Chapter 161: Human Hearts

This sudden earth-shaking roar interrupted the ongoing auction. Everyone's gaze turned toward Lin Feng.

The crowd in the auction house furrowed their brows slightly. What was going on? It was coming from the VIP area. Who would cause trouble there?

Many people had followed Lin Feng here. Seeing that his punch had shattered the stone table on the pavilion, they couldn't help but narrow their eyes. This guy was not someone to be trifled with. He was quite audacious. Not only had he caused a scene at the fighting pits, but here in the auction house, he showed no restraint either.

The most surprised people were those beside Lin Feng. The young girl covered her face, then moved her hand away to see the stone table reduced to powder. Her eyes trembled, and she didn't know what to feel in her heart.

Someone had actually smashed the auction house for her, without any hesitation.

The auction house staff were also startled by Lin Feng's action. When Lin Feng told him to repeat himself, he had barely finished speaking when the explosive sound rang out, making his heart skip a beat.

Staring intently at Lin Feng, his eyes narrowed, a cold glint flashing within them.

But Lin Feng didn't care about his gaze at all. He said coldly, "I brought the Crimson Flame Demon Lion here to auction, making me your honored guest. Yet this is how your auction house humiliates an honored guest?"

"Crimson Flame Demon Lion!" The crowd's eyes focused. So he was the one who had led the Crimson Flame Demon Lion in earlier, and he intended to auction it.

Many who didn't know the situation felt a stir in their hearts. The Crimson Flame Demon Lion held considerable appeal for them.

But they were all curious. Logically, since Lin Feng was auctioning the Crimson Flame Demon Lion, it was normal for him to be treated as an honored guest. So why was he being humiliated?

"He is also your guest. I never provoked him; he was the one who offended me first. Without distinguishing right from wrong, just to appease his anger, you wanted to hand over my companion to go and apologize to him, to let him cool down. You didn't even bother to ask for my opinion. Instead, you glared at me with hostility. Is this how your auction house treats me? Where am I supposed to put my face? Do you think I absolutely need your auction house to sell my Crimson Flame Demon Lion?"

Lin Feng questioned, then stood up and said, "If that's the case, I'll take back my auction item. I can't afford to be your honored guest."

Everyone clearly heard Lin Feng's words. They looked at the young girl beside him and the cold, fierce young man not far behind, instantly understanding the whole story. It was the Young Master Meng. No wonder the auction house staff didn't want to offend him.

But that staff member had acted improperly. Showing such disrespect to Lin Feng—how could Lin Feng not be angry? This behavior was an insult to Lin Feng, a slap in his face. Anyone would be furious.

The auction house staff member's face stiffened, his eyes flickering uncertainly. This bastard...

He hadn't known that Lin Feng's auction item was the Crimson Flame Demon Lion, nor had he expected Lin Feng to react so violently, blowing the matter out of proportion. Now, with Lin Feng holding the moral high ground, he had no way to defend himself.

Just then, a figure flashed over and appeared in the VIP area. It was the old man Lin Feng had seen in the backstage.

"Apologies. Our staff mishandled this matter." The old man showed a hint of apology to Lin Feng.

"Apologies? Is a simple apology enough?" Lin Feng said coldly.

A cold glint flashed in the old man's eyes, and his body turned into a blur.

"Slap!" A clear sound rang out, and then the crowd saw a figure sent flying by the old man's slap. It was the same person who had coldly stared at Lin Feng and demanded the young girl go serve Young Master Meng.

"Useless waste." The old man said coldly. This guy hadn't learned any other skills, but he had a pair of dog eyes. Although Young Master Meng's status was noble, Lin Feng was still an honored guest of the auction house. To treat Lin Feng like this in front of everyone—where was Lin Feng supposed to put his face? How could Lin Feng not be angry? Stirring up trouble like this only meant the auction house had to clean up the mess. This guy really didn't use his brain.

The man got up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and his face was ugly. He glanced at Lin Feng, wishing he could kill him, but at this moment, he didn't dare say a word.

"Apologize." The old man barked coldly. The man's expression stiffened again, but seeing the old man's icy gaze, his heart trembled, and he said to Lin Feng, "I'm sorry."

"You thought your eyes were so sharp, but in the end, you're just a pair of dog eyes."

Lin Feng could clearly hear the venom in the other's tone and sneered sarcastically, "Get him out of here."

"Did you hear that? Get lost." The old man scolded. A fire of rage burned in the man's chest. He shot a venomous look at Lin Feng, then turned and left. His dejected state now was a stark contrast to his earlier arrogance.

Seeing him leave, the old man showed Lin Feng an apologetic smile and said, "Is this handling to your satisfaction?"

Lin Feng glanced at the old man, then pointed to the young girl beside him and said, "She was humiliated because of me, insulted by an animal. I'm asking your auction house for her. You won't refuse, will you?"

"Of course. From now on, she belongs to you." The old man glanced at the young girl and said indifferently. This girl was lucky to have met Lin Feng. The auction house wasn't short of such maidservants. Giving her to Lin Feng was no big deal; they would just need to train someone else to replace her.

Lin Feng nodded slightly, somewhat satisfied, and said, "Finally, since I'm in the VIP area, I hope the VIP area lives up to its name. Not every animal should be allowed in."

As Lin Feng's words fell, the eyes of Young Master Meng behind him narrowed sharply. Lin Feng had insulted him as an animal more than once.

The old man hesitated for a moment upon hearing Lin Feng's words, then looked at the young man and said, "Young Master Meng, this is the auction house. I hope you can show us some face and not cause trouble here. After the auction ends, once you leave the auction house, if you want to cause trouble, we won't interfere—and naturally, we can't."

The young man's eyes were especially gloomy. He nodded coldly, his gaze fixed on Lin Feng, a hint of cold light in his eyes. Once they left the auction house, Lin Feng's life and death would be in his hands. Let him live a little longer.

"Thank you for understanding, Young Master Meng." The old man said flatly, then announced loudly, "I hope everyone else will also abide by the auction house's rules. Enough talk. The auction continues."

With that, the old man gave Lin Feng one last look, then flashed away and left.

Lin Feng watched the disappearing figure, sneering inwardly. How could he not hear the implication in the old man's words? He was clearly hinting to Young Master Meng that once the auction was over, he could deal with Lin Feng freely. Obviously, Lin Feng's disturbance in the auction house had displeased the old man, but bound by the auction house's rules, he had to quell the conflict.

But once outside the auction house, what could Young Master Meng do to him?

"Young Master, thank you."

The young girl beside Lin Feng looked at him, her eyes filled with deep gratitude. She understood perfectly that Lin Feng had asked for her from the old man because he knew that if she remained with the auction house, her fate would be tragic.

Lin Feng had saved her from the fire pit.

"It was just a convenience. No need to thank me." Lin Feng said indifferently.

But the young girl shook her head, disagreeing with Lin Feng's words. This young man in the silver mask was no simple person.

He seemed arrogant, but he was thoughtful. That fierce strike that shattered the stone table was clearly meant to draw attention and blow the matter out of proportion, forcing the auction house to intervene.

But the young girl wouldn't overthink it. She only felt gratitude toward Lin Feng. No matter what, Lin Feng had done this for her, offending both the noble young man and the auction house. Otherwise, Lin Feng could have simply ignored her, letting her be sent to that young man to be humiliated.

Before, the auction house had only treated her as a slave, a tool. If not for her beauty, she wouldn't even have had any value in being used. She had never received any respect.

But Lin Feng had treated her like this, doing so much for her. From now on, she belonged to Lin Feng, loyal and devoted, heart and soul.

This was something Lin Feng himself hadn't expected. What he had done was only to follow his own conscience.

The young girl had offended that noble young man because of him. Lin Feng couldn't just stand by and watch such a beautiful woman fall into the other's hands and suffer inhuman humiliation.
