturally couldn’t believe that Lin Feng, at the Martial Emperor Realm, was stronger than them. Even though Lin Feng had just killed many Great Emperor Realm experts, including a Heavenly Emperor, that was mostly due to an ancient treasure—an Imperial Weapon—he had used to achieve it.
“Who are the other five?” They didn’t immediately target Lin Feng; instead, someone asked.
“Azure Sea Roc.” Bai Yu spoke the name calmly, and the crowd’s expressions stiffened, their faces turning ugly. Azure Sea Roc—Bai Yu had chosen him. If they had to face that guy, they truly had no right to compete. Even just in speed, Azure Sea Roc could completely outclass them; a single soar would leave them far behind, unable to catch up.
“Who else?”
“Heze Python.” Bai Yu uttered another name, causing the young men’s faces to gradually turn ashen. One of them spoke: “Miss Bai, you’re not planning to invite all those freaks to join us, are you? That might not necessarily benefit your journey.”
The others took a deep breath upon hearing the second name. Heze Python—that was an absolutely terrifying monster. Its poison could kill powerful Heavenly Emperor Realm beings. At the Great Emperor Realm, it was a pinnacle existence. Moreover, Heze Python was said to be an ancient monster that had lived for many years—dangerous and venomous. Few dared to approach it, not even the Heavenly Demon Emperors. Clearly, no one had expected Miss Bai to choose such a creature.
“Three more,” another young man asked. Was Bai Yu insane?
“Dark Gold Pupil King, Purple Void Flood Dragon, and Tino’s Sword.”
Bai Yu slowly announced the other three names. Both humans and demons around them held their breath, their hearts shaken. No wonder Miss Bai looked down on these young men who had come. These youths were already geniuses in their own right, terrifying existences in the eight Demon Emperor Cities. Yet, if they faced any one of the five Miss Bai had named, they would appear pitifully weak. Any one of those five descending would be enough to sweep them all away.
Azure Sea Roc, Heze Python, Dark Gold Pupil King, Purple Void Flood Dragon, Tino’s Sword—these five names were rarely mentioned anymore because, in the eight Demon Emperor Cities, they no longer needed other topics to highlight their strength. Azure Sea Roc was the descendant of a fully mature Azure Bird and a Roc, unmatched in speed and explosively violent in attack. Heze Python, many years ago, had poisoned and killed many old Heavenly Emperor Realm demon monsters, earning the deep fear of all demons. Few dared to provoke it, and that old monster now rarely appeared, likely breaking through to a higher realm.
Dark Gold Pupil King was the descendant of a Dark Gold Roc and a Black Pupil King, with terrifying talent to the extreme. Inheriting the fearsome traits of both demon species, it was a mutated demon king body.
Purple Void Flood Dragon was not a pure flood dragon. Rumor had it that in its youth, it had stolen the essence blood of a fully mature Purple Void Dragon King, granting it supreme power. Its body contained true Dragon King blood, which it could utilize. No one dared to compete with it in attack power, and its defense was nearly invincible at the same realm.
Finally, Tino’s Sword was perhaps the most ordinary existence, yet also the most extraordinary. No one knew what his true form was. Tino’s Sword was a demon cultivator, but he had gone to the human world to study swordsmanship, comprehending it for a hundred years. Now, his sword art was said to have reached a peak state, its terror immeasurable. With a single sword strike, he had slain a flood dragon of the same realm—that terrifying Dragon Emperor had no resistance under his blade. From then on, the name Tino’s Sword shook the Demon Emperor City.
Miss Bai, as a descendant of the White Emperor, was also highly renowned. But compared to these five, she seemed somewhat lacking in weight. Inviting these five to travel together was an extremely dangerous move. Any one of them was too terrifying.
Because of these five names, the young men standing on the mountain peak almost lost their edge, their hearts frustrated. Bai Yu had named such figures, leaving them powerless.
Even Lin Feng, standing to the side, could gauge the strength of those five just from the crowd’s reaction.
Bai Yu said that any one of them could instantly kill the young men before her. That meant their combat power stood at the pinnacle of the Great Emperor Realm, capable of killing even ordinary Heavenly Emperor beings. The danger of such people was unimaginable. This Miss Bai was far from as simple as she appeared; otherwise, she wouldn’t dare to travel with such characters.
“If Miss Bai invites those five to go, I admit I’m no match. But this person is a human cultivator, and at the Martial Emperor Realm. What qualifies him to travel with Miss Bai?” At that moment, a young man in a cyan long robe spoke calmly. His name was Qing Yi, and he was the strongest among the youths Bai Yu had mentioned. His true form was a Cyan Bird, of the same lineage as Azure Sea Roc. Yet his strength was firmly suppressed by Azure Sea Roc. With Azure Sea Roc around, it seemed he could only ever be a foil. But in truth, Qing Yi’s strength was also formidable.
“If you’re dissatisfied, you can fight him. If you win, you can take his place,” Bai Yu said calmly, causing Qing Yi’s eyes to narrow. From Bai Yu’s words, it seemed she judged Lin Feng’s strength to be greater than Qing Yi’s. Yet Qing Yi was, after all, a young genius among the Demon Emperors. With Lin Feng at the Martial Emperor Realm, it was hard to imagine how he could defeat Qing Yi.
“Of course, I don’t think the two of you need to fight. Because besides the seven of us, I also need two substitutes. On the journey into the Ten Thousand Demon King’s Sacred Domain, unexpected changes may occur at any time. So, I hope to have companions. Qing Yi, you are also on my list.” Bai Yu said calmly. But being a substitute, Qing Yi felt no honor. His status seemed even lower than that of a Martial Emperor Realm cultivator.
Still, Qing Yi replied coldly, “In that case, it’s truly an honor.”
Bai Yu naturally heard the hostility in Qing Yi’s tone but didn’t mind. She continued, “Since you agree, let’s prepare to set out.”
“Where to?” Qing Yi asked.
“To find those five,” Bai Yu said.
“Has Miss Bai already found out where they are?” Qing Yi showed a hint of surprise. Even he, of the same lineage as Azure Sea Roc, didn’t know where that one was now. The other four were even more mysterious and elusive—how could they be easily found?
“Naturally.” Yet Bai Yu answered very affirmatively.
“Miss Bai, isn’t there one more spot?” At this point, the other young men grew uneasy. They had come to ask Bai Yu to hand over certain things, but now they seemed forgotten. After Bai Yu mentioned those names, these geniuses had become irrelevant.
“The last one is my maidservant,” Bai Yu said, glancing at them lightly.
The crowd’s expressions stiffened. They didn’t get a single spot.
“Then I’d like to see Miss Bai’s judgment,” a young man said, his gaze suddenly locking onto Lin Feng with cold intensity. His eyes were terrifying, and violent demonic aura rolled forth. His entire body seemed to transform into a terrifying black mist, surging toward Lin Feng. His hand turned pitch-black as it slammed down from the sky, as if trying to crush the heavens. The power was astonishing—the entire sky was filled with black palms, pressing down on the void.
Lin Feng, however, directly ignored the crushing force descending from the sky. He stepped forward abruptly, charging straight at the opponent’s true form. Death Brand frantically surged into the enemy’s body.
“Get down!” The young man’s face twisted into a terrifying demon visage. An overwhelming gravitational force crushed Lin Feng’s body, the Dao might immense. But Lin Feng endured it with his physical body, moving like lightning. He thrust his palm forward, sending Death Dao and countless Death Brands all rushing at the opponent.
“You’re asking for death!” The man roared, his palms blasting out violently. At the same time, the endless attacks from above crushed down, trapping the space into a cage, trying to suppress and kill Lin Feng alive. Around them, the area had turned into a dark world of death.
Sword might and supreme fist light exploded violently. With a thunderous crash, the black palms shattered. Lin Feng roared at the void, and countless void lightning swords shot out, tearing open large holes. A Death Creation Holy Spirit struck out, slamming into the opponent. Instantly, it frantically devoured the enemy’s life force, turning his face deathly pale. He roared, transforming from human form back to his true body—a terrifying Black Bull King.
The power from above pressed down, hitting Lin Feng. But Lin Feng’s body had already reached the opponent. He punched out fiercely, the violent collision sending the massive Black Bull King flying. Large amounts of red liquid dripped down from the sky, shocking to behold.
“Such violent power! The explosive attack is too terrifying!” The crowd’s hearts shook. This human cultivator’s attacks were even more violent than those of a demon!
