Chapter 786: The Biggest Trap in History — Dug by Ian
On the surface of the New World, over a thousand nautical miles from the Red Line, a massive fleet was sailing.
These hundred or so pirate ships, large and small, all flew various ferocious black pirate flags. However, what truly made all nearby vessels in the surrounding waters tremble and steer clear was the dozens of large ships at the front of the fleet, bearing the flag of the Beast Pirates.
Among these ships, there were also some vessels flying the flags of the Donquixote Pirates and the Blackbeard Pirates.
Interestingly, though, the original three side-by-side skulls on the Blackbeard Pirates' flag had now become two! Ian would probably laugh out loud if he saw this flag...
Although there were ships from the Donquixote Pirates and the Blackbeard Pirates, only the senior officers of those two crews were aboard them. Doflamingo and Blackbeard Teach themselves were on Kaido's flagship of the Beast Pirates.
That was the most enormous, oversized pirate ship in the entire fleet. The figurehead of this super-large vessel was eight dragon heads lined up in different poses!
This was Kaido's personal flagship, the Great Serpent!
Kaido's body was too massive; without such a large ship, it would be hard to accommodate his travels. At that moment, Kaido sat in a large chair on the deck, holding a gourd of sake, gulping it down into his mouth.
When he saw the dark silhouette of the Red Line standing on the horizon, Doflamingo, who had been crouching on the ship's railing, finally couldn't help but burst into wild laughter: "Fufufufu! Look, we're almost there!"
"Zehahaha!" Teach also grinned, showing his gap-toothed mouth, spreading his arms to reveal his hairy chest, and staring at the Red Line as he said, "I told you, when I come back, I'll make the whole world tremble!"
"Kill!" Jack the Drought's blood-red eyes widened as he growled, "This is the great war the boss wants!"
One of the Three Calamities, Plague Calamity Queen, was a man with wild golden hair. Strangely, though, the pupils in his eyes were double pupils! In each eye, two round pupils were pressed close together, making his gaze seem extraordinarily eerie. It seemed Plague Calamity Queen was also from a rare race in the New World.
At that moment, Plague Calamity Queen's eyes gleamed with excitement. He licked his lips and raised a telescope, scanning the sea near the Red Line ahead. After looking for a while, he said with some confusion, "Strange! Why aren't there any Marine warships?"
Teach grinned, took the telescope from him, and said, "Let me see!"
However, after looking for a long time, Teach also found no Marine warships or flags. He did see some ships with the flags of the World Economy News Agency in the distance, but those ships, though gathered near the Red Line, didn't dare approach too closely. They just stayed far out on the sea. Teach lost interest after a while.
"It seems the Marines really haven't mobilized..." Teach scratched his head and said, "Could it be they haven't noticed our arrival yet?"
"How is that possible?" Doflamingo snorted disdainfully. "With a fleet as huge as ours, even a blind man could see it. If the Marines haven't come out to intercept, could they be gathering at headquarters to defend?"
"That might be possible. After all, that bastard Akainu was just taken out, and I haven't heard who's taken over as Fleet Admiral yet..." Teach pondered for a moment and said, "So, it makes sense that they're a bit slow to react..."
Jack the Drought glared and said, "Isn't that even better? Our real target is Mary Geoise. Without their interference, we can just charge straight up!"
"The side of the Red Line facing the New World has downward currents..." Teach scratched his armpit, then sniffed the sweat on his hand, and said, "To get up there, we'll have to abandon the ships first. Maybe the Marines want us to do that. They might have set up heavy troops on the climbing path!"
"No problem. If that's the case, that old man Shiki will help us clear out those ambushes!" Doflamingo said. "Those giant animals he bred using plant IQ are no weaker than Sea Kings. They'll definitely give the Marines and the World Government nightmares!"
Kaido, who had been drinking all along, suddenly wiped his mouth and said to Doflamingo, "Joker, is Uranus really in Mary Geoise?"
"Of course!" Doflamingo laughed loudly. "Those damned Celestial Dragons are so cowardly and afraid of death. For their last trump card, they naturally want to keep it close at hand to feel safe. As long as we can capture Mary Geoise, no matter how well they've hidden it, I'll find a way to dig it out!"
"Good. I don't want to have come all this way for nothing!" Kaido snorted, two streams of hot air shooting from his nostrils. "If I've mobilized all my forces and still can't get the national treasure, I'll personally twist your head off!"
"Don't worry, boss!" Doflamingo said with a nervous, fawning smile.
But just then, Teach suddenly asked with some doubt, "Hey, do you think this time the Celestial Dragons might think the Marines aren't strong enough and use Uranus to help them?"
Hearing Teach's idea, Doflamingo laughed even more wildly and said, "Absolutely impossible! Have you forgotten? They can't activate that device!"
As he spoke, Doflamingo took out a transparent diamond-shaped crystal from his person and showed it to everyone on the ship, saying, "See this? This identity chip has always been in my hands. The one the Celestial Dragons have is just a fake I had that brat Ian return to them through his hands. It was copied based on the identity chip from my Donquixote family. The Celestial Dragons still haven't realized they've got a fake!"
Doflamingo said smugly, "This is the technological crystallization of the Skypieans from eight hundred years ago. Back then, to prevent betrayal, the twenty families of the Celestial Dragons each held one of these chips. Only when all twenty chips are gathered can the 'Guide' device be activated to awaken the sleeping Uranus! Without any one of them, this is impossible!"
"So, the fake you sent out back then can't be verified unless the Guide device is activated once, right?" Teach asked.
"Exactly!" Doflamingo nodded proudly. "The funny thing is, that Ian back then was a fool. He had no idea how valuable the identity chip he brought out of Mary Geoise really was! That's how clueless brats with no background are—even if they know it's a treasure mountain, they'll just toss it away... But getting this chip from him still took a lot of effort!"
As he said this, Doflamingo recalled how Ian had driven him out of Dressrosa, and he couldn't help grinding his teeth in anger. "It's just a pity that I was a bit too hasty back then. Once I got the chip, I was eager to get revenge on that brat. But that kid really holds a grudge! He brought Jinbe and Boa Hancock and the other Warlords to hunt down the Germa Group and exposed my business in Dressrosa! I was forced to abandon the country and flee Dressrosa..."
"If I still had my Warlord status, why would I need to go through all this trouble to attack Mary Geoise?" Doflamingo said bitterly. "With the Warlord identity, I could have scouted out the device's location, then killed all the Celestial Dragons to get the chips, and directly activated the device..."
"It's not too late now!" Teach grinned widely. "If you hadn't escaped, how would we have such powerful 'friends'!?"
"Fufufufu, that's right!" Doflamingo also laughed.
But even as they said this, both of them sneered inwardly.
To hell with your friends! Once we get all the identity chips, the first ones I'll kill are you 'friends'...
And so, a group of ambitious schemers, each with their own hidden agendas, temporarily banded together, pretending to be friendly.
But little did Doflamingo know, the biggest trap Ian had ever set was about to explode at this very moment...
In the live broadcasts being filmed by many reporters with Video Den Den Mushi, just as the massive fleet of the Beast Pirates was about to approach the Red Line, suddenly, all the broadcast screens went dark!
What's going on!? Everyone couldn't help but look up at the sky, only to see an incredibly huge object blocking the sunlight at that moment, casting a sky-covering, sun-obscuring shadow over the vast sea for over a thousand nautical miles...
Taking Leave
Can't hold on anymore. I can't support it. Today, a friend who works in another city came back for the New Year holiday. We gathered and had some drinks. I didn't feel like I drank much, but now my head is splitting. I'm taking a leave. Don't wait for me tonight.
"Super Card System" Taking Leave is being typed. Please wait a moment.
