Chapter 126: Mengqing's Pain
However, Mengqing's gaze quickly shifted away from Liu Fei. She cast a calm look at Lin Feng, then turned around and closed the door to the small room.
Mengqing's reaction left Lin Feng smiling bitterly. From her indifferent eyes, he could not discern what she was thinking at all. He could not fathom Mengqing's thoughts.
"Lin Feng... you bastard."
Liu Fei bit her lower lip lightly, a hint of grievance flashing in her eyes. She shot Lin Feng a resentful glance before walking out of the stone chamber.
"..."
Lin Feng's forehead was covered in black lines, his mind full of questions. The resentful look Liu Fei had just given him left him utterly puzzled. Wasn't this woman always bickering with him? Why would she look at him like that? Could it be that she had developed feelings for him?
Unable to figure it out, Lin Feng could only smile wryly. No wonder people said a woman's heart was like a needle at the bottom of the sea.
Lin Feng, of course, could not understand Liu Fei's thoughts. For Liu Fei, when her father Liu Canglan entrusted her to Lin Feng, she had already understood her father's intention. Liu Canglan was handing her over to Lin Feng completely.
With her father Liu Canglan's fate unknown, the only person Liu Fei could rely on was Lin Feng. Although she had once had misunderstandings and conflicts with Lin Feng, his subsequent actions and the shock he brought her had long since resolved all of that. Especially on the day the Cloud Sea Sect was annihilated, Lin Feng's figure had been etched into Liu Fei's mind.
At the very least, Liu Fei already had favorable feelings toward Lin Feng. That was why she was willing to accept her father's arrangement and follow Lin Feng out. In her subconscious, a very subtle connection had formed between her and Lin Feng, so she did not mind going to Lin Feng's place to rest.
But the first thing Liu Fei saw when she entered the door was a woman—elegant and exceptionally beautiful. It was a blow to her already fragile heart, and she could not bear it, rushing out the door.
"Brother Lin Feng, are you going to comfort the one inside first, or chase after the one outside?"
Yuan Shan, standing outside the stone chamber, stammered a question, causing Lin Feng's forehead to fill with black lines again.
"I'll go after Liu Fei first," Lin Feng muttered to himself. Liu Fei was still far from recovering from the matter of Liu Canglan, and her mood was unstable. Lin Feng was genuinely a bit worried about her.
With a step, Lin Feng leaped down from the air and headed toward Liu Fei's figure. The woman seemed genuinely angry, walking out of the ancient castle without a word.
Lin Feng quickly caught up, reaching Liu Fei just outside the castle.
"What are you following me for?"
Liu Fei glared at Lin Feng, who was beside her, her gaze icy cold, making Lin Feng sense a hint of jealousy.
A strange feeling arose in Lin Feng's heart. Having lived two lives, he had never been in love, nor had he ever experienced the feeling of romance. But at this moment, a subtle sensation seemed to stir within him.
Without answering, Lin Feng simply kept pace with Liu Fei, walking steadily.
"I'm asking you a question."
Liu Fei glared at Lin Feng, clearly annoyed.
Lin Feng's eyes fixed on Liu Fei, his gaze flickering, making Liu Fei pause. What was this guy staring at?
"You... couldn't it be that you've fallen for me?"
Lin Feng scratched his head and said weakly.
Liu Fei stumbled, nearly falling. Regaining her composure, she stared at Lin Feng without blinking, then burst into loud laughter.
"Fallen for you? You must be dreaming."
Liu Fei replied coldly, turning and walking away, quickening her pace. Her heart, however, began to pound, its rhythm accelerating.
Liu Fei had never felt this way before.
"Is that so?"
Lin Feng's eyes flickered. Had he been overthinking things?
"Liu Fei, stop right there."
Lin Feng suddenly shouted at Liu Fei's back, causing her steps to falter and come to an involuntary halt.
"Don't forget what you promised Uncle Liu. Turn around."
Lin Feng said bluntly.
Liu Fei did turn around, gritting her teeth as she glared at Lin Feng. This bastard was using her father to pressure her again.
Just then, Lin Feng strode over to her, grabbed her arm, and said, "Come back with me."
Pulled along by Lin Feng's strong grip, Liu Fei struggled slightly but couldn't break free, so she gave up, glaring fiercely at Lin Feng. This bastard dared to use force on her...
"If I'm not tough, you'll think I'm easy to push around."
Feeling Liu Fei's submission, Lin Feng secretly felt pleased. So this was how you handle women—by being a bit domineering.
Of course, it depended on who you were dealing with. If he tried to be domineering with Mengqing, he'd probably get slapped flying. That woman couldn't be judged by normal standards.
Before long, Yuan Shan, Duan Feng, and the others watched as Lin Feng directly dragged Liu Fei back, and Liu Fei obediently didn't struggle. They all stared wide-eyed, filled with admiration for Lin Feng. What a tough guy.
"The stone chamber I'm staying in has several rooms. You can pick one to stay in. If you don't want to, you can stay next to Jingyun," Lin Feng said, releasing Liu Fei's hand.
"Who would want to stay in your bastard's room?"
Liu Fei glared fiercely at Lin Feng, then strode directly toward the stone chamber next to Jingyun's, making Lin Feng breathe a sigh of relief. At least he had managed to calm her down.
Uncle Liu had asked him to take care of her. It seemed life was going to be interesting from now on.
Shaking his head, Lin Feng stepped into his own stone chamber.
Arriving at Mengqing's door, Lin Feng knocked gently.
There was a moment of silence inside, then Mengqing's voice came through: "I want to rest. You should go and keep her company."
"Uh..."
Lin Feng smiled bitterly. Could it be that the ethereal, otherworldly Mengqing was also jealous?
But Lin Feng wasn't sure. Mengqing always gave off a cold, indifferent vibe, like a pure, flawless iceberg. You could never tell what she was thinking.
"I said I want to rest. Go."
A sharp voice came from the room, making Lin Feng's eyes narrow.
What's going on? What's wrong with Mengqing?
Although Mengqing had always been cold in the past, her tone had never changed—always very calm. But now, she seemed agitated and angry.
"Mengqing..." Lin Feng tried to speak, but Mengqing cut him off directly, shouting, "Go!"
Something's wrong!
Lin Feng's eyes flickered. Something was definitely off.
Without hesitation, Lin Feng pushed on the door, but found it wouldn't open. It was locked from the inside.
With a sudden burst of force, the door creaked open, and Lin Feng stepped inside.
In an instant, he felt a bone-chilling cold rush toward him, as if it would freeze his entire body.
This cold was terrifying.
Even more frightening was that the entire room was filled with this intense, piercing chill.
A layer of frost seemed to hang in the air, bitterly cold.
Lin Feng's pupils contracted sharply. He scanned the room, and finally, his gaze landed on the simple bed.
There, Mengqing's body was leaning against the bed, but what shocked Lin Feng was that she was curled up, trembling uncontrollably, covered in a layer of frost.
Her soft, beautiful hair had been turned silver by the white frost.
"What's happening?"
Lin Feng's heart jolted violently. Mengqing looked up at him, but perhaps because of the extreme cold, her trembling lips could not form any words.
"Mengqing, what... what's wrong with you?"
Lin Feng strode forward, reaching the bedside. At that moment, an overwhelming chill seemed to freeze his body solid.
It was too cold, and this cold was emanating from Mengqing's body.
"Go away. Don't come near me."
Mengqing's curled body shifted backward, trembling as she spoke.
Lin Feng's heart clenched painfully. He remembered the cold that had seeped from the room when he first entered the stone chamber. It was clearly this same chill.
At that time, Mengqing had already fallen into this state of extreme cold, but she had pretended everything was fine, walked out of the room, and sealed the cold within.
Mengqing didn't want him to know.
With a step, Lin Feng moved to the edge of the bed. A layer of frost immediately crept up his body, covering him just like Mengqing, making him shiver from the cold.
But Lin Feng's body leaned forward, his gaze unwavering and resolute!
