Chapter 540: The Tame-Tame Fruit User
“Marine Vice Admiral?” Enel looked at the shoulder insignia of Momousagi, asking with some confusion, “Who are you?”
Having followed Ian, Enel had learned how to recognize Marine ranks, but after having already clashed with Kizaru, he was a bit puzzled to see that the reinforcements the Marines had sent were only a Vice Admiral.
He had originally thought another Admiral might show up…
“I am Gion. You can call me Vice Admiral Momousagi!” Momousagi said with a smile. “You seem quite confident!”
“Hahaha!” Enel laughed loudly. “Who do you think I am? I am God Enel!”
With Ian not around, his chuunibyou tendencies flared up again. “You Marines shouldn’t have come. Kneel down and beg, and maybe I’ll spare your lives!”
However, Momousagi replied nonchalantly, “I can’t agree with that. Logia users who think they’re invincible always die the fastest!”
As she finished speaking, the Marine soldiers on the warship surged out, surrounding Enel with guns, swords, and blades.
“You’re going to deal with me with this trash?” Enel sneered disdainfully.
“Then… what about Seastone bullets?” Vice Admiral Momousagi said, waving her hand. The Marine soldiers surrounding Enel immediately opened fire.
The moment he heard “Seastone bullets,” Enel’s heart skipped a beat. As the soldiers fired, he instantly teleported away from the ship’s railing, not daring to rely on his elemental body to withstand the attack.
However, when he reappeared at another spot on the deck, a fragrant breeze suddenly swept in. Momousagi was already swinging her famous sword, Konpira, down at him.
Enel dodged desperately, but Momousagi’s swordsmanship was exceptionally refined. After a few evasions, she managed to slash Enel across the abdomen. Her blade was coated in Haki, so the strike directly injured his real body, leaving a long red gash that began to bleed.
Enel winced in pain, finding Armament Haki utterly infuriating. In his anger, he flung out a 30-million-volt Thunderbird. The bird spread its wings wide and lunged at Momousagi with its massive beak.
Facing this astonishing attack, Momousagi calmly raised her right hand, just as before, catching the Thunderbird with the back of her hand.
This time, Enel finally saw it clearly. A faint pink glow emanated from her outstretched right hand. The moment the Thunderbird touched that pink light, its form shrank, reverting into a ball of lightning that rested on the back of her hand. It flickered, growing smaller and smaller until it vanished…
“What kind of ability is that!?” Enel was nearly going crazy. He felt that lately, aside from his fight with Kizaru, he kept running into people who could neutralize his lightning!
“Hehe, guess!” Momousagi smiled but didn’t answer. Instead, she continued swinging her blade at Enel.
Enel tried to teleport again to escape her attack range, but as soon as he reappeared, a sword slash flew toward his position.
At that moment, it finally clicked for Enel, and he wanted to slap himself.
Momousagi couldn’t keep up with his teleportation speed, but the problem was that he was fighting her on the warship. Although Marine warships were huge, the deck space for standing wasn’t that wide. Compared to fighting on land, Enel’s teleportation range was severely limited! And he couldn’t move out over the sea, or he’d fall into the water!
Knowing Enel’s range of movement, Momousagi could more easily track his position with Observation Haki.
Honestly, after fighting various powerful opponents, Enel’s belief in his own invincibility was waning. In battle, strength wasn’t the only deciding factor; the battlefield environment and the opponent’s ability counters were also crucial to winning.
Now, facing Momousagi, he felt constrained. He still hadn’t figured out her Devil Fruit ability.
After dodging another slash, Momousagi pressed forward again. Enel ducked and weaved under her blade, but he was cut once more.
No good! I can’t keep tangling with this weird woman!
Thinking this, Enel’s gaze shifted to the nearby warships on the sea, planning to teleport to one of them.
Surely those ships wouldn’t have someone like this weird woman. Once he jumped over, the Marine soldiers there couldn’t stop him, and even if this woman tried to catch up, she couldn’t match his speed. He could fight a guerrilla battle with her.
But just as Enel was about to activate his ability and teleport, Momousagi seemed to read his mind. She suddenly raised her right hand!
The two wounds where her blade had cut him began to glow with a faint pink light.
Enel was already mid-teleport when, suddenly, he felt as if he had lost all his strength. He fell from mid-air!
Splash! Enel plunged into the sea!
The moment he hit the water, Enel was still dazed. He could feel that his Goro Goro no Mi ability was still there, but it had suddenly become unresponsive!
As the seawater rushed in, he felt his strength draining away. He couldn’t float in the ocean. Panicking, he desperately tried to breathe, but he kept choking on seawater, flailing like a drowning man.
“Fish him out!” Momousagi sheathed her sword and ordered the Marine soldiers.
Soon, Marines who could swim jumped into the sea and rescued Enel. Of course, by the time they pulled him up, he was already cuffed with Seastone handcuffs.
“Cough, cough!” After being hauled up, Enel knelt on the deck, coughing violently. He looked utterly pathetic—drenched from head to toe, and even his turban had fallen off when he fell, revealing his wild afro.
Momousagi’s whole body trembled slightly, holding back laughter at the sight of Enel’s afro…
“Damn it, what happened!?” Once he caught his breath, Enel didn’t care about his hairstyle. He looked up at Momousagi and asked through gritted teeth.
It was infuriating. He had fought Kizaru, a Marine Admiral, and yet he had fallen so quickly to a Vice Admiral. Something felt wrong.
“Hehe! Unlike your Logia, I’m a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit user!” Momousagi smiled and finally answered him. “But my Paramecia ability is quite unique. I’m a Tame-Tame Fruit user!”
“Tame-Tame Fruit!?” Enel stared blankly at Momousagi, completely confused.
Momousagi walked over to Enel and placed her hand on his shoulder. A pink glow spread again, covering his entire body.
“Can you feel it?” Momousagi said with a laugh. “Doesn’t your body feel completely out of control?”
Although Enel was cuffed with Seastone and had no strength, he could still move. But when Momousagi touched him, his muscles went stiff!
“It’s simple. That’s because your muscles have been ‘tamed’ by me!” Momousagi removed her hand from his body—she didn’t want to keep touching this afro-headed guy—but she explained, “As long as they’re within my ability’s range, I can ‘tame’ anything I want. Whether it’s a person’s body or energy, I can make them act according to my will. This ability can even spread through a medium. As you saw, the reason we arrived so quickly is because I ‘tamed’ the ocean currents!”
Enel suddenly understood. No wonder the Marines had arrived so fast—this weird woman had reversed the currents to bring them here!
And his power had stopped responding earlier because when she cut him, her ability had already been left inside his body!
“Get it now?” Momousagi looked at Enel’s expression and chuckled. “No matter how ferocious the energy, no matter how violent the attack, in front of my ability, it all becomes as docile as a little rabbit. How else do you think I got my nickname?”
